We have been linked to defenders.

Chilwell. What CB's have we had concrete links to? Declan Rice is the only one i've seen and he's played holding mid all his senior career.

I really hope we get this guy, his goals and assists are so vital, just look at the impact Fernandes has had on United.

We need players with a killer instinct, with Werner and Ziyech, these signings will see to that weakness.

But our defence will still be a shambles.

We're looking to win games 5-4 instead of losing 3-2 which I understand, but we still absolutely need to address the backline

Our back line hasn't been great, but if we actually stuck 2/3 past teams when we are dominating it will make a huge difference. We look far too toothless at times.

Havertz is a generational talent and could make a Hazard type impact, if we had to sacrifice defenders for a season to sign Havertz, I’m all over it. Huge talent.

Me too, I know we really really need a proper LB but Havetz would be so good to see...

All seem subpar and not top class material. Upamecano seems the best of the bunch but hes only 21 so barely any experience yet.

When did i say they were top class?. Good luck finding a top class Centre back for us to buy.

Is this not exactly the point though? There is no top class CB’s on the market so maybe the club thinks we stick with what we have for another season - sort the attack and midfield and address the defence the following season. Who knows, the next Van Djik might have started making a name for theme selves next season or someone like Skriniar might start angling from a move.

If we sign someone this summer it’s unlikely it’ll be a world class CB. It’ll be a younger player with potential. People suggesting Koulibaly are insane if they think the club is paying 100m for a 29 year old with no resale value.

There has to be somebody out there though, surely. This is what scouting is for. It's their job to find hidden gems. We did it with Ivanovic, United did it with Vidic.

But that’s my point - maybe one of these players listed will be that. My point is people won’t be happy with that. They want a household WC name like a Kompany, Terry etc in there prime which just isn’t going to happen this summer.

Its not easy now as it was back then though to find those types of players.

We may see some more activity in the way of Havertz and his future in the coming week now that he's finished the season. He would be an upgrade on our current midfielders. Positional play is his forte imo. Reminds me of Lampard with the impeccable timing of his runs into the box and his passing is not bad either. He's able to find and create space easily. A very useful player to have when playing vs low block teams, something we've struggled with all season.

I get that, but someone like Skriniar is a great choice, but just not sure if he's gonna leave Inter

Absolutely. 2005-2009 we were at a same league as the Bayerns, Reals and Barcas. Now we are there with maybe Dortmund and even that is a stretch. Second tear team.

If he uses us as a stepping stone as Eden I don't mind one bit.

I think we are only a step up club for Real now. You wouldn't push to leave Chelsea for anyone else.

No one is going to leave us for Bayern, only a German would choose moving there instead of us.

Barca look to be on a decline and they definitely cannot afford to be spending 100m anymore.

Havertz might be tempted by Madrid in a few years time, but on the flip side, he might never be needed there.
