Erling Haaland

Marina is good if Haaland wants to move and if we want him I think we get him even if Dortmund don't want to sell. Their stance makes no sense, selling him for his release clause next summer when they can make that and 50% more on top just seems like they're trying to bait us to over pay.

Let's look at it logically they struggled to make UCL last season and without significant investment I would assume the same thing again this coming season. If Man U pay the £80m for Sancho that is a lot of money for a team like Dortmund to uncover another couple of diamonds for the future.

The question that needs to be asked is what do Dortmund get by waiting til next summer? They lose a chunk of his transfer fee but, they keep their best player. Where they to invest into their team maybe they can build on their cup win and try and challenge Bayern for the title and maybe a run in Europe.

But, surely from a business pov you sell this year for more than the release clause get a player or two thrown in and build a very good side not just to flip players for profit but to actually build a dynasty.

My offer would be slow roll as Chelsea aren't in a rush to broker this deal worst case scenario we tap him up and guarantee he wants us next season.

I think €100m with €20-30m add ons (UCL win, EPL win, top goal scorer in the league etc. Realistic targets but with the money spaced out) plus we offer Tammy on a loan with a buy option say £30m I think that's fair.

Absolutely zero, zero chance we broker something where we sign him next season. It just simply won’t happen. Think of the logistics mate. The club are crying, CRYING out for a world class centre forward. We’ve just won the UCL and finished 4th. If the club don’t invest in a world class striker this summer we simply can’t rely on Timo Werner; he’s utterly shambolic. It’s either Haaland this summer or not at all and I’d bet my house on that. If we don’t get him this summer there’s no possibility at all of him arriving next summer; the club needs to secure a forward for next season. They won’t start the next campaign anticipating Jorginho being our top scorer again.

For what it is worth, I think we will sign him, but it will drag on. I genuinely believe we have the money there and this absolutely stinks of the Shevchenko situation from 2007. You’ll wake up one morning and it will be done. The club don’t bag massive signings like this in public.

Bloody hell, we’ve actually won the champions league. It hasn’t really sunk in yet!

As good as it is to win the actual cup again I know what you mean you kind of forget it this time and you have to keep reminding yourself nope it really happened. I see so many similarities between this win and the last one but one key difference.

While 2012 saw the end of an era and the dawning of a new one, this year it feels like the start of a dynasty. Not to say the last win didn't start one if you look at some of the players we acquired between last winning it and now despite a good few hiccups generally we have still won big titles even if its spread across the 9 years.

In 2012 we were beginning to change the old guard we lost a few key players that season and in the next few, it was then crucial we began a new sporting project. We signed Eden Hazard and this is where essentially the circle completes itself. The win in 2012 set up the win in 2021.

Eden became our sporting project we attempted to build a team around him so that one day we would win the UCL again. Ironically it was the money he brought in for us that gave us our second title.

This is no fluke but a carefully orchestrated plan. It was a win win situation signing Eden in 2012. Through being the best team in the world we signed the best young player in the world, we helped him develop and our reward was title after title followed by a huge paycheck for our most prized asset.

In 2021 we look to repeat the process. If we sign Erling and sell him in 5-7 years. You would assume not only would we make our money back through titles but also when he leaves we should get a fat payout again.

The main difference here though is as good as signing Erling Haaland would be for us as a club I would argue we can afford to wait another season to get him for half the prize assuming we do actually sign him despite the competition.

We are in a much better place squad wise and arguably financially this time around. Unlike in 2012 when we needed Eden to be the focal point of our team, this time we have so many young talented players that the team can be built around, Erling would be the cherry on the top.

Market is really quite in general. Maybe a knock on affect from the Euros, or maybe as far as we are concerned all our efforts are on this deal.

Yeah, perhaps one big move to kickstart the market

Am expecting that to be first PSG signings Hakimi and followed quickly by United signing Sancho.

I'm starting to wonder if we will get anyone in this summer, all the top players are taken or going for extortionate prices.

