Gutter press but still:

Apparently Timo is not happy here, which surprised TT.

I doubt Timo is unhappy enough to give up that big fat contract to return to Germany though.

One to get @justs hopes up. 😉

Try to keep up with the pace axman. If you read the Christiano Ronaldo thread in the rumours section you will see I have recommended wagering ten of the English pounds on Timo winning the Golden Boot this season.

"Timo said: "First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That's the fact. I could be happy everywhere. It is clear I want to play more, and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and, also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup.""

taken from the express. Question is who is willing to take him?

Gvardiol could become for Chelsea what Werner became for Leipzig! A natural fit. Mukiele though, I don't rate that much, isn't he quite prone for costly mistakes?

Looks like he told Tuchel he wants to leave. I really wish he was a success, I was very excited when we signed him. He was one of the hottest prospects around, like what Haaland is now.

He’s been shocking and it’s probably best for both parties to end it now. I still believe he can do a lot better than what we’ve seen, I think it’s a case of wrong player for wrong team.

Imagine Werner at Liverpool or high pace counter attacking team, he’d excel. Unfortunately we don’t play like that.

Put him in any colour shirt you want. Blue, Red, Pink with Yellow dots he's not going to suddenly have a good first touch, close control or a sound technique. His decision making is poor too. All told he is a dreadful footballer.

Nah, give him a little bit more space (aka not the PL or at least not a possession based system) and a second striker to play alongside with and I guarantee you that he'll hit double digits in no time again. There is a reason that he actually manages to get into all these dangerous situations regardless his "talent with the ball meets feet" but always lacks half a sec to make a sound decision resulting in a funny meme-loop.

I love Timo.  I appreciate his work ethic and he obviously showed much more talent in his Leipzig days than the crappy 4 goal a season Winger we bought from the Bundesliga.

So I wouldn't entertain selling him until we clear the deadwood from the attack.  There's much worse than Timo here and losing Timo means they'll get more minutes.

But he hasn't worked out and unlike some of our other options there are clubs that will actually want him.  He's a proven elite Bundesliga goal scorer so teams in Germany will always take a punt on him at some price.

If we can use him to obtain some Gvavidol cheaper or recoup a decent amount of the fee we paid he can go but we absolutely need new attacking players.

It's a shame because Timo is one of the extremely few signings we made under Marina were we didn't badly get ripped off on the fee.

Beating Liverpool to Timo and getting a 23 year old 30+ goal a season player for less than 50m looked good business but sometimes it just doesn't work.

But i'd be very very surprised if Timo didn't outperform the rest of our attackers at their next clubs.

That's a lot of "wants" weetee!

Space, a strike partner, counter-attacking setup. You should probably add in opponents who play a high defensive line.

He’s abit like Robbie Keane, one of them footballers that will put the ball in back of net when he has no time, when he has too much time on the ball, he messes up.

I get what you're trying to say Dan, but Robbie Keane was miles better technically than Werner. Much more agression too.

The one player I could really compare Werner to, in pretty much every regard, is Robert Fleck!

Yea, forgot to add that one tbh. 😉

I for one am thinking that nowadays, at top level, you need a fitting system within a fitting team to really get going: Timo is (imho) a heavily system based player. Those exist and you may call them bad footballers but is that really the case if he‘d flourish in a specific yet not exotic environment? Dunno. I‘d be surprised if you‘d tell me our system plays to Timo‘s strenghts.

edit: just to be clear, just: Timo imho isn‘t one for AAA clubs, maybe Atleti or Juve (and mostly likely rather as a super sub) as he clearly lacks in rather basic parameters.

Understand your point weetee, but personally I can't see what Werner's strengths are.

Yes, he has some pace but I don't think he is up there with Overmars or Shevchenko type speed. People also talk about his movement, and alright, with open space for him to run into, that's an outlet. But you don't get an awful lot of that space in the EPL and he still has to control the ball and be able to carry with him at pace. Neither are his strong points. And when that open space in front isn't there and he's trying to create a yard in a packed penalty area, his movement and anticipation are not the best. He doesn't, for me, have that instinct for the right movement and calm finishing ability that nearly all top class strikers have.

Talk about how we have other forwards to be shifted before Timo.  Deary me.

Each of our other forwards have at least one redeemable quality. Timo no longer does as even his once much vaunted work ethic decreased dramatically last season.

I would be happy to see all our forwards binned off bar Broja and Mount, but Timo is far and away the top of the list. 270k a week for someone who became as useless for us as Lukaku last season.
