Kepa is finalising the conditions of his contract with Chelsea, and will be unveiled at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday or Thursday (AS) 

Really sounds as if this one is happening. It’s refreshing to see the club spending big and getting someone with high potential. Fed up with stop gaps.

Apparently tax rules don't apply anymore due to a rule change in Spain which is lucky because Athletic don't negotiate, even on accepting a similar offer to the clause.

I've just seen in the Spanish radio La Ser that Kepa has travelled to Madrid to pay his clause. This one seems to be happening. We'll see if he adapts but I think we've pulled one on Real Madrid as we get their preferred option.

Not sure about preferred option, I was under the impression Kepa rejected Madrid because he didn't receive assurances that he'd be #1.

    Never mind that, what about the poor stadium announcers around the league. GK and RB get announced one after the other as well.

    Hudson-Odoi clocks in at 10 letters (fairly sure the hyphen doesn't count), Azpi clocks in at 11, Kepa would clock in at an impressive 12. Reasonably sure he'd be our first Basque player since Asier del Horno, though I could be forgetting someone.

    That's good news then. It seemed a bit of a con anyway.

    The only explanations I can come up with for Chelsea suddenly paying £71m for a keeper are a) panic and b) they can save money put aside for a midfielder by taking Kovacic on loan - thus putting all money into a keeper.
