September 7, 20178 yr Premier League clubs have today [7 September 2017] agreed to a rule amendment that will see the summer transfer window in any year end at 17:00 on the Thursday before the start of the Season. This is for Premier League clubs only and has no bearing on other leagues and competitions. The first transfer window in which this applies will be the summer transfer window in 2018 (ahead of the 2018/19 season) and it will close on 17:00 on Thursday 9 August 2018.

Personally, I don't like it. It gives leverage to non-EPL clubs to drive prices higher and unsettle players before 31st Aug.
September 7, 20178 yr It was far better when there was no window as such other than you could buy or sell a player upto mid March. This allowed teams to strengthen when they were weakened due to injuries, players to be sent on one month loans to gain fitness and lower down the leagues to sell a player to resolve cash flow problems. The new proposals will put us at a disadvantage when buying continental players and indeed we could find our own players being sought long after our window has closed. On the plus side teams will know exactly what they have for the first game of the season and it will get the bloody window over and done with fast. Whats the betting though Marina still holds out till 16.50 on the 9th Aug to get our business done?
September 7, 20178 yr Now that the rule is in effect, we won't buy any big name players, that's for sure.

September 8, 20178 yr Fifa opening a disciplinary case against Dele Alli. Good - he seems to do something sh*tty every game, about time he gets done for it.

Tbf even though he is a pleb, getting done for that just shows how pathetic the game has gotten. Personally I'd rather see him get done for something bad he does in a game that is actually bad than something petty like this. Edited September 8, 20178 yr by Bobbywoodhogan

Have always found it ridiculous that the season can kick-off and then clubs frantically spend the next couple of weeks trying to sign and offload players when they've had the whole summer to sort it. My OCD is much happier with this new ruling!
September 8, 20178 yr I thought the August awards for player, manager and goal of the month were refreshing for a change. Wagner & Daniels in particular were well deserved in their votes.
September 8, 20178 yr Pep says they didn't sign Evans because they couldn't afford him. Lmao, the straw that broke the camel's back Edited September 8, 20178 yr by TheChelseaBlues

My OCD is much happier with this new ruling! I see the point except it's a WC year now, we'll have even less time to buy players and negotiate contracts. Marina's transfer team can't play her usual bullsh*t game of chicken though, at least there's a positive in that sense.

I see this differently, it reminds me of Beckham and that card against Argentina, it is talented precocious players who forget they are playing for their nation and think their ego in relationship with other players is more important than focusing on the next build up play. If Alli does not get a serious rap on the knuckles and learn a lesson soon he will probably cost us the WC through indiscipline. Edited September 9, 20178 yr by Strider6003
September 9, 20178 yr It annoys me that the current trend for big games is Saturdays, normally 12.30pm KO. It's so inconvenient for people with families. Keep it to Sunday afternoons.

September 9, 20178 yr Mane really is an excellent player, City can't get anywhere near him. It's a shame he is playing for Liverpool.
September 9, 20178 yr Watching City and Liverpool try to defend is hilarious. Edited September 9, 20178 yr by Scott Harris
September 9, 20178 yr The ref is a fool, that is a never a red card for Mane. Ruined the game now.........and my damn Fantasy Football
September 9, 20178 yr We may as well not turn up to watch the games if the refs are not going to allow players to go for 50/50 balls.
September 9, 20178 yr Mane had every right to go for the ball. And he was making a geniune attempt but I get that it was dangerous Edited September 9, 20178 yr by Jezq8
