Rightly most of us want him gone. However feasible is that though?

We paid a huge sum for him and he is on club record wages. The club won't let him go for peanuts it is not how we do business.

So who could afford him?

Bayern? - they would not go near him

Juventus? - They just spent a load on a new striker?

Other Italian sides? - No, only loans.

Top PL sides? - they are laughing at us.

Barca or Real? The former has enough problems, the latter is getting Mbappe and Pogba already.

Newcastle? - maybe.

I really think loans to Italy where we pay a lot of his wages are the only way.

And that was the biggest reason I didn't want him here. If he came on a free, loaning him out after a sh*t season would have been fine but after investing a 100m fee and signing his fat ass to a ridiculous five-year contract I see no realistic way for us to sell him without taking a huge hit. No top club would want any part of him and who would want to pay anything close to what we did given his age, attitude, overall ability and a terrible form? The best we could hope for is one of Serie A clubs taking him on loan and even then we'd probably have to pay half of his wages or something like that.

The irony is, we have to keep playing that lump, if nothing else, at least in hope that he'll start perfrorming and regain some of his market value. Right now, we'd have trouble trying to give him away for free, let alone getting some of our money back.

It's a disaster.

Yeah your Marina really messed up on this one Roman 😉

By the way. where are all these people that wanted him here and were bashing @Argo, @Scott Harris, me and the like for being against that transfer? Where are you? I couldn't be bothered going all the way back and digging up quotes but everything we were worried was going to happen, did.

Has to be sold this summer, although we will take a loss. Sometimes you have to just suck it up.

What makes this all the worse is that he seems to be one of those players whose appearances are tied into his contract- if that is still a thing, because on form he should be nowhere near the team.

I prefer how we play without him even if we lose, and have no confidence in the last half of the season like this.

We were sold that he would at least put away the small teams, but he isn't, he makes us one dimensional and slow.

It will end up resulting in Tuchel going when it absolutely shouldnt.

Tuchel signed him though.

84 years old still sexy Giroud just scored a brace in the Derby against Inter, the second one was a beautiful first touch turn and shoot.

I've missed today's game from 2nd half towards, but it's amazing how we spent 100m on a player who seems even less suited to us than the two Bench warmers we had last season.

We need to be sending Lukaku propaganda to PSG ASAP. They’re our only hope.

Oh how did I forget about them...

Well they are not a real football club to be fair.

Realistically he’s not going anywhere there’s parallels to the Kepa signing. Only he’s improved under Tuchel thought his value has fallen 80% couldn’t be moved on because of the investment so no way will this lump be going anywhere. In the end the cancer will spread to the entire club and The Board will do what they always do & try another manager to coax out a performance from him. Until the people at the club that target & sign such turkeys as him , Werner, Pully & to a lesser extent Havertz & Zyech (tbf Hakim is much improved on the right in a 4 at back) are held accountable nothings gonna change. Last decent striker we’ve signed was Costa feels like many years ago now.

Useless. Ziyech kept crossing into the box and he was nowhere to be seen to get to them. He’s not eve to bully league one defenders anymore. Tuchel should sit him o the bench and play Havertz or Werner, at least you get some pressing at the top.

Lol for that to work Roman would have to bring back Conte lmao

Think I am right in saying that since Rom gave the Interview saying he is unhappy here, would like to go back to Inter, would rather use a broken glass covered toilet for a $h*t than play for Chelsea etc that he was scored just one goal, vs a none league side.

If he was unhappy then he's certainly unhappy now. There is little doubt in my mind he wants to go back to Inter/Italy as soon as possible. If we are lucky then perhaps Inter will be back in for him and we can recoup most of our money. They replaced him with Dzeko and he's old so they will need to bring in another striker in the summer very likely. We wouldn't get our money back but they paid over 70 million pounds for Lukaku after a sh*te season at United so we may get a large portion of the outlay back.

The most concerning thing was that this was all so predictable and by your average fan to boot, so what does that say about our board. Why are we just so f**king clueless when it comes to acquiring attacking players, it’s actually mind bending.

Hah yeah right. Will be loans to buy IF they try to get him. Let's see.

We better hope Milan or Napoli overtake Inter to the title and leave them pondering if Lukaku was really the factor that propelled them last year. I believe that'd be the only situation in that Inter comes back showing some money to get him back, otherwise they'll just lowball the hell out of us.

Edit: and I'd gladly take the lowball offer, but I know it doesn't work that way. Sigh... If only the club listened to me and spent the money on protein bars for Tammy...

It is a huge mess.

None of us know, but he certainly doesnt give the appearance of someone who wants to be here.

My 10 yr old lad made a comment today - "Dad, when Lukaku used to play for inter or Belgium, he used to always be so sweaty and wet. Why isnt he now? Is it because England is cold?"

Out of the mouth of babes.

Is clear he does not want to be here. He is not trying. Yet we pick him. What message does that send to the rest of the side?

Cause he is a big money signing he plays even though he does not give a $h*t about you, the club or our fans?

He should get the Malouda treatment. Ever game he is picked we are blatantly being disrespected and being disrespectful to all those who ever worse the shirt with pride and actually tried.

What’s going on with him right now is more than just his ability. For me he’s downed tools on Tuchel. He’s not even trying, which is worse than not being good enough.

Just compare how he played off the bench v Villa or against Brighton before that interview came out…he bullied opposition defenders. Has done nothing since the big fall out at the start of the year and couldn’t lay a glove on league one centre halfs. That’s down to attitude if you ask me.

Disappointing to say the least.

Bang on mate. Look at how he was against Villa before the fallout. Physical, actually working hard and decent movement.

No injury since. No covid. Only the interview. Is he against TT? Maybe but cannot rule out him deliberately trying to decrease his value with these displays.

Either it carries on or he gets dropped. Either way his value sinks quicker than hit gut.

Should we be asking who can afford him ? or can we afford to keep playing him ?

The former, because we cannot afford to keep playing him and expect to meet any of our goals other than maybe top 4.

I have said this multiple times today and will say here again. He is disrespecting us, the manager, club and team mates. Why are we allowing it to carry on? It is like Roman, TT and the club are saying it is fine.

I ask anyone on here is this an overreaction? Someone tell me I am seeing this wrong and Lukaku is not basically giving us all the middle finger and is still being allowed to play and get away with it? @Argo , @Scott Harris , @abramovich this is worse than I feared.

Everyone, even those that didn't want him hear, thought the very least we would get is a goal scorer. What some were worried about was what we would be giving up for those goals.

Well we don't get the goals, we get the low work rate and half arsed attitude, the ego, the wasted place in the team he takes up, when we have younger players on the bench with plenty of work rate, no attitude, no ego. But worse of all could come, he could get Tuchel the sack. We could end up with Roman bringing in Martinez to try and get the best out of Lukaku, depressing or what ?

Depressing indeed. Again though why is TT still picking him? Imo Rom is deliberately playing poorly.

Rom is playing poorly because his attitude is......

"i cant play in this sh*tty system"

Sad Season 4 GIF by The Office

It does make sense he’s downed tools for Tuchel.

Lukaku has watched us closely and how Chelsea operates as a club, when the big money signing on the highest wages isn’t working out, we’ll throw the dice with a few other managers to make sure of the investment. He knows he has a lot of power, only Pep Guardiola could bin a £100m signing on the highest wages and his board would be like “yes sir, do what you like”, but not Tuchel.. not a Chelsea manager.
