June 19, 20233 yr Doesn't need a loan, he's ready now. Ship Koulibaly out and keep Chalobah. Simples.

T.Silva is 39 this season, can't see him playing too many games in a back 4 this year. Go deep enough into the cup competitions and there 50 games up for grabs. Fofana and Chalobah scrap it out for RCB and Badiashile and Clwill for LCB.

Given Potter and Lampard's reluctancy to play Chalobah over Silva I can't see Pochettino doing the same. For reference, Zouma and Terry only played 9 matches during the 2016/17 season when he had one match a week. Chalobah deserves far more.

You are forgetting the likely injury to Wes Fofana as well though. What's the betting Gusto and whoever the back up left back is play more than James and Chilwell as well @Mod?

Wasn't Zouma just on the way back from his knee shattering that season? Playing time was always going to be reduced, especially with a team that was winning. Terry was 37 that year too, Silva is going to be 39. He really isn't going to play that much, i imagine he's just there to mentor the young lads.
June 21, 20233 yr A loan with obligation to buy in the works with Inter Milan. Club working on including a buy back but there are stumbling blocks. Like I said, he'd be 5th choice CB and 3rd choice RB in a one game a week season. Probably has bigger aspirations and may look at an England call up for the future. Can't fault him for wanting more.
June 21, 20233 yr I don't understand why we haven't tried him at DM. It's not like he's a horrible passer.
June 21, 20233 yr If it is his choice, then can't blame him and a loan at Inter is a good option (if those feckers can get the money to pay for the loan). But I wouldn't sell of our own accord, Silva will start slowing down at some point and Trevoh is a very good rotation option for Silva/Fofana (let's see if Fofana does not get injured).

Ah pi$$ can we please stop doing business with them.
June 21, 20233 yr As it is Inter I would say they either need to put down a 2mill loan fee, and the buy obligation is set at 43mill, or they pay a straight up 35mill. Also have to think that, if Inter mess up again on the finances, their owners will lose the club so a buy obligation may be worthless.

We don't really have enough CB's either. Thiago Silva is 38, Fofana is injury prone, then we have Badiashile, Chalobah and Colwill, and I'm not convinced Colwill see's his future here with us.

We still have Azpi, James and Cucurella who can all at some capacity play as a CB if needs be. I would rather sell chalobah and promote another youth CB who can afford to sit on the bench a little bit

June 22, 20233 yr Bit concerning that if all the names mentioned do go, we are left without a full decent squad. I’d expect the current Chelsea model to start panic buying in July!

Having Chalobah here to be a unused sub for most the season when we can sell and get 20-30m for him is a no brainer

June 22, 20233 yr I watched games last season where he was in space and Silva especially didn’t pass to him. I don’t think he’s good enough for a nailed on starter every game, so it will be down to him how he feels about game time.

Yeah the Italy moved worked well for Tomori's international career tbf. The sooner we stop helping out Italian clubs with cheap loans and options to buy they never exercise the better.

Your first point was that we should be cashing in on him, no point cashing in if we're just going to spend the money and more on someone else. Chalobah pretty much always puts at least a 7/10 performance in, genuinely can't think of a single player i'd rather have for cover. Chalobah was just as good, if not better, than £80m Fofana last season.
