Just what i read online, or decreased his salary when he went on loan was it?

Took a £5m a year pay cut when he went to Roma.

So, is it fair to assume that Clearlake thought that this loan spell would enable us to sell him next year for a fee as opposed to losing him on a free? And hence, the 1 year contract extension?

The contract extension just prevents him leaving next season on a free. Whether he's saleable is another matter.

cough cough...

4 clean sheets as opposed to 3 for Sanchez while playing for a side that passes out from the back and are outperforming all expectation this season. he's also become a dad so well done him, good form , good for Bournemouth and us if they decide to buy him.

Make of that what you will but hes the best keeper at CFC imo. (will probably upset a few on here)

i can't be the only one thinking this is a great deal for Arsenal?

£5m for Kepa, who's done quite well at Bournemouth this season, as a back up is a steal, imo.

Yeah cracking bit of business for Arsenal this, crazy really that the 2nd best GK we have on the books is only valued at 5M

He had an okay season at Bournemouth but still got beat by a number of long, high shots, that his short arms will never reach.

Might only be £5M, but happy to take it and get him off the wage bill.

We paid £25m for Brighton's third choice keeper FFS

The two best keepers we have are Kepa and Petrovic , so it must be nailed on that they are the two we will move out the door first LOL

Would have thought Kepa would prefer to be a starter at Bournemouth rather than a #2 at Arsenal, but perhaps he thinks he can displace Raya ?

Agree £5m is far too low a fee. Let's see what happens.

This is a bit out of date but is still quite current.

2025-26 Chelsea F.C. Payroll Table

An updated look at the Chelsea F.C. 2025-26 payroll table, including team totals, retained figures, and complete breakdowns of player salaries, and bonuses.
  • For the GK the table below for me shows that Kepa makes financial sense for us to move on, although £5m, even for him, seems a bit cheap.

  • One of Sanchez or Jorgensen should go. Personably i would probably shift Jorgensen as i have seen nothing from him to warrant double Petrovic's salary.

  • Slonina at £40k pw is a huge mistake, especially if Penders is potentially the real deal

  • Bergstrom loan until released and Bettinelli keep for the banter.

With Kepa, Jorgensen (or Sanchez) and Slonina gone, that is a weekly saving of £165k, which should fund pretty much any elite keeper and still be able to keep Sanchez (or Jorgensen), Petrovic and Penders on the books and Bergstrom on loan.

Sharman Lowe and Curd coming into the equation as well now.

Personally Petrovic should be the two with a proper fair chance of making the number 1 his own.

What's quite sad in that data is that we are spending more on players out on loan that we don't want than we are on players that were generally considered our "best" starting XI ... assuming it is all correct data of course LOL.

The goalkeepers are all noise level compared to sorting out Sterling, W.Fofana, Chilwell, Nkunku and Felix.

For only 5M I would have thought Bournemouth would keep him.

Bang on. Get Chilly and Sterling off the books and we can take out pick of strikers or CBs

Bite their hand off.. some players just by virtue of not being here become better.. Kepa is barely a PL level player.. hope arsenal buy him and he plays 30 games for them.. see them get battered when that happens.

Not completely agreeing with that! Kepa is streets ahead of Silky Sanchez, and why yet again, do we have to sell a player to Arsenal.... and for just 5 mil. Madness!
