I just hate this.

Sorry mate, that I am singling your post, but this "we should play formation A, B, C and D", which is just FIFA-ish. Our players have iterated and re-iterated, that they had to understand the intricacies of the position and all the tactical nuance.

To be able to play those 4 formations, the players need to be accustomed with those, need to understand those plays etc etc. Sorry, but how many teams in the world actually change formations per game. I can understand having a plan b or plan c, but plan A is what each and every team, be it aston villa or sunderland, play it 90% of the time.

Ok, maybe 4 was a bit of an exaggeration but we can defiantly have two set formation's. Allegri is an example of one who switches a fair bit and makes it work

wouldn't mind having a cheeky little partnership with lyon. good club, good league, and players would be able to develop in france rather than holland.

Very encouraging description of Tolisso on WAGNH

Possibly my favourite central midfielder in Europe at the moment. What Chelsea lack (and I am assuming this is why Juventus are so keen to sign him) is a complete midfielder. Tolisso has both that edge and class that comes with being a complete two-way force. 14 goals, 7 assists and nearly 2 key passes a game highlights his burgeoning quality in the final third. He has played at the base of a midfield diamond, in a pivot, as a full-back, the right of a midfield diamond and his versatility is impressive. What I really like about him is that he is a complete footballer. My current gripe with the Kanté, Mati? and Fàbregas triumvirate is that we do not have a combination capable of playing against any style of opponent. Tolisso gives you a well-rounded and far more complete midfielder than anyone currently in the squad. He brings goals and a decent shot, he can create in the final third and all the while giving you the athleticism and defensive stability you would need. Under Conte you are getting a dynamic box-to-box midfielder. Perfect in the 3-4-3 or probably even better in a 3-5-2.

For £20m-£25m, there's no reason we shouldn't be getting him.

I would actually love it if we got both Tolisso AND Bakayoko. That would be real depth and quality in the midfield. It would also thankfully mean offloading Matic.

3-5-2 in big games

Courtois

Azpi Luiz Van Dijk

Conti Tolisso Kante Bakayoko Alonso

Costa Hazard

3-4-3 in smaller games

Courtois

Azpi Luiz Van Dijk

Conti Bakayoko Kante Alonso

Sanchez Hazard

Costa

4-2-4 occasionally

Courtois

Azpi Luiz Van Dijk Alonso

Tolisso Kante

Sanchez Lukaku Costa Hazard

Ideally, I would replace Alonso with Mendy.

A man can dream.

It would be great to have such a partnership with Monaco as well. They seem to be brilliant at tapping into the potential of young players. Love to see Musonda and co go there.

Not having this argument with you. That's between you and the other fella. We don't know who's coming and who's going. Some are more obvious than others of course but we can only speculate.

£20-25 million is the reported fee, the player wants to leave for Champions League football and Lyon accept that I think.

where did you get that figure? juve reportedly bid £33million last month and was turned down

i'm guessing lyon will want something in the region of £40million

£40m is sweet f**k all to a club like us, Roman needs to just get this one done. That'd be the Yokohoma money spent. We'd then still have the Nike money (£60m), title winning money (£150m), TV deal money (£100m), Player sales (Oscar, Cuadrado etc. £100m+). We should be able to outbid any foreign team except Real and possibly Barca. We can certainly offer a more lucrative deal to Tolisso than any Serie A club could.

GET. IT. DONE.

You're right, but I have a feeling he's about to fall off a cliff. When it inevitably happens he will be dropped and will struggle to make his way back into the team.

Far more excited about the prospect of Tolisso than Bakayoko. As mentioned, he's a player very good at doing pretty much everything, and he's also far more capable in attack than Matic and Bakayoko put together. However, I definitely wouldn't be against getting both of them and Matic leaving, as whilst the difference between Bakayoko and Matic may be not that great currently, he's much younger so in theory has a much higher potential. If we can be in a position where we're not relying on him that'll help.

Fwiw I think Tolisso would be a great signing for the reasons mentioned in the previous post. However despite saying a few weeks ago that we should be looking to sign the next Marchisio (and I may have suggested Tolisso) I still have a glimmer of hope that'll he join Juventus, and we'll sign Marchisio instead?

Marchisio is 31. Why would you want a 31 year old over a 22 year old very promising midfielder who could be worth 70 odd million in 2 years?

Agreed, love Marchisio, but Tolisso is a younger player of the same mould, we should naturally go for that, provides a much greater opportunity for us

He's having an absolutely storming season for me with Lyon on FM, scored a 30 yarder that helped me knock Arsenal out of the CL... let's hope we see that in reality next season!

Arsenal aren't in the Champions League ;)

This sh*t occupies my whole summer no more suspense then anti climax please just get a couple of good players in the bag early, not sure about others but it cheers me right up

What a load of old nonsense....and this certainly won't be happening next season.  Arsenal are not in the champions league remember! :laugh2:::ChELSeAFaN::

We do play in the same league as Arsenal, so I think we might be playing them twice next season? Unless the rules have changed...

Looks like we are dropping the chase for Bakoyoko and going for this guy instead! Sounds like a good piece of business

I don't think both signings are mutually exclusive. It's possible we're in for both, seeing as there are still reports that say we've almost closed the Bakayoko deal.

They could be interested in lowering it for us if we send them Traore or Zouma on loan.

It would, but i'd rather we build up Chalobah, RLC and possibly Baker too. If we buy Bakoyoko and Tolisso we would be screwing them over

Yeah thats why im not 100% sure, I saw a report saying we're considering to stop the pursuit
