The handling of Abramovich’s 1.6bn in loans has provided some late drama. Boehly-Clearlake bid initially presumed a debt-free purchase. If funds covering debt are frozen by the government then 1.6bn will remain in limbo for now. That will be enough to complete a sale by May 31.

This plan doesn’t fully resolve the debt (the original hope). But it does suspend it and allow a sale to go through. It will be interesting to see what happens if/when sanctions against Abramovich are lifted.

Boehly-Clearlake, like Broughton, were never prepared to engage (or pay) Camberley. The main reason is because they couldn’t do any due diligence and be sure who the money would go to.

For me something feels off with boehly/clearlake its a profit group and stinks of the brits giving the yankie doodles a pat on big bros back tbh

The 10 year commitment makes me sweaty in all, Imagine when mike ashley took over newcastle and was made to sign legal docs forcing him to keep the club for 10yrs no matter what Then he faffs about buying rubbish for a decade and the club sells for a little or less profit etc or could even lose a fortune and then we have an owner unwilling to spend but nobody can do zilch about it, Sure you can make them commit to a certain outlay but a world clss lawyer will pick it all apart, Getting into the weeds a bit, Hopefully its a sit on mower job and everything works out!

If ratcliffe is legit and not fecking about having a laugh then i'd be happy with him, Who even knows if roman has any say over any of it, Roman could be sat on a yacht somewhere seething like wtf they're giving it to the Kardashians etc!

Also ratcliffes lot coming out about clearlake certainly raises the eyebrow, ok probs competition but its a strong thing to say and does make you wonder if we're all being mugged off, The ratcliffe interview on the beeb almost felt like hes doing his mates a favour i.e family or friends who genuinely support the club etc

The takeover has got really messy. This is what happens when government involves itself in sports. If Roman had been in charge of selling the club, things would have gone more smoothly.

Clearlake involvement and owning the majority 60% in the club is the large concern for me. That and people like Wyss who are only interested in making money.

Clearlake has the final say over Boehly on Chelsea's future. Clearlake may approve most things Boehly wants, but if Clearlake for some reason distrusts Boehly, they can get someone else in to run Chelsea. And that's when the dominoes fall.

Lets not pretend Roman didn't buy plenty of rubbish players over 20 years, i am quite looking forward to seeing what players we can bring in now without Roman, no offence to him he meant well.

Yeah but we weren't exactly man utd levels of moneyball and won loads of silver but yeah its a good point, But its hard to name many clubs who dont end up also buying dross, Sort of the name of the game, throw it all the wall see what sticks which worked out very well for us

What I see playing out if they dont spend big is the stadium being used to increase the clubs core value as well as sponsorship's and we fall to the waist side like arsenal etc

Probably a good idea for them to bring in some serious quality this summer quickly and that will probably go quite a way to appease any fans/supporters anxiety's.

I suspect people will get real squiffy if we bring no serious players in etc

But what does serious quality look like ? We had Salah and KDB at one time, but someone thought they were not top quality and let them escape. We broke our transfer record on Lukaku a supposed "world class player". plus another half a billion burned on more "world class players" over the last decade. Then you look at some of the best players in the squad now and realise they came from our own academy.

There hasn't been that many personal requests of Roman himself, for the vast majority of transfers it's the people around him that simply wanted those particular players, the one player that was reported as a Roman signing was Shevchenko.
