If we had signed another player who was registered EL and we signed Giroud we’d only be able to register one. Its why United can play Sanchez in then Champions League too.
January 29, 20188 yr For £15m it's a decent buy. If dortmund are so keen on Batshuayi, why couldn't we have just gone for aubameyang? If we were prepared to spend £25m on dzeko could we have not forked out another £15m and thrown in bats? Giroud is decent, but Aubemayang is better and younger.

Exactly loads of things fall through on the last day, perhaps a deal with Dortmund that if deal not settled with Arsenal for Dortmund by X-time means no Bats. Then a pre-deal with Arsenal that once Auba deal concluded by X-time we purchase Giroud for x -amount. Make it legalese so if one side falls down they get fined.
January 29, 20188 yr I think he's a decent back up and stop gap signing. Its too plug a hole and keep Conte happy. If the club are looking for bargains these days and are relectuant to spend big then we must show more confidence in youth. Taking a chance on some of these kids who have won things at youth level and they could save us millions. It also ties in with trusting a manager long term, Conte knows his job his on the line and he will always go with experience. I look at Musonda and the Celtic move today. Its baffling, give him more opportunties like he had against Brighton. He only needed a couple of minutes to shine and he did. Then we send him out on loan! Edited January 29, 20188 yr by Sheva

My only worry though what if we have a standout player like Liverpool did with Sterling or say Arsenal with Fabregas. Can we hang on to them when someone comes in with a mega money offer? I do think we are looking at a few years (at least) of been in the situation Arsenal have been in since 2005. It’s just can we manage it better than they did and bring in silverware? Many questions to ponder but the long term benefits could be great.
January 29, 20188 yr Musonda was the one for me. Seeing him go out on loan for a year and a half is a right gutter. Let's hope he does a Christensen.

January 29, 20188 yr If this is £15 million then I’m definitely hoping this happens. That would be a steal. Also for those saying we aren’t we going for Aubeymang but buying Arsenal’a backup striker. Remember we don’t need a first teamer we’re after someone who can be a backup and a starter when necessary.

Not to make everything miserable or anything, but I think it benefits Wenger just as much. Giroud doesn't fit in at Arsenal, if he sells Giroud to Chelsea then we'll most likely loan Batsuayi out to Dortmund so they can sign Aubamayang. I think Arsenal get more out of it than just 15 mill.
January 29, 20188 yr I'm sorry, but i can't get as excited as the rest of you. This guy has scored a decent amount of goals in his career, but i have been watching him play for Arsenal for the past 6 years and i have been so happy that he has been their striker and not ours. We would be better off sticking with Batshuayi in my opinion.

It’s possible you’re right but I still think there are question marks on Aubeymang. He’s been linked heavily with teams for years but he hasn’t moved until now. Why is that? Isn’t he 29 too?
January 29, 20188 yr I can't get excited about this oldish show pony, our club are showing a distinct lack of ambition, surely this amount of money on a 32 yr old smacks of desperation , and a very short term fix, but for what, we have morata for the Target man role, get someone good play off him..
January 29, 20188 yr what baffles me is the way we use youth... Can't find any explanation why we don't use some of them more as subs... or in cup games. Might be a problem with our managers not staying long... they may be reluctant to give youth a chance as they know they won't last more than 2/3 years.
January 29, 20188 yr We do need to start giving youth more of a chance but we need players who can be relied upon in this top four run in. We’d have been in a much better position if not for some of our sh*t results recently.

He's 31 coming up 32, he's never been a fast player so he's used to not relying on pace to score goals. He is a good player and a very solid backup if we did sign him, he suits our playing style much more than Arsenals. I still prefer Michy over Giroud, Michy has shown a good deal of confidence in the Brighton & Newcastle game, he's playing better with his back to goal than he usually does and he does score goals. I would give Michy the push instead.
January 29, 20188 yr To be fair that's two games against dross. I agree that Bats should have been given more of a chance but it's blindingly obvious Conté doesn't rate him. If reports are legit that Conté is gone at the end of the season then sending the Batman out on loan till the summer and the new manager can make a decision then after he's played plenty (hopefully) at BvB.
January 29, 20188 yr Our best football is played with fast attacking so why does he suit us more than arsenal given his lack of pace?
