I've still got the 03/04 away kit with Mutu on the back in my house somewhere, only ever once had a name on a shirt since and that was Bertrand on the 11/12 home shirt the year we won the CL.

Fans need to wear the whole kit to show they are proper Chels.

Shirt, shorts , socks , and boots

The Americans have got an anti English agenda. James will be gone in January.🤪

It was actually the Americans that valued Mount, and wanted to match his earnings with James.

It was Winstanley that came him and analyzed that the money for value offered to Mount wasn't worth it.

The minority are the most vocal. 90 minutes of adoration doesn't drown out 10,000 minutes of abuse for the rest of the week.

Not really how many different ways you want me to word it tbh.

He gets a fresh start to prove himself at Utd, something he'd never get at Chelsea with fans minds already made up.

That's the point, he won't as like here there's an 10x more vocal minority there that has already made their mind up.

And if he's going to get even close to the adoration he got here at Old Trafford he's going to have to play to a very very high level (higher than even his 2021 self).

And trust me if he's not performing well he's going to be a Chelsea boy to them, and the transfer fee won't do him any favours if he's not playing up to scratch.

I do think Mason gets far too much abuse for some strange reason, however, it is not exclusive to Chelsea fans. The most abuse I saw Mount get was after the game against USA in the World Cup.

Yep, if he really wanted to escape the awful level of abuse he got his best bet was to go abroad (as someone who has lived and regularly travels abroad I'm at a loss at why English players are in general so reluctant to try, although ofcourse it's got better in recent years).

Protection lmao being an academy lad is what got him most of the abuse here.

Frsh start. He know what he was always getting here from fans that had already made their minds up on him regardless of how he plays. If he performs how he can at Utd their fans would love him.

Like you say, if he doesn't perform he'll get abuse though. At least he has a chance there.

Has he been booed or abuse by his fans at Stamford Bridge or away days like other Chelsea players?

So yes his academy status did protect him, i have not seen any abuse towards him outside the fickle social media idiots.

Do you purposely keep ignoring the fact a game last 90 minutes, the social media abuse lasts for eternity. Shouldn't have to explain it this much. Abuse to Mount started from day one when he arrived with Lamps.

Sadly the vocal clowns online ruined it, wonder which player will be their next victim. My guess is Chalobah or Chilwell.

They've not already made their mind up though. If he starts performing like Bruno does he's got more than a chance of a normal career.

At Chelsea he had zero chance of changing fans minds. He was getting abused while he was dropping POTY level seasons.

The POTY that was voted for by the fans? If that doesn't show that the morons abusing him were a (as I said all be it vocal) minority nothing will, especially in the case of the second one which lets be honest should have been Silva by a landslide.

You think at United the match going crowd let alone their own moronic minority will keep quiet if he carries on his form of the last 18 months?

He's also made a rod for his own back picking number 7, as much as I hate to say it it's probably the second most iconic shirt in football after Brazil's 10, rightly or wrongly he's going to attract direct comparisons to Beckham, Ronaldo, Cantona, especially if (as is likely) he's front and centre of the marketing.

So yes, i hope for his sake it wasn't those idiots that chased him away.

And you are totally missing the fact you can turn off social media, no one is forced to be on their, half those people never set foot in the country they are majority foreign accounts.

Now you shouldn’t have to do that but that’s the world we live in.
Mount has gotten unwavering support from match going fans outside the social media sphere where as others haven’t who like I keep repeating got booed in their home stadium from their own fans and also get abused online.

Social media is a choice, I deleted Facebook, instagram, never used Snapchat or TikTok.

Only two that’s mildly useful are Reddit and twitter which Elon is hell bent of destroying.

You can spin but the facts are undeniable our own players got booed by the fans that should support them while also receiving online abuse.

Players get thousands of tweets on their personal accounts.  Surely they don't read them all or do others scan it for abuse and threats etc. Surely they have better things to do ? I cancelled Twitter years ago , it's full of sh*te and eats into time that is better spent.

