don't expect fireworks in that either with the way atletico play and probably how conte will set us up for it lol

cahill with a reckless tackle again. how does the guy not learn after all his years of experience? almost identical to the burnley challenge, except he's fortunate the ref in this game is more lenient.

Yea I know mate will likely be a bit edgy and tactical but the quality will be nice to see live

No team plays their wing backs better than we do. Everyone else that has tried to copy our formation in recent times hasn't been able to get their wing backs into such dangerous position as Alonso, Moses and now Zappacosta does for us. You can tell that out of all of the managers around right now, Conte understands this formation the best.

AS muvh as I don't want to brag but indeed, this is a walk in the park.

I was expecting this type of match/atmosphere, but so far am getting what I had hoped for: a focused squad taking care of business and in complete control. No a lot of mental lapses (Cahill?) Finish strong and we should all be happy. Wanted to see Batshuayi and Zappacosta's performances.

Well, we definitely showed our class this half. We worth much more than 2-0 in this game, we're doing good but I'm not surprised, our opponent allows us to do so.

I expect to see more from Batshuayi, we all can see his motivation, he's very hungry, but he has to be focused and smarter, he still can score 2 goals here.

Fabregas has been our best player this half, controlling the middle very well, great balls, his link up with Zappacosta is something good.

It's still not over, we need more goals here. COME ON CHELS!!!

I wasnt sure on Zappa but I see why conte likes him, he looks like he knows the position well, VM better get comfy

Hopefully we can bang in a few more in the 2nd half.

Couple of sloppy performances out there, Kante and Dave have given it away a few times. Need to concentrate more.

Getting harder and harder to stick up for Batshayui. Best thing I can remember him doing that half was right at the end, with a nice control and then pass off to Alonso, but when the highlight of your performance is successfully controlling the ball and passing it, that kind of speaks volumes by itself.

This is like a training session for some of these guys. This is no challenge at all really. Zappa looks a great player, even before the goal i was impressed. He should be a first team regular imo. Cahill looks very slow and off the pace, needs to step up. Overall though can't complain too much, hope Hazard is brought on in the 2nd half.

batshuyai has had a sub-par game. kante and azpi have made a few misplaced passes and a got complacent a couple times, but overall they've been solid. christensen looks a beast as we all knew he would.

Thank god no one gets it right, we need that edge. Have to say Spuds and Arse have improved overall from copying it though.

Zappacosta plays more like a winger than he does a wingback. Very good goal, got the ball from Thibaut, ran the length of the pitch and scored a thunderbasterd. Harry Kane's goal looks ordinary compared to that.

Granted it's Qarabag but we shouldn't get too complacent.

Love Michy but he needs to pull his finger out.

The one thing I don't like about Cahill is that he gives out silly fouls. On a bad day, he could've gotten sent off for nothing.

Tom's half-time summary:
Michy's hold up play is terrible, he lacks footballing intelligence.
Christensen is faster than I expected, very technically minded, I love him.
Zappacosta, terrific goal.
Pedro, nice goal but hasn't really wowed me.
Willian is a lil greedy.
Cahill goes into too many ridiculous challenges.
I have a feeling Alonso will score.
And finally,
Steve McManaman has possibly the most irritating voice in Football.

possibly the worse team we have faced in the champions league.

Professional job so far. Really disappointed musonda isnt on the bench, it would've been a good game for him to play in. Hopefully hazard can get a good run out though.

Very comfortable half, the players didn't get out of training mode. I can see how Christensen can be the natural successor to Luiz. Only negatives - Some wayward passing by our midfield and I felt Cahill's tackle was a bit unnecessary, esp. against Qarabag.

For whatever reason, all commentators seem convinced that Zappacosta meant it.

And Ashley Young is still at United?!
