Your first point was that we should be cashing in on him, no point cashing in if we're just going to spend the money and more on someone else. Chalobah pretty much always puts at least a 7/10 performance in, genuinely can't think of a single player i'd rather have for cover. Chalobah was just as good, if not better, than £80m Fofana last season. For me Ideally it would be Scalvini. Excellent ball playing CB who plays on the right. Think Bastoni/Gvardiol/Colwill but the right footed version. Having Scalvini start alongside Colwill with Fofana, Silva, Badiashille as backup/rotation options is ideal. We dont need more than 5 proper CB's. The main reason for selling chalobah is for the FFP profits anyway. Not sure where you're getting the "at least a 7/10" performances from either.. hes had quite a few dodgy games this season, and a few bad mistakes as well that have led to the opposition scoring. Hes not that young either, hes about to turn 24 next week and these are the sort of ages where he should be playing week in week out and sadly for chelsea thats not gonna happen. Rather see him go to another club and do well there. Nothing against him as a player, just dont think hes good enough for Chelsea as a starter or a backup (assuming badiashille, silva as backups) p.s Fofana I always thought was overrated anyway, especially for that ridiculous pricetag, but because we've already spent so much on him I cant see him getting moved on anytime soon
July 20, 20232 yr Took the arm band for the first half last night and looked to marshal the defence. Said it once and i'll say it again, think we'd be incredibly stupid to sell him.

Organised the defence, and dealt well with the barrage of long-throws and deadballs that were flung into our box

July 20, 20232 yr hes had quite a few dodgy games this season, and a few bad mistakes as well that have led to the opposition scoring. I'm not sure I remember those games in fact I think when he played he was generally 7/10 and fairly safe . I say keep him defo would be crazy to sell .
July 20, 20232 yr Completely agree. Would be foolish to sell him now - especially with Fofanas injury in mind. There's also a chance that he'll grow with the responsibility of being a more experienced player in the squad.

I think he had a couple games that I can recall. Does it matter? Nope. He is our 4th cb.

Silva was our no 1 cb last year and he is well respected in the dressing room. Surely you won't just move him from 1st cb to 5th cb. So somebody else need to go. Edited July 20, 20232 yr by Bob stark

Injuries happen all the time throughout the season though, i think 5 CB's is needed when you have Fofana (injuries), Badiashile (missed 131 days injured last 2 seasons not including his current ongoing injury) and Silva (age) as three of your CB options. Had we sold Trev and Silva retired after this season we'd be spending £80m on someone new, Trev fills the roll perfectly and saves us a load of money. Bulking the squad out is exactly what the academy should be for.

"Rather see him go to another club and do well there." Can you just explain why would you rather a player leave us and do well away from the club when he could do well for Chelsea and save us 65 million on a ready made replacement?

Instant friendship and understanding with James too... Has made Palace's defence watertight. Him and Mitchel would improve out team.

He got some flack for a few missed tackles that I recall, but my reading of those was that he was forced to make a challenge because his fullback (you'll never guess which one) had flown in on an attacker and left a gaping hole behind him.

July 25, 20232 yr The irony after we sell, Reece/Gusto pick up long term injuries and we have no recognized right back.

July 25, 20232 yr refer to my original post in this thread, he has the makings of a great defender, give him to Thiago like. JT had with Desially his potential is huge
July 25, 20232 yr I was open to the possibility of selling earlier in the window , but with fofana gone for a minimum of 6-9 months , it would seem a strange decision to get rid now.
July 25, 20232 yr Apparently the rumours around Trev are from the same person who often leaks line ups half an hour before they officially go up, who is also a mate of Trevs. So will see.
July 25, 20232 yr I think he should be sold, has not improved and was not up to it during the preseason fixtures over the weekend. He was so poor last season . Levi is miles ahead . I am glad majority of those who were so bad last season are almost out the door. Hopefully we get Kepa out .

Improved or not... the problem is that we've just lost Wesley Fofana to a long term injury. It would have made sense selling him a month ago - but the timing of the sale now just seems odd. If rumours are true and we're looking to sell both Chalobah and Gallagher despite having had a long term injury for Fofana while not having closed Caicedo it surely must mean that the club has had a clear plan from the start to do so - regardless of injuries. Selling homegrown players is somewhat ideal due to the finanical part of it. Still, this one seems strange. Hopefully it'll all turn out to be part of a bigger picture by the end of August.

July 26, 20232 yr So our price for Trev is said to be 25mill. Pur preferred replacement is Marc Guehi who is valued at 50mill, though we do have a sell on %. Is that even an upgrade?