Anyway I read that since 2014, five players have worn their No7 shirt and not one of them is still at the club. He's coming home, he's coming home, Mr Chels is coming home, etc etc etc

Yeah and Cucurrela is in with a shout. Kepa might be a good bet too.

Bet really the fans in the ground just have a little moan usually, it's nothing serious

Mase telling people he was not in our plans. A bit disingenuous given the new manager had not even started by the time his mind was made up.

What colour was his hair mate ? He might have said that last Christmas or something, it's looking a bit dodgy yo me

Mount is the equivalent of Bruno Fernandes in terms of recognition from opposition fans and frankly I can't find a better comparison. Both hyped up by their own fans, whereas opposition fans don't rate them at all.

Bruno Fernandes is even worse in terms of getting hyped up by the United fans as he is nowhere near the player they paint him to be and I bet if you ask the City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal fans, I bet 90% of them would tell you they'd want him as far away as possible from their teams. Definitely one of the most overrated midfielders in Europe.

I read on United forum that they want Mount to replace Eriksen and expect him to have the same impact in terms of passing, vision etc. Well good luck with that then, if you compare Mount with Eriksen then you are in for a big surprise. The Eriksen of Spurs was a really good player, full of creativity and great passing ability. Mount is not even close to that. He is good against the press and will do the job in midfield, but he is no way a creative midfielder and the comparisions with Eriksen are way off IMHO.

Fans on football forums usually talk bollocks    A Utd fan forum no different.

Wooops ! 😂😂😂

You think this minority isn't the most vocal part of the fan base? 90 minutes on a Saturday being cheered to get home to 10,000 minutes of abuse for the rest of the week.

Mount might be one of the first but he won't be the last with the new age consumer thinking they have a god given right to abuse players 24/7 online. Even our own manager at the time was asking it to be looked into. Call someone sh*t in private or at home all you like, but this contant abuse on official club channels and players personal social media accounts is beyond bizarre and detrimental to the club.

Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a contributing factor in Christensen not renewing, he used to get no end of abuse from fans too online.

It's no different at any other club, and if it is a contributing factor, then why leave for any English club at all? Have you ever seen the abuse he got online when playing for England? The only fans you would see stick up for him were Chelsea fans. Arsenal, City, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham, Leicester fans, they all said he was sh*t, but do you know which fans would get on his back the most? yep, the fans of the club he just joined.

Watched the way RLC left us all over and over again.

Watched right now the way Azpi left us all over and over again.

Watching his "farewell" and feeling like it was a simple decision for him to leave and he posts a f**king video.

Disappointment.

You are in the wrong career field if you care what a minority of deluded f**kwits think of you, let alone have it affect your decision making.

I'm not on social media, so I don't know what kind of abuse has been aimed at Mount (or others), but if he has been threatened, being affected wouldn't be so odd. And even if there haven't been threats, nobody likes to get abuse.

You've proved my point here though. IF he carries on his form. If he performs to his usual standard he'll be adored by the Utd fans, same way Mata was adored for leaving us and being pretty average at Utd.

Regardless of whatever form he carried into this season the fans weren't changing their minds. Abuse would have carried on. Has a 50/50 chance at Utd, 0% chance at Chelsea for change.

Utd's number 7 shirt died when Ronaldo left, lets be honest. Garnacho had it last season pmsl.

Probability suggests it's more likely than him suddenly finding his 2021 self again, atleast in the short term.

The twitter morons not changing their mind is offset by the fact the majority would cheer for him even if he turned into Bakayoko, outside of Mourinho and maybe Terry nobody in our history had that type of safety net when it came to unconditional support.

The number 7 defiently hasn't died, Owen and Depay are to this day routinely mocked for having the gall to take it and Valencia reverted back to 25 in a year because he couldn't handle the pressure of it.
