Chelsea v Liverpool (PL) Sun 2nd Jan 2021 16:30 GMT

We really need to improve our home form and find a way to win this game. If we do we can at least continue trying to chase City. Draw or lose and we will inevitably be more focused on the chasing pack.

James, Chilwell, Silva, Christensen all out. Might have no choice to go with a back 4.

Mendy

Dave

Chalobah

Rudiger

Alonso

Kante

Kovacic

Ziyech

Mount

CHO

Lukaku

Is clear Jorgi is spent and needs time off.

Yes, as you have been suggesting Gol.

If TT is determined to stick with the same system then we best selected an attacking way against pool and City, as you sit back against them at your own risk.

We're more likely to get world peace than a win on Sunday.

My usual optimism is depleted just like our guys' energy reserves.

Reckon we should prepare for a battering.

I’ll bring the sausages, you bring the potatoes, @axman2526 can bring the mars bars and @Valerie needs to get the ice cream ready.

As I had seriously and culpably neglected my duty yesterday - how could I think everything would be alright without my pint of icecream - I'm going to have to work with gallons rather than pints of icecream for the bindippers match. And that's just for me, plus you three fellow worriers...that's a lorry. You guys had better come over to my place, we still have lorry drivers here

PS don't forget the sausages, potatoes and Mars bars.

I can't. I'll be spending the whole game going to the loo. It's our only chance of scoring.

We have had a particularly poor record against Liverpool at home in recent years. It would be great to beat them although that seems highly unlikely on current form. I am pretty sure Liverpool will sense our exhaustion and go all out for the win. It is imperative that we are clinical when we are presented with chances, if we are to get a result.

Get back all the loan players we can to boost the squad. If we cannot bring them back, play the under 23s here and given the first team some time off.

Unfortunately not that simple. The club that players are loaned to must agree to any recall. Lyon have already closed the door on Emerson returning for example. I can't see any successful loanees being allowed to return. Maybe Billy Gilmour as he seems to be totally out of favour at Norwich.

Yeah is true. So either we make several significant signings or we keep getting injuries and have to play the under 23s at the business end. Better we accept accept few losses now and rest the players we have left.

I would prioritize the league games in January. We only have 3 of those and it is important to consolidate top 4. I know it is Spurs in the league cup semi but play the youth in those games, and against Chesterfield. We cannot afford more injuries.

The irony of this match is that Liverpool fans are probably tired of not being able to chase down Man City so a draw doesn't suit anyone here but nobody wants to lose either.

They will be heavy favorites going into this one due to our squad not being close in a decent shape and we haven't been that amazing at home so anything but a win for Klopp would be a massive disappointment that he will try to play down in case of a draw or loss.

Big defeat coming I'm afraid.

Could be, but I think pool will declare at 1 or 2 and not risk a comeback when they know they have to win.

Thinking more on this @Gol15. If we are to have any hope of not getting beat we must change the shape and we have to be smart about who plays where.

Ideally that means no Alonso, but I just don't know who we can play besides him. Only other option is:

Mendy

Chalobah

Rudiger

Sarr

Dave

Then that means Sarr is in. So what is better, Alonso at left back against Salah with Toni yo try and help him while dealing with Jota, or Dave more comfortable with Salah cutting in but Toni and Chalobah shifted over?

Then there is midfield. We HAVE to leave Jorgi out he is physically spent and his back needs rest. So we have to push Kante and Kova as the 2 6s and hope.

Ahead of them we need our best 3 workers avaliable. Sadly no Werner but for me that means we go:

CHO

Mount

CP

More energy and pace than Ziyech and Havertz.

Then we have Lukaku and hoping he really has a good go at them.

It may cost us more injuries, but that seems our best bet. Jsut not sure on defence.
