Timo Werner

Talk about how we have other forwards to be shifted before Timo.  Deary me.

Each of our other forwards have at least one redeemable quality. Timo no longer does as even his once much vaunted work ethic decreased dramatically last season.

I would be happy to see all our forwards binned off bar Broja and Mount, but Timo is far and away the top of the list. 270k a week for someone who became as useless for us as Lukaku last season.

I'd argue that Timo is at least above Bats in the pecking order. I assume bats would be the forward we have to shift before him?

Lol I forgot about Bats. But his deal expires in the summer so no big deal if he does not leave. He is not a first team option anyway, like Barkley and Baka.

Timo on the other hand with 270k a week has 3 years left so needs shifting ASAP.

I love Timo.  I appreciate his work ethic and he obviously showed much more talent in his Leipzig days than the crappy 4 goal a season Winger we bought from the Bundesliga.

So I wouldn't entertain selling him until we clear the deadwood from the attack.  There's much worse than Timo here and losing Timo means they'll get more minutes.

But he hasn't worked out and unlike some of our other options there are clubs that will actually want him.  He's a proven elite Bundesliga goal scorer so teams in Germany will always take a punt on him at some price.

If we can use him to obtain some Gvavidol cheaper or recoup a decent amount of the fee we paid he can go but we absolutely need new attacking players.

It's a shame because Timo is one of the extremely few signings we made under Marina were we didn't badly get ripped off on the fee.

Beating Liverpool to Timo and getting a 23 year old 30+ goal a season player for less than 50m looked good business but sometimes it just doesn't work.

But i'd be very very surprised if Timo didn't outperform the rest of our attackers at their next clubs.

Do you not get bored honestly? I am convinced now that he has stolen your girl or he got the number of the girl you fancied in the nightclub and you never.

This is a Werner thread and you still manage to keep talking about Pulisic. WOW. Annoying beyond belief. I get why people don't rate him as their personal opinion but your drivel about him is just plain boring now.

Understand your point weetee, but personally I can't see what Werner's strengths are.

Yes, he has some pace but I don't think he is up there with Overmars or Shevchenko type speed. People also talk about his movement, and alright, with open space for him to run into, that's an outlet. But you don't get an awful lot of that space in the EPL and he still has to control the ball and be able to carry with him at pace. Neither are his strong points. And when that open space in front isn't there and he's trying to create a yard in a packed penalty area, his movement and anticipation are not the best. He doesn't, for me, have that instinct for the right movement and calm finishing ability that nearly all top class strikers have.

Look at highlights of his first season. He was regularly getting put through on goal, regularly had space to run into and as a result contributed with a combined 26 goals and assists.

Did he miss a few? yep - a boatload. But he was getting in the positions and we were finding him.  The amount of times he was through on goal were numerous, resulting in either a goal, a penalty or a fluffed chance.

That stopped almost the second Tuchel came midway through that season. I think he only got 2 or 3 prem  goals after tuchel arrived that year after which the spaces and chances dried up.

Werner is not a great footballer. He is one of the worst with the ball at his feet that we have seen at the club.

But if we played to his strengths he would help solve our goals issue.

The worry is the impact that has on the rest of the team, oh, and the fact that it would require a complete change of style, back to the quick progressive football of pre slump frank.

That's a lot of "wants" weetee!

Space, a strike partner, counter-attacking setup. You should probably add in opponents who play a high defensive line.

Last point is the key. If we play soton every week, werner is our best forward

I'm just mystified as to why some fans praise TT so much, when since he came in the attack has been stifled all in the name of defence and now that's broken we are f**ked. TT is too pragmatic a manager to allow our forward line to express itself and rarely has he played to the strengths of the players that were brought prior to his arrival. Although at times Werner is his own worst enemy he needs the ball over the top or a through ball to run onto, same with Lukaku; Sterling will want the same but unfortunately I doubt will get in.  I really don't see the value in playing the likes of James and Chillwell, two of the best WB in the world, who are going to cross the ball all day long and have no one in the middle. This mess will continue while we have no CF that can play to TT's style.

Still there is 4-5 weeks to the window closes...lets wait and see.

I think if we have a creative magician who would occasionally pass the ball forward or even think about getting the ball into the box

then he may have a chance✌️

I think you might be waiting a while, TT needs his other 6 defenders first before he even starts thinking about playing forward thinking football.

Where's the driver? I didn't even write a word.

Axeman said Werner should be the 1st attacker out because all our other attackers have redeemable features as opposed to Werner who has clear strengths even if we don't play in a way that uses them.

Pulisic has no redeemable features, he's literally not good at anything as the statistics and data shows.

Selling Werner before Pulisic is a big mistake and the only argument for doing so is that teams may actually want Werner while we won't be able to find any takers for Pulisic.

If we sign another attacker then selling Werner makes perfect sense but with the current squad losing Werner will just cause deadwood like Christian to play more minutes which makes us weaker.

May be the only club we could sell him too.

Juve are linked but they passed on a 29.7mill option on 2 year loanee Morata to try and lower the price so I doubt they could afford Timo.

I love how these players who are so high and mighty with their ego saying they want to leave and are not happy yet when asked to lower their wages they go MIA.

Even Lukaku lowered his wages to get the football he craved. How about you Timo?

Personally I don't think he's great but Pulisic and Ziyech are worse, at least Werner actually runs and can drag defenders out of position (and he had a very decent amount of goal contributions in 2020/21). I'd rather we sold those two first. Not to mention Werner can cover as ST if Broja leaves. If Werner and Broja leave Kai Havertz would be our only ST

But we're paying him £15m a year...and he runs a lot!! I'm absolutly convinced that TB has Werner in his sights to move him on and if he can't get him totally off the books I reckon he will loan him out and pay 50%.

If we went for Gvardiol and lent Werner to Leipzig, even if we paid half his salary it will still save us £7.5m a year, or in fact will probably offset all of Gvardiol's wages for the year.

I'm all for it if he's desperate to go, even a loan to Juventus. If Juvents is willing to replace a non-scoring striker Morata with another, who are we to stop them?

He really needs a reality check if he's whinging about lack of game time, we replaced Lukaku with Sterling, it's the same number in the team, and Ziyech is likely to move on too. If he's looking for an easy way out, so be it.

Can't stop laughing with these Juventus rumors. These Italian moronic leech clubs literally want players for free while they offer nothing in return. f**k them and we should ask for 60 mill and let them have him forever.

We keep loaning Italian clubs players. We play right in to their hands.

The bad thing is Tuchel doesn't really have time for such mundane things as playing to the strengths of his players.

He's far too minded to his controlled possession game. The team is suffering for it but I give him a pass due to his good work season Frank got sacked.

I just wish he would identify the players that fi this game and buy them

Apparently willing to take a 50% pay cut to return to Leipzig

Would be a good move for him. A team that will play to his strengths and where he has proven he can score large numbers of goals. Just what he needs on world cup year.

Except that Leipzig in fact moved away from their all out pressing game and play a lot more like Chelsea does now under Tedesco.
still can see them being interested in him.
