It is all a bit bizarre, Raine the US merchant bank was appointed by RA not the government.

Roman's loan went from £1.5bn to £1.6b so guess Raine's fee was £100million.

Roman can't get his money back so the best outcome is for the buyer to ask the UK gov or tax office for the account to lodge £1.6bn of their funds to repay Abramovich at a later date post the Ukraine issue.

If Abramovich does not accept the sale over his money being sanctioned it should be forced sold.

However if the argument is about the $1.6bn going to Ukrainian fund, who made that decision? There were media claims at one point that Roman had agreed all could go to Ukraine. Thought that was dodgy as soon as I heard it and suspect mischief-making from some quarter.

He sounds pretty confident in the Clearlake bid.

Again Clearlakes involvement is really troubling.

The Ineos bid is strange is that the wriggle room?

Just had thought about the loan, suspect Ukrainian sources claiming that as an oligarch he was corrupt so all his money should go their funds.

That would be a bad move just in case we do make friends again in a decade or so.

Also there is legal entities involved Fordstam and Camberly - they might have to write this off and possibly go bust?

I’m guessing it’s pretty similar to buying a house, even if an offer is accepted anyone can come in and gazump the offer. Nothing is confirmed until the contract are signed.

I guess that’s what Ratcliffe is trying to do. It is annoying because it’ll end up delaying the process and if the deal falls through with Ratcliffe, it won’t be easy going back to Boehly.

What a mess.

Nah just that the gov are prepared to set the date back of the deadline for sale and possibly set aside the 1.6b roman wants back etc to then have a tit for tat to find a solution i.e a way for roman to squeeze the gov and vice versa. Before the sanctions roman didnt want that 1.5/6 but theyve done him over anyway, Gives roman leverage over the gov because that is the money he didnt want anyway and withstanding some legal feckery he ccould just veto any use of it (ukraine) and the gov can also say 'fine let it sit there' but then its not really a win for them either so if things get even more mental at least the club can finally leave the docks as that will end up a sideshow etc.

Romans company's are what all zillionaires do along with using tax havens and country's outside the remit of influence, Essentially shell company's to shift all the wonga about and roman probably has some of the best lawyers and advisors in the world

No argument with shell companies yet once the 1.6bn is in escrow RA can take a hike as far as the govt is concerned and CFC can  move on unless of course someone is playing politics????

The dosh going into escrow requires it being sent to somewhere to be held, They can't just rob him and sanctions are a freeze, Although I wouldnt be suprised if the gov try and steal it, After all they're the biggest thieves around!

Well they have barred any money being sent to him, that is robbing in my book.

It was interesting Simon Jordan saying the government still have properties worth £100m from people like Gaddafi etc. Didn’t know that.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe: Chelsea bidder 'not giving up' on takeover deal

Where was he 2 months ago?

The whole thing is a mess and I knew it would drag on, I said it would back when it started. When there is so much money involved, it was never get done quickly, so what we don't want is Jim Ratcliffe coming in so late to drag it on even longer. If he is genuinely interested and there is even a chance Raine will consider him, then stop f**king about and get it done. I am running out of patience and the club is running out of time to get this done before we end up in serious financial trouble.

Sir Jim has large financial links to the Tories, theyll happily oblige to his requests

Interesting article in the Times tonight as well, headline being   Chelsea have declined to give bidders for the club detailed information about who would receive the £1.6 billion loan that Roman Abramovich wants to be repaid to a Jersey-based company.

Starting to get messy again

Boehly's group seem to have followed all the requirements in the process so far, meeting with all the stakeholders etc. They also seem to measure up to all the requirements imposed by Raine and the board. However the emergence of the Ratcliffe bid seemed to time out awfully conveniently with the new requirements for the loan payoff. I feel as though the fix is in and involves various politicians who will know doubt receive healthy backhanders for their service. I really don't believe they will stop Roman getting his money as long as the whole coverup process is in place, and they receive a healthy bribe. Ratcliffe has his friends in government and that is why I won't be surprised if he wins.

Both Boehly and Ratcliffe seem to have good intentions to bring success to our club, so my main hope is that this gets wrapped up in time. But something about the current situation smells very fishy.

Chelsea hope to complete the sale of the club by allowing the government to hold the £1.6 billion loan owed to Roman Abramovich.

Both the Boehly group and Chelsea were confident on Wednesday night of the government issuing a licence for the sale.

Sources close to the process have told The Times that the sale can be completed with no money being paid to Camberley until the government is satisfied none of the £1.6 billion will go to Abramovich or his beneficiaries.

This article would seem to suggest that the deal with the Boehly consortium is still on track and that they, the Club, the Government and Raine Group already have a mechanism in place, or are at least working on one that will satisfy all parties. The Sanctions against RA are TEMPORARY, not for life. Up until now the Government have still not produced one credible piece of evidence that RA is guilty of anything.

Once someone does the decent thing and blows Vlad the bad Putin to tiny pieces, the interred leader of the Opposition in Russia will rightfully start to rule and RA will be exonerated and will get is £1.6billion out of Escrow.

Yeah sounds like it will be ok. But let’s see what happens on Friday.

Some potentially good news being reported by Ben Jacobs:

Boehly-Clearlake takeover of Chelsea is now very close to completion. Raine sources tell me Wednesday talks were “highly productive and no alternative options are being explored.”Sources within Boehly-Clearlake say they’ve remained “calm” and are confident they will own #CFC.

The handling of Abramovich’s 1.6bn in loans has provided some late drama. Boehly-Clearlake bid initially presumed a debt-free purchase. If funds covering debt are frozen by the government then 1.6bn will remain in limbo for now. That will be enough to complete a sale by May 31.

This plan doesn’t fully resolve the debt (the original hope). But it does suspend it and allow a sale to go through. It will be interesting to see what happens if/when sanctions against Abramovich are lifted.

Boehly-Clearlake, like Broughton, were never prepared to engage (or pay) Camberley. The main reason is because they couldn’t do any due diligence and be sure who the money would go to.

Well if it carrys on which im not against its now been established that should delays occur the sale deadline will be extended, Then theirs the PL stuff on 8th of june however I call bs on that, Look at the reaction to the super league, Oh so what the pl are going to help destroy one of the best clubs they have? No chance, They will make up some rules last minute and allow the sale and club to sort itself out probably until a couple weeks before new season, Not like the club or even roman has done anything wrong or stripped the club like a dodgy owner or broken ffp etc so they will be egging on a stinky mess etc!
