February 16, 20224 yr Watching Inter vs Liverpool, not the most inspiring. Liverpool have the edge though still close. My only annoyance is a couple of times an Inter forward only has VVD to beat and then stops. WTF? why not run at him dummying and then use your body weight to try and knock him off balance to get a chance at goal instead they give up and pass backwards.......... February 16, 20224 yr Like it was ever in doubt. Oh to be that lucky and clinical. We have to work much garden and waste loads of chances to get 2 goals.
February 16, 20224 yr So pool and City get good scorelines and can rest players ahead of their second legs. What the betting we face an almighty struggle over both our games against Lille as our best case scenario? Edited February 16, 20224 yr by axman2526
February 16, 20224 yr Have to hand it to them as much as I don't like doing it. Both City and Pool as so ruthlessly efficient defensively and offensively.

You through enough talent and coaching expertise at it and sooner or later you’ll hit the target. They can field their under fives for the remainder of the PL season if they wish, so they can truly focus on it, and I just can’t see Pep making such an error as he did last year again. They do look improved on last year as a team and like I said, the rest of the sides in the competition do not look on their level. I think another final appearance is almost a given this season and I really can’t imagine they’ll balls it up this time. But I also respect that absolutely anything can happen in football and that most contributors on here believe that it’s already ours because despite appearances, we are actually by far and away the best side in the competition and everyone else is sh*t.

His numbers for the Premier League only are 216 appearances, 88 goals and 52 assists. Still only 27 years old. I do feel like he goes under the radar a bit but the level of consistency he's shown for City is really impressive. I don't think he goes under the radar in the eye of manager though. He is a nailed down starter for england who has gazillion of good forwards.

It is cl anything can happen. The one that won cl for us is not the concede nothing Mou 1.0 or Ancelotti free scoring chelsea. It was arguably our worst team in recent years and team who finished 20 points behind city.

This is interesting isn't it ... on paper they've lost Aguero and Ferran Torres, and added Grealish, which on face value you wouldn't think would help them improve LOL. Pep's been working with a very small squad - 22 (and that includes Benjamin Mendy who has mostly been in jail !) - and they've done very well to keep the outfield players mostly fit and available.
February 17, 20224 yr They've only been in one final since the start of the Millennium and that was last year against us. Currently they are in great form though they are capable of playing poorly and at times like against us it is KDB that bails them out. Yes they have a good enough team to win the Champions League this year, will they.......... don't think so.

Left Cancelo on the bench, and went with Zinchenko. He also dropped Rodri, and went with a midfield of Bernardo, Foden & Gundogan. He inexplicably started De Bruyne as a False 9. 51 minutes ago, strider6004 said: They've only been in one final since the start of the Millennium and that was last year against us. I think his/their inability to get into more 2 CL finals is because he 2nd guesses himself when he gets to the knockout stages. He somehow starts making bizarre selections, and dropping in form players. Can you really call 15 straight wins since their last loss in Oct good form? Their only solitary draw was against a dogged Southampton team. I am not sure they are that reliant on De Bruyne anymore, and you could argue he is on the wane though he is still a brilliant player. I feel they are more fluid now without a “9”, and having 3-4 No 10s in their starting lineup.
February 17, 20224 yr I see Conte has started his usual bust-up with the club hierarchy a little earlier than usual. Some great stuff in his interview : "'Four players left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have arrived. So even numerically instead of reinforcing, you may have, on paper, weakened," "Bentancur and Kulusevski are ideal prospects for Tottenham, because Tottenham are seeking young players they can develop and grow, not players who are ready. That is the issue. "This is the vision and the philosophy of the club. It is inevitable that, if you want to grow quicker and if you want to be competitive more rapidly, you need players with a lot of experience, because they also raise the experience level of the overall team. "But I repeat, I have realised now that this is the vision of the club." Seems like he is already frustrated with the team he has at his disposal. And perhaps alarmed at the way Levy operates with the slow realisation of how bad things are. His two new signings are just 'developing' players, not the full package, apparently. Doesn't sound like he has the patience to wait and build a team. If he doesn't get vast sums to drastically overhaul the entire squad this summer- and let's face it, they need to get rid of a lot of dead wood, starting with Emerson Royal- then he'll probably walk.

Before the CL final we won Man City in the league and FA Cup. So in that context I don't buy into this narrative that they lost because of Pep's decisions, we were simply better against them. Mount taking the ball and playing Kai fast was a perfect punch regardless of what Man City does.

Look at the context and the match, we won multiple times prior to the final against them regardless of Rodri or any other player for that matter. And they still had the majority of possession, Chilwell/Mount won 1 ball in the midfield and quickly played Havertz that was making a great run and that's it, that happens regardless of what players are on the pitch. I will never agree that we won the CL because Man City made blunders, our press won us the game, mainly the energy of Mount and Kante. Werner even had 2 clear cut chances in the first 20 minutes or so from inside the box prior to us scoring the winning goal... Edited February 17, 20224 yr by Gol15
February 17, 20224 yr Man City lost the CL final because on the day that mattered we were the better team, well organised, almost perfect pressing and dangerous when attacking. They could not play their game because we didn't let them, simple as. So no, I don't agree with the Pep lost himself the final narrative, we would have beaten them whoever Pep decides to play. After all, we had beaten them twice before with other team and tactics. Edited February 17, 20224 yr by RMH

Can already see Conte's masterplan: he'll get them into the EL, which will be considered an achievement due to circumstances, then he'll throw a tantrum, get sacked, run against Poch for the Utd job and if he doesn't get it, he still has his reputation untainted for the project at Newcastle either next season or the other where he'll have free reign and will earn another few millions. Easy.
February 17, 20224 yr DM has 11 f**kin ELEVEN articles about bindippers yesterday undeseved win. They were playing counter in the 1st half and delaying the game, they were utter sh*t in the 2nd until that lucky break at the end of the game. When we became the Champions of the world there were 1 maybe 2 articles.
