We had some poor periods under Roman, nothing like this, but I always felt Roman would make the ruthless decisions to get us back challenging again. Realistically what needs to happen, is we need to employ the best manager available on the market. Which would be Tuchel, or possibly Amorim. We need a commanding centre back. We need a capable striker. We need a competent left back/left wing back. We need a quality goalkeeper. We need to ship out a few under performers. There is no rumours of any of these things even happening, bar possibly getting a striker. We haven't got the money . We've ended up selling hotels to ourselves to try and raise money.

April 24, 20242 yr We have a big summer incoming, I'll probably be in the minority when I say think the problems we have are easily repairable. We have the base of a good team but without the bite, if we sign an established striker and CB as well as in incoming top manager I think next season looks a lot different to this one. But this requires the owners to suck it up and slightly veer away from filling the squad with kids.

With the players we own though. Surely a Tuchel or Amorin could field a competent side that is top 6. Petrovic James Chalobah Colwill Gusto Caicedo Enzo Maatsen Palmer Nkunku Lukaku Maybe fix the medical department, and bring in a competent manager this summer.

I like it, but who's going to wrestle the ball off Lukaku when we get a penalty?

I think its possible to do good things with this team without major investment - but it requires us to get people fit. Lets just say there is no transfers in or out in the summer: Kepa/Petrovic James Fofana Colwill Gusto Lavia Enzo Caicedo Palmer Jackson Nkunku Or Kepa/Petrovic James Fofana Colwill Gusto Enzo Caicedo Chilwell Palmer Cairney Nkunku Should be enough for top six in my opinion - in terms of talent alone. Obvious issues in goal and up top, otherwise decent depth with the likes of Gallagher, Chalobah, Disasi, Cucurella, Sterling, Mudryk, Santos, Ugochukwu

But we do definitely need a striker and a CB at least, although a new manager is the most crucial thing.
April 24, 20242 yr just buy Ivan Toney, sell Enzo and Chuck (Barcelona want him), if fit this team will get top 4 petrovic James Fofana Colwill Gusto Casiedo Gallagher Chilwell/Jackson Palmer Nkunku Toney
April 24, 20242 yr The last thing I want next season is this ownership to spend obscene amounts of money on players like Oshimen. We need financially stability over the next couple of windows because there's only so many home grown players we can sell to make up for the mistake they have made. We need 2 or 3 experienced players to come in who've rarely get injured and know this league. I am not talking players who are 30+ I am thinking players who have had a few seasons at a high level and that can be someone who's 23-26. I'd be happy with just signing a striker and centre back in the summer with the idea our medical department gets its act together. Edited April 24, 20242 yr by Sheva

I am certain that our conditioning coaching and training drills, before any pattern , is detrimental for a lot of the players, hence the injuries and rehab break downs. A better back room set up of fitness and conditioning coaching and a more tactically astute manager and there really isn't a great deal wrong that a few signings now and then maybe one or 2 per window would not fix.

They are the ones who pulled everything up, roots and all, from a regular CL club that won trophies, inserted their model which sacked Tuchel, brought in Potter, Winstanley and Stewart, sacked Potter, appointed Lamps, signed a bunch of over priced players that are not good enough, then spent month appointing Poch and got that wrong too. Poch is a symptom of the problem, not the disease itself.

Owners aren't asking for this group to go and win the league, they are asking for progress and at the bare minimum qualify for Europa League, which this squad should be doing. And despite the gaslighting we have endured all season about no one wanting to work under this ownership or about our players not being good enough (despite top clubs/rivals competing us for the likes of Caicedo/Enzo/Lavia/Nkunku/Mudryk) there are still reports that top coaches would jump at the opportunity to be here.

By top coaches they mean Amorin who is currently scrambling knowing that he's not getting the Liverpool job and is worried west Ham are his only route out of Portugal. To this day we are still the only English club that's interviewed Amorim. He's denied even speaking with Liverpool and West Ham haven't even approached him. He's focusing solely on Sporting which makes complete since given they are on route to complete the double.

Of, I know. Just pointing out there is some real quality in this squad IF we - against the odds - solve our injury issues.
