I’m all for bringing in a new winger but don’t understand the attraction of this one.

He’s been marginalised by Sancho this season so unless we’re bringing in someone top level why not develop CHO instead?

Exactly, although Roman is not trigger happy like 5-6 years ago, any Chelsea manager knows he must deliver something in the first season, or else.. Let's say we drop a couple of games in December and back in the dog fight for the 4th spot, suddenly everything Sarri has done so far will be forgotten and he's under pressure. With that much pressure, any manager would go for the high percentage play of playing/buying the proven player, instead of betting his job on a 20 year old from the reserve team. This is not Liverpool or Spurs, Klopp/Poch get 3-4 years of building a team with no expectation of winning anything, of course they could take a few more chances with youth players.

I've taken a look through this and I see a talented right sided player with good feet providing assists and goals.

Interestingly at least three assists were for Michy Batshuayai .

With Willian getting older, Hazard rumours and Morata ups and downs this could prove to be an inspired signing.

I'm sure our American posters will have a greater knowledge, but from  what have seen or read, Pulisic looks like managers dream. Hard working, determination, tactically disciplined, he has pace to burn, and he can press well.

He has the ability to play that killer pass, and he is more of a goal scorer than his Dortmund record suggests.

At 20 years old he lacks consistency, and his decision making needs to improve, however, he has the sort of work ethic and determination that saw lampard go from good to phenomenal, so I would be happy to see him come in.

I think the contract issue has played a part in his reduced role this season, and with sancho taking his chances, im sure Dortmund want to give minutes to players that are fully committed to the club.

Hopefully this will play into our hands, and we get him for well under £70m bring bandied about last summer.

Of course.....history says so. Its a clear pattern and it wont go away anytime soon.

What are the odds that the club splashes £50m on him...I'd say none, cheers.

Lets face it, Sarri will try very hard to convince Marina to get Icardi and then his agent will use that to get an even bigger offer from lets say Real Madrid and we will end up having 32 year old Pedro and 31 year old Willian for the next season...

Is anyone else of the opinion that we should not sign this guy?  I am.  I don’t think he’s what we need, and if anything, it seems like it would be more of a marketing ploy to gain more fans here in the US.

I’m American and I actually like Pulisic in the US team.  But I don’t want him anywhere near Chelsea and the pressure and rigor of the PL.

Sancho is the Dortmund player I would prefer.  Regardless, I don’t think we will sign either.

I'm still yet to see anything that convinces me that this guy is going to be anything special, so I'm with you, I wouldn't want us waste money on him. Right wing has gone very stale for us, we need somebody good enough right now, not somebody that may be good in 2 or 3 years time.

Right, and to top it all off, they are throwing around upwards of £70m for him.  No thanks.

I hope that isn't true. First of all, we have hudson-odoi, pedro, willian. Second of all, Pusilic isn't that good. Third thing, that's too much money to spend on him. fourth thing, we need a striker and for that money we can get one. Just like this club to buy a player for that price and send Hudson-Odoi out on loan. When will the club learn? This is most likely a commercial signing, purely business. Not even a left footed RW, which is what we are desperate for. If the club make this signing, It will be obvious the club have no clue which direction they want to go in, STILL!

I agree... I'm a big fan of his, and he's already the best outfield player that the US has ever produced (short list, I know), but that's too big a fee... unless you get something equally as absurd as 70M for Willian. As a straight swap for 10 years younger, I'd do that move in a heartbeat. I consider Willian to be second choice behind Pedro anyway. Pedro extended for a year, so it would give Pulisic a year to get acclimated with the squad.

But, that also brings in the discussion, would you rather do something else with crazy Willian money? Probably.

They can shove that 70M to hell........we can get Fekir for 50-55M......no more than 45M for this lad imo. Problem is thanks to few Clubs the prices are just ridiculous.......we wont pay 70M for him but the likes of City would in a Heart beat if they needed him.

45M for this lad

talking with my friend the other day... I said Pulisic will probably triple the highest transfer fee for an American... that fee would be 45M. I think that's about right, even in an inflated market.... not even counting the fact that he only has 18 months on his contract.

Nobody will pay 70M, his value will go down rapidly as he's not re-signing and not playing games. I think it will be around 50 in January, and 40 in the summer. I'm not sure about him, certainly got promise but not elite. Speaking of Potential, we already have a 18 year old we are trying to hold on, sign Pulisic before that contract is sorted will not end well.

If we sign him I'm convinced Hazard is off next summer. It wouldn't surprise me if Willian replaces Hazard at LW which would open a space for Pulisic at RW. We've also been linked to Denis Suarez.

I think many of you are drastically undervaluing Pulisic in today's market.  He's 20, he could easily play for 4-5 years and be sold off at a profit.  He's already experienced in the Champions League.  He's pretty clean technically, but he has been knicked up this year.  Sancho may be better, but this is a team they play for that will make it to the round of 16 in the Champions League playing the best young talent.  I'd sign him now, and if Hazard goes to RM, go big on a 9.

Not to forget the Jersey sales in USA.

He could also end up being rubbish and we find ourselves in a position where we are trying to sell him for cheap. I'm not anywhere close to being convinced that this guy is going to be as good as some people say he will be. I'm not sure where this hype for him comes from.

We need goals and assists in this team, he hasn't exactly proven to be somebody that could give us that in his time at Dortmund.

Not sure which players currently in the premier league have done more at a younger age than Pulisic.  Look at Willian's track record before coming to Chelsea.  Pulisic already has 100 appearances and 19 goals for club and country and just turned 20 this September.  I can't see him burning out myself.

I wouldn't be against signing Pulisic don't get me wrong, looking back in a few years it may be the case that he improved the team and we simply couldn't sign anyone better at the time, but come on that's a BS statistic - how productive would Messi or Ronaldo have been had they played in the Bundesliga at 20? There's simply no case for comparison, for me Pulisic is more Harry Kewell or Andros Townsend than Messi or Ronaldo - he's not even close to their potential at the same age.

I have an odd respect for Andros Townsend considering that at the age of 27, he's finally learned how to use his right foot.
