On a brighter note, Hazard, Pedro, and Willian are going to love playing these defences, shockingly bad especially citeh.

Harsh red. The GK has less right than striker to go for the ball outside the box. I suppose the ref isn't to know where mane is looking and whether it's intentional or not, but that's where video playback needs to come in.

Surprised me how average both teams have looked.

We may as well not turn up to watch the games if the refs are not going to allow players to go for 50/50 balls.

They are. There is just a law against raising your foot above a certain height when doing so. And dangerous play is always likely to incur a red card.

The mystery is why this Liverpool player got away with it:

How can you compare the two ? one had no intent, one had plenty.
I'm just trying to point out that lack of intent doesn't excuse dangerous play. If your boot is at head level, you risk your opponent's safety and that should be taken into account.

imo it was only chest high and not head high.

De Bryune is looking so good , and how is a boot to the face not a red card ? Cmon i understand it was a 50/50 challenge but Ederson was there before and Mané put his leg so high and he was late ,it was just an awkward challenge and a well deserved red

No it was a 50/50 ball outside the box, with no intent, should of been a free kick and thats it.

It was a 50/50, but it ended with Mane's feet hitting the keeper's head. Even at chest level, it was almost the same as the De Jong kick on Alonso at the 2010 WC. The ref just went with the hardest stance when he saw it.

i seen enough from this game to tell me that citeh are REALLY sh*tty at the back, and Pep will not change that any time soon, after all he has had well over a year now to sort it out, and yet they look worse at the back than anytime in the last 3 years.

He's done amazingly with ottamendi, he's amazingly managed to make him worse, which I didn't think was possible.
