so Rio is starting a debate on twitter w/ that tweet - I didn't think anything racist was said but Rio was quick to bring out the race card

There is a black guy stood right next to them who doesn't even blink. Being of mixed race myself, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have reacted

What a brilliant performance out of the blue. First half we defended well and kept city confined mostly to wide areas. After the Kante goal we were excellent.

Luiz fustates the life out of me. After that Spurs match to a put in a performance like that from the first to last minute. Great pass to start up the first goal and lovely headed goal. Most impressed with the defensive game tonight, won everything on the ground and in the air. MOTM.

Hard to tell what is said there, I don't know how he can jump to the conclusion that it's racist language being used though.

Take no notice of Rio “that’s racist” Ferdinand

Up the Chels!! Glorious to see the Blues finish the final 55 minutes strong while controlling just about all aspects of the match during that period. Have not posted in a few matches, mainly due to work but also some poor performances.

So very pleased with the effort today, especially to finish strong. We sat back a bit in the first half with absolutely nothing going forward but then a few offensive runs, and then, bang,  Kante get in!!

Tremendous effort from everyone. Luiz flipped the script. Dave shut down Sterling. Our midfield held and Kante showed some attacking prowess, which was fabulous today.

This goes a long way to show what we can be under Sarri. First loss by City by 2 goals or more in nearly two years (January 2017).

Great day to be a Blue. Enjoy your weekend Chelsea mates!!

Come on you Chelsea!! :bluescalf::bluescalf:

Just got back from the game. I’ve decided not to read the match thread yet. It was a good tactical decision to play with no striker to give us more legs around the pitch. We played ok first half but second half our game management was superb, the work rate off the ball was fantastic and made City look ordinary. Pedro was outstanding, Hazard did well in a difficult role. We were practically 4 5 1 without the ball and Eden held the ball and ran his socks off. I hope the match thread was positive!

Every so often the Barcelona comes out in Guardiola. He really is bitter when everything doesn't go his way.

I also saw Guardiola go round and shake every single one of our players by the hand afterwards ... not exactly the actions of a bad loser.  Do we know what the assistant said to prompt that reaction ?

Just remember we had a similar performance against Liverpool and had Hazard took his 1one1 we would have beaten them too.

We we have now beaten the City, Liverpool in league cup and draw (should have been a win) in the league and people question Sarri.

Fair enough Tottenham was a horror show and I put that down to the player's because they showed no guts or fight ..but Sarri is a top manager.

I see some of the negative posters who came out the woodwork have disappeared now.....odd that

No probs, but it's relevant because someone is telling new members that, and it would be good to know who. We wouldn't want people driving others out when they've just joined up by telling them not to cross senior citizen members.

No ofc not but no worries, my choice of words were not the best I appologize, and nobody drove me away as you can notice so it's all good it was a long time ago no problem from my side I wanted to warn the other guy to keep it down before he gets himself hurt, I also reported one of his comments to someone as he didn't stop replying in a bad fashion.

Hopefully the performance in the second half will convince the board that Sarri is worth persevering with. I am certain that he would not have chosen to play with no striker but he has recognised that the two we have have been offering very little. Great courage was shown there.

In fact there was evidence of courage all over the pitch. Kepa is a very young man, playing in a new country in a big team. What he has been asked to do is extremely difficult, I mean off-the-scale difficult and he has embraced the challenge. I realise he misplaced a pass and no doubt will misplace more but he deserves great respect and all our patience and support.

Luiz, Azpilecueta and Kante were all superb. Luiz is obviously not a proper centre half but he is a very talented boy and his talent shone out today.

Barclay and Loftus-Cheek both showed courage coming into a game as finely poised as that and they both made excellent contributions.

As fans we need to show courage too. I am very curious to see what Sarri could achieve given 3 seasons. He clearly has a plan, has shown today that he has a plan B, and to have coached this team to produce that second half in such a short time makes me very excited for the future.

The match thread was absolutely hopping up until the 44th minute. It went a bit quiet for the second half with the exception of a couple of kids calling each other names. It's picked up a bit in the last hour. There is at least one top quality post above.

Mighty win tonight, both in terms of the title race and our own season. I know I'm going to sound a little bit hyperbolic here, but it had shades of the Nou Camp in 2012 about it. Also something I found interesting is that in 11/12 we ended City's unbeaten run around the same time as we did tonight. After a difficult few weeks, a win like this one will definitely see us get our mojo back. My main concern is that we still look very sloppy in possession at times, but hopefully that's just the final remnants of the players getting used to Sarri's system. Our next five fixtures seem quite winnable on paper, it would be great to see is build on tonight. While I can't speak much for the first half as I didn't watch it, I did watch the second half, and Kanté was immense; he covered every blade of grass on the pitch, while Luiz has answered his critics in style with a performance. Special mentions to Pedro, Dave and Eden, I felt they put in great shifts, looked very composed when being crowded and picked out some lovely passes.

As for the supposed racist abuse of Sterling, obviously, if it is proven true, then that sort of abhorrent behaviour should be severely punished. However, I've watched the clip a few times now, and I'm still unable to see what Ferdinand is referring to; was it a gesture or has someone done a bit of lip reading and came to their own conclusions? Also, I find it hard to believe that the black man standing next to the men who were the supposed perpetrators would look so casual about it if it did happen (unless he went to the Ashley Cole School for Choc Ice).

I've only seen the three or four minutes of footage on MOTD, but I imagine that this thread was seething for 44 minutes and after 94 is actually believing we're going to walk the league.

Seems to me that we had one of those days when we've raised our intensity level to 11 and produced what we know these players can produce, but we've seen this on many occasions and we know that these performances can be produced very often in isolation. So nothing really changes. Every knows we can beat City or Liverpool. Everybody knows we can beat or get battered by Spurs. And everyone knows we can lose to Wolves whilst appearing to not give a sh*t.

So let's just wait and see if Sarri can somehow manage to get performances close to today's out of them against West Ham and Wolves as well as City and Liverpool.

Maybe the most interesting thing is that it looks as though to get today's result even Sarri has had to acknowledge that his strikers aren't very good and playing Hazard out of position and risking further unsettling him was necessary. Will the strikers not start again this season? Or do we somehow calculate that three points gained against City count more than if three points had been taken against Wolves instead and play a useless centre forward against everyone outside the top two?
