Great win but you cant help but look at the f**king awful points dropped against Pool, West Ham, Everton and Wolves.

Its so frustrating to see the side play that well but f**k up against smaller sides, its the reason we wont be in a title race this year, we're not consistent enough.

City and Pool will steam roll the teams we've dropped points to.

If we're being critical, we should have beaten West Ham, Everton and Pool, we should ahve lost to Utd and deserved at least a draw out of the Wolves game, probably more as we were robbed of a peno at 1-0 because Jon Moss is a fat f**king idiot.

We should be higher up the table and have at least 6 more points but we need to improve now and win 4 or 5 games on the spin to put pressure on those above us and keep the gap to arsenal and Utd.

Its a tough season as in there's lots of good teams this season, the first five teams are all playing well and can all look at the top 4 and think they deserve to be there. Put another way a team that would be in the top 4 most other years is going to miss out this season.

I think we need to recruit another goal scorer in January. But this is not the thread for that discussion.

Have to say i was surprised and didn't expect this. Excellent team effort and the defense was top notch apart from Alonso who was pathetic again. Sarri showed he had a plan B and we controlled the second half and earned our win. A string of "easier" games ahead and we should capitalize on it.

You thought he did well mate?

Think he did ok. Stats wise he contributed more than Rudiger. Not a pathetic showing at least. Maybe first half when we were under pressure but then that is his trade off I guess.

Interestingly enough, Alonso plays the 1-2 with Luiz before the crossfield ball in the leadup to the first goal, and ends up on the edge of the city box before half the city team gets there

Maybe i can't forget the Wolves game :laugh2:, pathetic was probably harsh. Let's say the worst in the back four :)

Not only that yet he follows up and passes the ball out to Hazard who slips it towards Kante for 1-0.

He definitely played a lot better than he did in the first half, for sure. He played pretty poorly in the first half. Would like to see Emerson get a shot in the premier league. I feel like he suits Sarri's system better than Alonso does but... :dead_horse:

I think his evaluation in the Wolves game is overly harsh too... He had RLC covering for him instead of Kovacic, and he was playing balls with Christensen instead of Luiz.  Hard to play well, when the cover you are used to getting disappears.

Is that officially classed as an injury?

If the two points were mutually exclusive then perhaps so. Ergo Aguero has spent a large part of hs career injured AND has also spent the first part of the season not even starting, being benched. ::MooNeY:::biggrin:

Don't think we will see another team coming to the Bridge playing like City did, that has a lot to do with the success our the plan B. In addition, opposition missing a few chances helped, unlike Wolves who scored with every shot on goal. Great win, but many tough games ahead and drop any games we'd be 5th spot given Spurs/Arseanl are in good form

Arsenal-game coming up. We have not been good away this season so that is a worry. In that game we need to be with the ball I think. And we need as deadly finishing as against City.

RLC was a beast that game both attack and defense, so he offered just as much support as Kovacic. We shouldn't have to waste a CM spot to cover the deficiencies of a full back. No matter who was playing next to him, or in front of him, Alonso still had wingers walking past him.

We can agree to disagree then on how RLC played, I think his attacking has been excellent, but defending meh. RLC plays more like a 10 and less like an 8, which seems to be what is required. Pair that with how Fabergas played, and you're asking Alonso, who's an attacking back to cover for 2 players.  Maybe longterm I'll be wrong, but in the midfield I see RLC's top end with Sarri being a super sub when chasing a goal,  I think he has much more potential as a winger under Sarri.  He needs a higher work rate.

RLC having a poor work rate must be the biggest myth in football left behind by Mourinho's second stint. The lad is up and down the pitch like there's no tomorrow. Maybe you can't see it on the streams but watch him individually in person and you'll notice it.
