He'd already admitted that in court years ago.

Well they’re digging it up again and doing a panorama on it tonight on BBC.

Yeah now the fear of court action is gone you can expect plenty of this.

Let's just hope we don't see a "Documents show Roman supported Putin's invasion" soon...

The whole Slavneft thing in that article sounds shady as sh*t tbh.

Once the umbilical cord is cut we'll be immune to it all.

A consortium fronted by Todd Boehly and Jonathan Goldstein has emerged as the leading contender to buy #Chelsea.

Two sources close to discussions: Boehly-Wyss-Goldstein group is now viewed as the most viable option, both by the Raine Group and government insiders, who believe the consortium has the financial resources and expertise to get a deal done quickly.

From Ben Jacobs on Saudi links:

To clarify the 'no government links' aspect to the Chelsea bid. What that means is on paper or legally-speaking (like #NUFC's owners argued) the prospective consortium are saying they don't see issues of sale clearance due to their make up. Practical reality is VERY different...

There would be inevitable crossover and potential influence. After all, any messaging, partners, sponsors (or even decisions) would have government-agenda in mind. Often it'd be tourism- or culture- focused... but not always.

A Saudi sale to Chelsea would give KSA soft power through sport. Rich private investors may not legally be acting on behalf of the government, but they move in the same circles as key officials. So a sale to KSA (at this type of level and value) is something MBS would use.

For instance, there is a feeling Turki Al-Sheikh (close MBS advisor) might be involved if the bid is accepted. This is currently being denied... but if things progress it's that type of name that raises questions about gov. influence.

#NUFC went to huge lengths to prove separation, although piracy issue being resolved helped get them clearance in the end. If a bid is accepted/progresses, EPL will hopefully go through the owners meticulously. Doubt this is a quick sale if KSA-bid becomes the preferred bidder.

Although they have alot of money, it’s too political and I imagine that the PL would scrutinise them heavily meaning it wouldn’t be done quickly.

Don't feel great about a group with 2 none football fans and the third being a spud taking over. However they would likely be able to do so quicker than the Saudi bid. As you suggested the latter will be gone over with a fine tooth comb and I expect blocked.

Didnt Roman sound too good to be true ? were you a supporter then ?

I don’t think Roman did ‘sound too good to be true’. He was too good to be true for sure, but his purchase of the club was so out of the blue that there was no opportunity to consider it, it just happened. That’s my recollection anyway.

I also firmly believe that even the best of whoever these 200 suitors are, not a single one of them will be a Roman. Not a snowball in hells chance.

But I also still fear we’re going to get f**ked sideways by the government and  put out of business if it suits them.

Oh yes, “the you’re bad people, but as long as you don’t hit our pockets we don’t care about that” FA approach.

Pretty sure there was an article on Wyss that he has not interest in football. Goldstein bring a Spud is enough said.

Does Boehly even know anything about our football?

They don't fill me with confidence that we would remain a top tier club.

It's not in their best interest to see the biggest club in London who represents this country the best on the continent to disappear.

I believe that most clubs buy players in effect on HP included in the fee agreed would be an element of interest say 4.25 %. I can only assume that there has to be some sort of tax advantage in agreeing to pay interest.

Let’s go back to that example I pointed out bear in mind my numbers are probably way off but I use the numbers to illustrate how the process works

Say the debt Man U owed Leicester was £56 million payable in 4  annual equal instalments of £14 million. Leicester would  sale that £56 million  debt for as much as 20% below that sum. The factoring  company would pay a lump sum to Leicester of £45 million and when pay  United pay the instalments of  £14 million it goes to the factor company. Nice work if you can get it

Finance companies for footballers. Licence to print money isn't it?

If they really wanted to screw us they could of done it already by not giving us a 'special' licence to carry on.

To be fair, I don’t believe owners being a “fan” makes them a better owner than anyone else. It’s their ability to run, organise and manage a football club that is important.  And in terms of what we’re used to, having a winning mentality.

Saudi Arabian Media? I wonder if they castigated the Saudi royals for dissecting that journalist a while back? My brother-in-law does a lot of work with the Saudis and he reckons that when it comes to image, nobody moves without the tacit approval of the highest echelon. Since Khashoggi was murdered, they have been ultra-sensitive about casting the nation in a bad light.

Chelsea’s potential new buyers are having to provide what added value they can have by buying Chelsea ( @NizaarKinsella )

My hope remains Roman makes sure we go in to the right hands.

Spot on……. We know where his money comes from and we know what he has spent it on, when you are that rich and that high profile there is absolutely no need to launder it !

He’s been here for 20 years FFS if anyone is that worried why haven’t the gone for him until now

I’ll watch the panorama shortly despite what I have just said

I’ve been watching the news and whilst the government have grandstanded sanctioning Roman and shafting Chelsea FC, they have done absolutely f**k all to help the poor people of Ukraine. Our government is an absolute disgrace. The only difference between them and Putin is an invasion.

Just found out in the US-Swiss consortium that Todd and his mate Jonathan tried to buy Chelsea before and most importantly - Jonathan is a Tottenham fan. Feck me. They must NOT buy my football club.

That's fair, but personally for me being a fan gives that extra edge that the person will relate to the fans. Often times you end up with out of touch owners like the Glazers who just see the club as a business.

Yeah but owners who are "fans" of the teams they own are more likely to have that winning mentality than owners who arn't.

It's sort of the question of what does the owner want out of Chelsea FC.  Do they want it to turn a profit or do they want it to win trophies?

I just want an owner who wants to win trophies and is competent enough to get the right people in place to make that happen.

I mean we want an owner thinks of the club like he thinks of a yacht.  Not as something to make a profit but as something that he can show off to his rich friends.

FYI I just noticed that the Saudi's placed a 2.7 billion pound bid on Chelsea.
