He's not accepted yet as wants clarification on whether he has a future at Madrid, since Lunin is also in the last year of his contract. Fingers crossed we get rid! I admire his delusion if he thinks he has a chance at Madrid.
July 8, 20242 yr Kepa isnt as bad as some make out. I dont think he has ever looked worth the money, and I think the price tag has messed him up - the pressure of it etc. But he is not awful. Just another mid-tier goalkeeper, who is a capable shot-stopper, a bit rubbish on crosses, ok with feet, and suspect at long shots. I wonder how much of the mind boggling offer from Saudi is transfer fee? I assume not very much. We need more than £10.2mill in transfer fee to book a FFP profit for him.

I'd take a loss to get him gone. I'd honestly rather have Robert Sanchez starting over him and he's ass too.

According to the Portuguese and Spanish media, Jorge Mendes, who represents Costa, will present the name of the goal keeper to Real Madrid. Money talks, I guess, although this is probably just speculation.

Also can't see Courtois going anywhere - none of it makes sense.

It’s all media talk, so it’s probably not true.

August 23, 20241 yr Why the hell would we extend?? He'll never play for us again and no one in their right mind will pay any sort of transfer fee when they know we'll be desperate to ship him off on loan. Just let his contract run out and let's close this chapter.

I would assume that we want this loan to be a buy obligation, so having him extend 1 more year will grant that vs having him leave on a free in 2025.
August 23, 20241 yr Assume the contract extension will include a decrease in salary like with Lukaku? Speak of the devil, has he gone yet as well?

Doesn’t make sense for Bournemouth to agree to that, and Kepa is holding all the cards here so makes zero sense to extend. He can sit around and pick up £150k/w till next summer and go sign as a free agent.

I think we are trying to do the same thing we did with Ziyech. Edited August 23, 20241 yr by Sconnie Blue
August 23, 20241 yr Athletic Football Club. . . maybe he thinks he will be staying in Madrid? Little does he know, he is being cherry picked for Bournemouth.

You can't loan a player in the final year of his contract without extending him first. So that explains the extension. Probably not a good move, since Bournemouth can ship him back next season and we're back to square one.