Sometimes being pessimistic leads to positive results; I told myself for that weeks straight we’d have no chance beating City in the final.

These transfer don’t happen overnight; we’re talking 1/10 of the way to a billion pounds. The clubs will invest in these talents; you’ll recuperate most of it back on shirt sales with Haaland over the next few years. He’s more than a player, he will be a global superstar.

Just another note of caution in dealing with Raiola. Not only did Milan lose one of the world's top keepers due to him, but United have Pogba, 1 year left on the deal he signed from Juve from for what 90mill? I expect he leaves on a free next year too.

Sign Haaland and dont get him to pen an 8, 9 or 10 year deal and we could see the same happen to us.

Excellent point. The club need a clear plan about what will happen 3/4 years down the line as Raiola will screw us.

Tbf though: Milan would have lost him a couple of years ago since they were astonishingly bad. And United..don't play the role a player like Pogba would expect his club to do to put it nicely. If those two clubs would be anywhere near title challenging stuff (and play a decent role in the CL..) I guess those players would eventually stay there. Pogba is played criminally imho at United too so there is that as well.

But in general one has to agree of course: the times that you (=AAA club) sign a player and can expect to keep him for years to come if the general basis is sound are gone.

Pogba for me is over rated as he is. I don't understand how he wins player of the game completely mishandling the ball around France own area. He lost the ball 3 times (as I recall the game) in an area you don't lose the ball in. Kante sure makes him look good doesn't he. Anyway he is quality closer to opponent box and a slower league is the right league for him.

In terms of personality and the type of striker we need, Haaland fits the bill perfectly. I don't think he is the right fit for City and Pep. Zlatan and Haaland are not like for like but they have the same strengths. Pep totally mismanaged Zlatan at Barcelona.

Not that I have information on either of these players and their dealings, but you would have to think that if Raiola made it clear both were leaving/will leave because ambition drives them too do so both clubs would have sold before losing them for free. Especially Milan.

Kane to City, Haaland to Chelsea 😁... I'd take it.

Think Spurs would be silly not to consider it. Especially if City are willing to throw in a couple of good players. That money if invested well could seriously improve them, like Liverpool did with Coutiniho.

I’ve changed my tune on this transfer from optimism a few weeks back to a pessimistic view now. I don’t believe this transfer will happen. I think what will happen is Dortmund will take the cuts and get the most out of him next season before he will eventually sign for either Madrid or Barca. I can understand it from Erling’s camp as well; it’s an easier move and he is far more likely to achieve success there based solely on the fact La Liga is an utterly dead league with shambolic defences which, rightly so, Haaland will have an absolute field day with.

The boy, like Mbappe, strikes me as the type of player who will fancy an easy ride. I don’t think he’s got the bottle to play in the Premier League and I think Raiola will be quietly telling him that Spain is the next destination.

What Chelsea do to address the shocking issue we have with scoring goals will be an interesting one; but it certainly won’t be Kane, Lukaku or Haaland. We absolutely can not stick with Werner going in to next season. The guy is shot and needs to be moulded in to an attacking number 10/creative centre forward; not a chance he leads the line to a title shot. Especially not when City, United and Liverpool have an abundance of goal scorers.

We need to move and we need to move fast. It is CRITICAL this is squared away by the start of pre season.

I am so tempted now to post the It's happening gif  :laugh2:

But I won't, as people would probably slaughter me for giving them the wrong idea.

Wise call Val, wise call. Am fairly sure my posted gifs are 100% bang on and hey if I am wrong good for us all.

Also, note to self, I really need someone to ban my access to Twitter and other various Chelsea feeds! This time of the year I can’t get away from them! Constantly searching for news and updates; it’s an obsession!!!! My poor eyebaws.

I reckon is a case of 2 in and 2 out. Tammy goes to whoever gets closest to our fee, Giroud to Milan on a free, Armando Broja takes one place, Jude SB the other.
