This musing really does not fit anywhere in particular on this site, but I just saw that Bayern had won and gone eight points clear in the Bundesliga. Then I thought if Kane gets his league winners medal and has that monkey off his back, we could try a cheeky bid to get ourselves a proven striker for next season. He might like to come back to London. But apart from imagining the objections on here, I realised that he’s about 15 years too old to even be considered as a stop gap by Clearlake and their lackeys.

PS. I’m not going to the protest either. To be honest, if I lived across the street and had absolutely nothing better to do I wouldn’t bother as I am absolutely convinced it’s a complete waste of time.

And that is why we are where we are as a club.

Hang on, why should the fans be held responsible for the owners' decisions?

It's not as if fans haven't had an opportunity to publically critcise and vent to date.

We had our opportunities before, and still do now.

Few years ago the core "proper chels" seemed alive and well, killed the first edition of the super league.

Then when the UK government treated our fans like trash and our club like sh*t, where were they?

Let's see if they are still around as we sink deeper in to the quicksand, and our players are nothing more than cattle to be fattened up and sold.

End of the day we need to make our voices heard in whatever ways we can, local match going fans, away fans and internationals. If we cannot be bothered to show up for our club when it is "just across the street", if we don't want to give up a pint for our clubs future, then we deserve everything we are getting.

The UK government (or any government) isn't elected to kowtow to football fans, lol. Agree or disagree with what they did and how they did it, the actions were taken in response to a geopolitical event, not to get Chelsea if that's what you're insinuating. The club became a Russian cultural asset, for good and for bad, the day Ken Bates signed the papers of sale.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say most local Chelsea fans didn't protest because they thought dying Ukrainians were the actual victims and were a tad more important than the grievances of a football fan base. And personally, it's really f**king weird to protest the actions of a sporting club at a time of global political unrest and cost of living crises. There are much more important things to be angry about.

The other reality is is that many local Chelsea fans simply do not care that the club is no longer challenging for titles etc. because all that is empty. We who watch from our couch can't ignore the fact that modern football is so grossly out of touch with its match-going fans, many of whom will follow the club whether it is in the PL or League 2. To them, the only difference between Abramovich and Clearlake is that the former had the sugar-hits of a trophy every now and then.

Yeah our viewpoints and beliefs on this are different.

You asked me what I meant, I explained. You disagree, I disagree with your reply. Fair enough.

And what did Abramovich have to do with dying Ukrainians? About as much as any random Bristish billionaire with dying Iraqis back in 2003.

Sadly have to agree.

No-one gives f**k other than the supporters. Heard a Chelsea supporter on TalkSport this morning and he was shot down. In other words, how can Chelsea supporters moan after all the money that has been spent. No sympathy from anyone and why should there be and no protest is going to make the current owners lose any sleep. They'll do what they want and carry on regardless.

You forgot to log into your other account, Mr Abramovich.

Yes there is no doubt the UK government acted with hypocrisy, especially given their stance on equally murderous regimes in Saudi, but Abramovich's relationship with Putin is well-documented.

My other account is under UK sanctions at the moment. ☹️

As for his relationship with Putin, it's misleading. Abramovich is not a part of Putin's inner circle, never was. He has no say in any geopolitical decisions and neither did he have any input in Putin's decision to invade Ukraine, if you know anything about Russian ruling elite, you'd know that's not how it works. Under Putin's predecessor Boris Yeltsyn the oligarchs had a serious influence on the government, but Putin put a stop to it and concentrated power in his own hands. In fact, the Russia vs West confrontation did nothing but hurt Abramovich's business as well as many other Russian wealthy businessmen with ties to the West.

Not to mention, that for twenty years prior to Ukrine conflict when Roman had been spending a fortune, investing and paying taxes in the UK, and winning everything under the sun with the club from London, somehow his supposed ties to Putin were not a problem.

Was the reason we don't have a front of shirt sponsor because they gambled that should we get top 4 we'd be able to attract a more lucrative multi-year deal? How are we in March with nothing. Its nothing short of failure at every single level. At minimum that's £30m the club has missed out on this year for no reason other than incompetence.

Why is no one being sacked? Or held accountable? The club just accepts failure these days.

I haven't given much thought to the shirt sponsor thing but it is ridiculous we don't have one.

Is it just that our hierarchy have an over-inflated view of our worth? I'm sure there are plenty of companies out there that are willing to be our sponsor, even though we aren't in the CL, but I suppose they are only willing to pay so much whereas we want a sh*t load more?

I was only just reminded as someone mentioned the Roman Abromovich chants being bad for business on the Maresca thread.

What i don't understand is, how have they not done a cut price deal with someone in January? Half the season for say £10m. Surely anything is better than nothing at this point. Hilarious how when Clearlake came in they said English football is 20 years behind American sports commercially, yet here they are failing to do the absolute basics.

And then they will say we need to sell to comply with PSR. A two year shirt sponsor would have helped bring in tens of millions, surely.

Incompetence all over the club right now. The owners, the sporting directors, the manager, the players. A complete circus. All we need to do now is decide which part of the circus they all belong to.

Exactly this. Every single department of the club appears dysfunctional, manifesting in what we see on the pitch. I thought we'd crossed this bridge with what we saw for the majority of 2024, but we're back where we started. Watching the regression is painful - nothing is changing and the players are pretty weak mentally to handle such adversity.

Really miss players like Wise, Desailly, Vialli, Hughes, Zola, Lampard, Terry, Cech, Ballack, Essien, Drogs, Kante, Hazard, Cesc, Ivanovic, Dave, Cahil, Silva, to name but a few - they never went hiding and drove a standard for all.

Well, now that Omary Kellyman's coming back we can all rest easy. The league is trembling with fear.

Oh that is fantastic news !

I'm itching to find how much we have overpaid for him LOL

It's funny seeing the club leaking things like this on social media in the hopes of controlling the narrative and appeasing the fans. I think they're feeling some pressure.

Piss?

Anyway my mate sh*tty Phil reckons the ownership are that vain that they are terrified of the wide (and accurate) reporting of their imbecility that will come after yet another abject failure of a season. To counter this they're leaking 'this is all part of a galaxy brain strategy' propaganda to gullible, shameless internet nerds who will parrot anything you tell them. And he knows a thing or two about leaks, he was once beaten up by the King's Guard for taking a drunken piss on the Buckingham Palace gates.
