Big Pete is BACK

I fully expect him to at very least be on the bench tomorrow.

Na frank said he won’t unfortunately, they have to give him a cup game at least for the fans

Mark Schwarzer spoke to Cech recently and revealed that he thought that his career was coming to an end as his injuries were affecting him but after resting for a year he's back in good form in training.

If he trained full time I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the no.2 spot in the team.

I really don't get what is going on with Cech and him coming back. Seems like a strange move.

We have 3 GKs at the club as it is already and what signal does it send to Caballero and Kepa? Caballero is fine as a back-up keeper and has done well whenever called upon. Kepa is low on confidence and totally out of form and Cech returning is not going to fix it.

I read somewhere he's in the squad only for the dire emergency when our other keepers are all struck down with Covid or in quarantine, etc.

Or if Stephen Hunt comes out of retirement...

Yes that makes sense and is a sensible idea but people completely pull this news out of context and act as if Cech is going to be a main part of our squad this season, which just wouldn't make much sense.

The report that I read said that Cech data and stats were reportedly better than Kepa and Willy.

I doubt he will ever make an appearance again though

Apparently made an error early on but waiting for the full match report to see how well he did over the 90. We were down 2-0 but just completed a 3-2 comeback in the 87th minute

I think he took the match ball home as a memento, clearly still in love with the game. I hope he gets back up to speed and can be our official 2nd keeper next season.

The match was pretty good, thought PL2 would have friendly vibes but this felt more like a proper derby, the quality of football is decent too, might follow the season if all matches are free on Youtube.

Also smh at Drinkwater getting riled by some kid..

Difference in professionalism shown between Pete and waste of space drinkwater...latter starts a melee (don’t care how bad the tackle on him was), the former helps break it up and calms things down.

shame Chelsea’s desperation to get Drinkwater off the books means he undeservedly takes the place of a kid who actually deserves to play in these games.

I am still confused as to what Chelsea is trying to accomplish with presenting Cech in this way. He is clearly not going to play a role as a keeper for the first team unless there is some catastrophic chain of injuries or covid infections. Is it just because Cech misses playing football and we do him a favour or what is the grand plan behind all of this. I find it very weird considering we already have 3 GKs in the first squad. Not sure how I felt about this PR stunt if I was Kepa or Caballero.

Regarding the Drinkwater incident, he really shouldn't have reacted like that, but then again he completely messed up his career by joining Chelsea and being played in the U23s now is not gonna be easy for him mentally. Imagine going back to U23 after playing a big role in a PL winning squad and then getting assaulted by some kid like that. He isn't the only one who would have reacted unprofessionally.

Quite frankly if Kepa feels embarrassed by this then he's only got himself to blame, he's had chance after chance to avoid this situation. Likewise with Willy aswell really, i like him in a cult hero sort of way but lets be honest, he's not that much better (than Kepa) himself.

I think the club presented it as "if the worst happens" with our keepers (injury, corona infection or quarantaine). We say we want our under-12 keeper be given a chance in that eventuality, but we don't really mean it

Willy has done nothing wrong and has done a decent job as a back-up keeper. Not sure why the negativity towards him.

Yes Kepa has been bad this season and bad for many stretches of last season but despite that it is our job to build him up again so at least he can be sold. By playing PR games with Cech returning to professional football we don't do ourselves any favours because it makes Kepa look even worse in the eyes of other clubs.

And to be honest Cech looked horrible in that U23 game and if he really did return to playing premier league football he would just risk tarnishing his reputation as a great keeper by making a clown out of himself.

I dont blame Drinkwater one bit for that, the stupid little sh*t went in 2 footed on him in a reserve game and deserves a kicking.

If the club is serious in having Cech as a last resort back-up, then he should get some playing time to shake off the rust.

I disagree about Willy, if he was any good Kepa wouldn't have had any chance to win his place back.

However i don't disagree that Cech isn't the answer either, personally if god for bid Mendy goes down I'll be giving Ziger a shot.
