As dansubrosa said above, take Hazard out of the team and, considering two key players for the 16/17 title winning team were sold, what are you left with?

A piss poor Moses, a 32yr old declining Cahill, two ageing and declining Spaniards (Fabregas/Pedro), an inconsistent Morata, error prone Bakayoko/Christensen (albeit perhaps because of inexperience), an "injured" Luiz, and an over rated donkey in Ross Barkley.

The only players "fit to wear the shirt" are Courtois, Azpi, Rudiger, Kante, Willian, Giroud, Alonso (though not suitable for a back 4), and Hazard.

So that's 8 players from a potential squad size of 25, but yet we still finished 5th and won the FA Cup. I'd say that's overperforming.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to justify why Conte should stay, I'd prefer him to be replaced by Laurent Blanc.

Since there hasnt been any movement in the manager front. I've done a second team on the off chance conte stays, this is what would think it would take to keep him and Hazard happy.

Speaking of the one above, there were rumors for every single one of them that i've included on the list. As for the finishing the deals and refreshing the squad - that's up to Marina. It's not a science fiction. 

Lets buy Verratti to accompany Kante. Sell Drinkwater. Bring in Ruben. 

Sell Luiz as it seems his legs are crooked or doesn't get along with Conte. Bring in Zouma. 

If we are to sell Courtois we need a very good keeper to replace him. Can't really name anyone atm. 

 

We won't find anyone available better than Tibo. What needs to happen this summer is for someone to get our sh*t together and convince he and Hazard to stay by demonstrating that he might get a chance to win the CL with us.

If we're not going to do that we'd be best to let him go and consider a keeper from the second tier. I wonder whether we might be wise to go for a young top keeper like Lafont from Toulouse this season. He's still U21 so wouldn't count towards the squad. At 1.93, and with 90 appearances at age 19 he could be the next Courtois.

Ampadu shouldn’t be ahead of Fabregas or even Bakayoko. He’s very raw and still has a lot to learn, he’s only 17.

CM: This is an important signing. Bakayoko is sh*t.; Fabregas is delcining rapidly. Barkey is an unknown at the moment. I'd like to see RLC in the other CM role, we in this one we really need a big player, an Essien type who will run the midfield and support those around him. We'd probably be looking at spending a good chunk of the budget on this player, maybe upwards of 50m-60m in today's market.

RW: Maybe someone like Bailey, or someone similar. Should be able to get this signing for under 40m I'd have thought. Maybe we could even look at someone like Robben temporarily, as I think his contract is expiring so would have no transfer fee.
 

So I think we could get what we need for about 100m. And if we sell off some past-it players and some loanees, we'd probably even make a profit.

I'd love to see Hazard play as a 10 but he prefers the left right? They could interchange blah blah the point is I think it's a stretch we're shelling out 100m+ on two wide players who will want to start. 

I do agree it would be a great idea actually AND selling Willi and Pedro in conjunction would make it even better. If the point is signing players to make Hazard happy however, there are probably better options in a positional sense.

I thought Lemar had actually been playing as a number 10 for the majority of this season. Seem to remember Hazard saying he preferred playing there too, like he was a Lille.

You have somehow managed to make our squad look worse and less balanced, cudos.

I also cant think of a reason why any fan would choose to sell Hazard he has been our only consistently good attacking option this year is one of the best players in the world and if we really needed the money we could sell some of our army of loanees.

I.e Hector £5m, Omerou £5m, Kalas £7.5m, Pasalic £10m, MvG £15m, Brown £10m, Palmer £7.5m, Boga £10m, Kenedy £15m, Piazon £2.5m

All I which I think we could sell for more but you get the picture
