November 26, 20241 yr Graeme Bailey stating Guehi is still the club's preferred choice to bring in next summer. Someone to compete with Fofana & Colwill. Will only have a year remaining on his Palace contract next summer.
November 26, 20241 yr Ends up at Newcastle imo. they're going to have a backline of: Livaramento ? Guehi Hall Cobham 2.0

November 26, 20241 yr I'm pretty sure that Chalobah would command a pretty solid value in a swap deal. Palace fans are quite keen on him and he already fits into thier structure. Not sure if Chalobah would stay there if they get relegated, and that's not such an outlandish proposition. In that event Palace probably wouldn't want him anyway. Guehi is coming to Chelsea whatever. I suspect he feels there's unfinished business here.
November 26, 20241 yr Would be worth it provide Marc Guiu becomes our first choice striker. The match commentary would be amusing

Guehi Hall Cobham 2.0 Weirdly Cobham B might yet go on to have better/longer careers than the Cobham A team we kept instead of them: James Gilchrist Chalobah Colwill Cobham A were undoubtedly more talented at that age, but football is a funny and fickle thing.

November 28, 20241 yr I think he goes to Newcastle. I think we’ll be in for Murillo from Forest. We’ve apparently held talks in previous windows.

January 7, 20251 yr I would be happy with this signing now IF: 1. We don't consider him to be the SPINE CB signing We desperately need and will sign that CB in the summer. 2. We sell Badiashile, Fofana, Disasi, Tosin and Veiga. 3. Guehi competes for a starting spot with that top CB signing alongside Colwill, Acheampong and one of Anselmino/Chalobah/Gilchrist being the 5th choice.
January 7, 20251 yr If we're panic buying our old youngsters back to cover temporary absences can we also get Hudson-Odoi back to cover Mudryk? Oh and don't buy Murillo for f**k's sake

I imagine we would sign him to play alongside Colwill, I doubt we'd look to sign another CB if he came. Also, what's wrong with Veiga?! Happy for the Monaco legion of doom to go though.

Happy for the Monaco legion of doom to go though. Most likely aye, but I don't think he is good enough to be the spine piece of our defence. Veiga is looking more like a turn a profit signing, and Maresca does not seem to rate him.

There isn't an elite defender mentioned in any of your post here Ax. We are chasing a CL spot and we will be hoping to compete for the CWC, simply because of the PSR benefits of the prize money. This weekend we played a 21 year old kid, learning his trade, at CB as the senior and mentor to Acheampong. I like both of these lads but they desperately need a true mentor to work alongside and learn from. Much as i like Colwill, my biggest issue is with his aggie attitude at times. There is aggression and putting your chest out, and there is immaturity and losing the plot. Colwill has the potential to be an elite defender and he probably would be with a Van Dijk alongside, chewing his arse out if he is not up to standard. Tosin, Didasi, Badiashile, leaders, mentors? C'mon. Marc Guehi, leader, mentor, elite? Please. Where is this clubs ambition?

However with our scouting network I don't see why the club cannot find one who would come here.

Genuinely this generation of players 23-33 are mostly bang average.

Araujo at Barcelona, Tah, Tapsoba. Just feel that Guehi adds nothing to us at all, just another average defender.
January 7, 20251 yr Josh can take a sigh of relief, Palace will want £65-£70m+, Newcastle tried £60m and failed, he doesn’t have long left on the contract but Palace won’t back down.
January 7, 20251 yr What would be the point of signing of signing him and blocking Josh’s pathway? Doesn’t make sense. Particularly when Josh looked good vs Palace.
