May 26, 20224 yr I think Mendy is our best keeper though was somewhat perplexed when Kepa was not given a chance when Mendy was clearly struggling with form. i can only assume Tuchel tohught he was mentally fragile so did not want to create competition between the two of them.

Kepa has had more than enough chances than he's ever shown the talent to deserve. We gave Mendy a chance to play through his bad form but if we didn't I'd have gave Barkley a chance in goal before giving Kepa another minute. Hell if Newcastle are offering 50m they can have both Kepa and Ross. Edited May 26, 20224 yr by HazardousChoice

It screamed of a chance to include Kepa again, then Mendy could've upped his game due to that. Mendy was terrible in that period and I don't think even Kepa could concede as many if he tried. Still stand by that, Kepa should have been given games in that period. Not just the chance of a Row Z penalty every 6 months. 19 hours ago, RMH said: Mendy’s dip in form was causing us goals, and he was partly responsible for our going out in the CL against Real Madrid. So as @Mod, I stand by what I said then given the situation back then. I don’t think Kepa is the better keeper, but he was rotating based on form all the team bar the goalie. There were isolated times Cech was costing us goals and it coincided with Hilario playing reasonably well when called upon (main case in point his MOTM display vs Liverpool when Cech got himself suspended) yet when both were fit there was no discussion on who started and rightly so. Given Edou's world class 18 months and why we had to drop Kepa from #1 in the first place it should take something very very spectacular for it to even become a remote consideration in my opinion.
June 22, 20224 yr Apparently Lazio remain interested in loaning him. Though now Nice have a stronger interest in a loan.

Pretty obvious that she was sacked reading that statement on our official page the other day yeah. Buck got a nice long statement and will also continue as a senior advisor at the club while Marina got a footnote and her papers it seems.

June 24, 20224 yr Newcastle signing Henderson on loan from the Mancs just reduced the number of potential suitors for Kepa ...

Newcastle were never going to consider Kepa. One of the dumbest rumours someone has ever created. A club with an unlimited budget isn't going to consider one of the premier leagues worst ever keepers. Kepa is absolutely unsellable with his wages. His number of suitors is 0

His number of suitors is 0 It's going to take a few seasons before the world's top players will consider moving to Newcastle. Until that point, they will have to take what they can get in terms of recruitment. Hence the move for Burnley's Nick Pope in goal for 22/23. I'd say Kepa is on the same level as Pope, so it wasn't beyond the realms of possibility that they might go for him. I agree Kepa's wages are a hurdle to be overcome, but the player himself is desperate to play, so would almost certainly take a wage cut for a decent move, and especially so seeing as he's probably already set for life after 4 years at CFC on £155K a week. For any well-funded team that aspires to play a possession-based style, Kepa is still a decent option, especially as his appearances last season went some of the way to restoring his reputation.

I think the problem is you're vastly overrating Kepa. Kepa isn't close to being the level of nick Pope. I don't think Kepa starts for a single club in the Premier league. He's not a very good goal keeper, even if he was willing to play for free he just isn't the standard any premier league club particularly an ambitious one like Newcastle would consider. If anything if Kepa was willing to cut his wages massively he's more likely to get signed as a Pope replacement at Burnley, of course he isn't going to cut his wages or want to play at that level given how much he's earned so there's really no market for him. He'll be here until his contract expires in 3 years. That's been clear since day 1. Edited June 24, 20224 yr by HazardousChoice
July 7, 20224 yr A simple move to solve all our woes. Kepa ready to step up and lead our backline. Or will he replace Jorgi as our best ball distributor?

July 30, 20223 yr Napoli and #Chelsea are 'closer' to reaching an agreement for the loan of Kepa Arrizabalaga. The clubs have reached an agreement for the salary - Chelsea are expected to pay 3/4 of Kepa's wages. Optimism is growing. [via @DiMarzio] We’re paying 75% of the wages?!

If we have to loan him and pay 75% of the wages, keep him to rotate Mendy in the Cups and put some pressure on him. We’re not going to find a better second keeper, so tell De Laurentiis to cough up the money to buy or to pay the full wages on a loan.

Yeah that would be a really poor piece of business right there unless we are getting a 20mill loan fee.

Should approach any high earned who wants to go and can only find a loan move the same way we did Lukaku. Ok you can go but you take a pay cut to do so or you stay.
