I said that if we bought him, we would have to change our style of play otherwise it would a pointless transfer.

we didn't change, and it is pointless.

Certainly when you put it like that it looks more and more like a marquee signing from the board. Why would Tuchel request a player that would force him to change from his preferred system? Obviously while he is manager, he is not going to come out and say he never wanted the player. But the truth will eventually be known.

Tuchel was beaming in the presser after his signing was announced. While I do believe he's making a genuine attempt to become a better political manager he's never going to become a puppet.

My guess is, he panicked at the prospect of another season of a lot of missed chances or thought adapting him to the system was going to be a lot easier than it was, possibly a bit of both.

That doesn't solve anything.

Perhaps not long term, but it creates some space and time and focuses on near term results, which in my opinion, does solve things.  I care about Chelsea results and less about the drama behind the scenes.

Even if he moving to the side people complaining he is not there when the pass arrive in the center. If he stay in the center then they pass to side then he got blamed not moving enought 😩 to some people you can’t never do anything good. Well im happy that even the exstriker like Alan shearer or Ian wright saw the same thing. They don’t pass to Lukaku. Odoi doesn’t do nothing in the match and Tuchel keeps playing him next to Lukaku. They said ( if a striker make so many runs without service then even they would stop moving up front)

Patson Daka got sh*t service last night, scored.

Mason Greenwood fed on scraps last night, scored.

Aubameyang played in poverty Arsenal teams, constantly challenged for the golden boot.

Good strikers (let alone the great one's this embarrassment of a player thinks he's on par with) make a difference under any circumstances, any system, any manager, any teammates.

Lukaku is a top scorer if you give him the exact ball he wants, but he won't work hard for it otherwise.

He is very much like RVN. Give him the service, make chances for him, and he will get goals, but he won't make anything himself and is not much use outside the box.

RVN had good movement and scored enough to make amends for his baggage.

For Lukaku to do the same, a 1 a game average (with a good chunk vs City, Liverpool and UCL latter stages) is minimum requirement.

Has been said before on here and it is very simple.

We know Lukaku will not adapt to TT system.

So either we drop him and get rid quickly or TT needs to completely overhaul the system and have everyone from Jorgi forward constantly looking to play straight in to Roms runs.

The fans have made it clear they're at the end of their tether. When the crowd don't like you that's it, ask Benitez.

Only way back for him now is if he apologizes and then starts putting the hard yards in (or starts producing enough to counteract the lack of workrate) but we all know his ego will get in the way.

I await to see how the bridge reacts on Sunday.

This has got to be fake. Did Klopp forget to tell Jota he can't be expected to make things happen himself and can only score if the pass is perfect to his feet?

That was a great signing for them, they saw his runs for Wolves and didn't hesitate. The last time we did that was with Kante, since then we can't seem to be able to identify a good signing from a PL club at all.

Really good read.

Its clear Lukaku has to do better.

Its also clear we are not playing direct enough or with enough quality to get the best out of any of our attackers.

Quality explaination but people who doesn’t want him here find in everything a stick to trow at him.

Like you "find in everything sticks to throw" at CHO and Ziyech. Hypocrite.

What you're struggling to understand is no one is saying is the other attackers are perfect. The system tax only works if a player works hard and at the very least does the bare basics.

Or do you think it's Thiago Silva's fault he's lazy and can't control a football?

I’m not the only one saying it, Wright Shearer and Rio ferdinand were all saying it because of the poor display of Odoi and Ziyech. ( were top ex footballer)You need to stop blaming 1 player alone and see the reason why we are in this place because of the injuries of both our wings James and  Ben and Tuchel keeps playing 343 when we don’t have player for the positions. Before Lukaku came in how many assist do player as Mount, Odoi and Ziyech have ?? I can’t believe that 1 player can cause all this on his own. You just using him as a excuse.😞

You’re  blinded by your hate for Lukaku.

Sure, why don’t compare him Neymar he can takes on 4 guys and score. Player have some abilities why not compare headers won by Jotta vs Lukaku.

How anyone can claim its all Lukakus fault after watching how terrible our attack has been pretty much since Tuchel arrived is beyond me. Lukaku has to take his share with some terrible displays and lack of effort at times. But for everything good Tuchel has done since he came here with the defence and midfield control he hasnt moved our attack on in the slightest, in fact its regressed with us relying on individual goals from full backs (mostly), set pieces and penalties. Lukaku was brought in to score goals, he best scores goals when a team plays to his strengths. So Tuchel had 3 choices, change our style and formation to suit him, stick with how we play knowing it wont suit him at all, not play him. Unfortunately he has picked option 2, and we are where we are now. This was always a possibility when we were so reliant on being defensively tight and controlling, if that falls down throw form or injuries then we had very little chance of taking the games to teams and attacking to win.

So if he sticks with option 2 for the rest of this season then we are screwed and will likely not win a trophy and be battling for 4th.

🤣😂🤣😂

You've totally ruined any slight argument you may have had mentioning Shearer, you do realise that he became the PL highest ever scorer with the likes of Kieran Dyer, Shola Ameobi and Jermaine Jenas as his "service" don't you?

I'm not for one second saying the system is perfect ofcourse it isn't, but there's basics a footballer has to do regardless of what's behind him.

Do you think even our version of Eto'o would be doing this bad in this team let alone Drogba or Costa?

He opened his gob and brought all this on himself, up till that point virtually 100% of the forum/fanbase was behind him.

Look at Werner, fans sing his name, can't hit a barn door, they sing his name some more. Lukaku booed off at Brighton, no song about him.

His attitude has been terrible the last two matches. Watching him fight and argue with Ziyech was embarrassing. Really hope Tuchel doesn't start him on Sunday. He's gotta have a better attitude and work ethic if he truly wants to make amends and turn things around. Bc - as things stand and I know I'm not alone in this - he can go kick rocks and go back Milan or Paris or where the hell ever.

Inter won't take him back, they've objectively upgraded with Dzeko.

Our best hope is Paris panic buying him as Mbappe's replacement. Maybe Atletico at a push could be keen.
