Apparently Klopp would like to postpone the game? He's going to lose Mane and Salah later on which is more than we losing Mendy so maybe we can win more points than them anyway but if we somehow manage to win this one it would really be amazing.

Why?

Apparently Liverpool now have several players out with Covid and there may be more tomorrow. Not enough to get the game called off yet, but it might happen if they have more positive tests tomorrow.

Ah I see. Screw that we need all the help we can get and if they can field 13 players plus a keeper including youth team play the game.

Although having said that it would not be awful for us if it was postponed a we got some much needed rest.

So either way hopefully pool have had Jota, Salah, Mane, VVD, Allison and TAA all struck down and we can maybe beat them then or we get the weekend off to recover some players. Win win if that is the case.

Edit:

Ah it is only 3 players sick so far and not even confirmed by the second test yet.

Only injured for them are Thiago and The former Saint they loaned there last season who scored against us. Robertson suspended.

Klopp did say it would be obvious who was sick based on the line up, so clearly 3 first team players. Even if it is Salah, Mane and Trent that is not enough for us to win with all the Lukaku horsesh*t going on imo.

I simply cannot figure out how Salah and Mané can be stopped by Azpi and Alonso.
So hopefully Tuchel can do the miracle and find a solution.

Going by the two games are the same logic many are using how can Liverpool score past Rudiger and (hopefully) Silva when they couldn't score past a team with no CBs?

Seen ot suggested Lukaku is to be disciplined by the club, starting with the board deciding he is not available for this game.

Silva, Havertz and Werner are back in full training, with Lukaku possibly therefore out the former two may well start allowing TT to stick with his preferred system. Though Jorgis back is said to be playing up which may rule him out.

Mendy

Chalobah

Silva

Rudiger

Dave

Kante

Kovacic

Alonso

Mount

Havertz

CHO/Pulisic/Ziyech

It would be stupidity to discipline him by dropping him from this game. Pulisic up top against van Dijk. Christ they could play without a keeper.  Pick him for this game, get Werner back then discipline him.

Never rule anything out with our board lol.

Who is to say VVD is not one of their covid 3?

Did Klopp say which players tested positive? I imagine that since Liverpool is now experiencing issues, the prem will postpone the match.

No, apparently it would be obvious based on his team selection, so 3 regulars rather than their back up keeper.

If we are very lucky it is TAA, VVD and Salah.

If we are very unlucky, and basically we have been for 2 months, it will be Curtis Jones, Alex Ox and Joe Gomez.

Basically for us to have a good chance to win this game we would need pool to be missing the following along with the confirmed Thiago and Robertson:

Mane, Salah, Jota, Firmino, Henderson, VVD, TAA, Matip and Allison. If that can happen and they can still play then lady luck has smiled on us.

Apparently Allison and Robert Firmino, the latter has not been a starter of late, missed Liverpools training so the belief is they are 2 of the 3 covid cases.

I wouldn't be surprised if they find a few more cases tomorrow. That seems to have been the pattern when the virus hits teams.

Totally agreed. Not to mention Lukaku has found a decent run of form the last couple of games. If anything fine him for his comments.

With the game on Sunday they have 2 days that could see more cases come up. Of course same for us too.

Rom should give his answer to this nonsense on pitch.

That would be lovely. However is there a bigger game in the league than facing Liverpool? Not for me, others will say City, or Spurs, or Arsenal etc.

And well I will leave this one for our friend @Argo, say Argo, how does Rom do in big games?

Not looking forward to this one.  Chelsea are in full holiday pantomime right now - we seem to make drama out of perfectly good situations better than most.  Worry Liverpool smell blood and we'll have a mare.  Prove me wrong - one day it has to go our way again, right?

I have always heard that criticism leveled at Rom in regards to big games. There certainly have been some notable ones (especially for Belgium) where he has failed to shine. However 2 games I can think of this season where he was excellent were Spurs and Arsenal away. Neither of those were particularly small games. He was certainly disappointing at home to City but then most of the team and tactics was poor that day.

We do score more goals per game when Havertz starts, compared to when Lukaku starts, but I'm quite sure Liverpool would much rather they weren't facing Romelu, so he has to start for me.

We've just announced huge financial losses so perhaps a 4 weeks wages fine rather than being dropped would suffice as punishment ... and save us a cool £1.3M at the same time.

"Every little helps" !

We need to play both Rom and Kai, then get Werner or Ziyech playing with them. The team needs more invention as at times we struggle to create.

I'm hoping TT can mix things up a bit to make us more ruthless in attack.

Hard pass on Ziyech. I'd rather play Pulisic than him.

I don’t think Werner adds invention but he’s always caused Liverpool problems with his pace in behind them!

With Silva, Havertz and Werner back into the side it suddenly looks more promising to get a result from this game. Hopefully we won't get any injuries during the game so Tuchel gets to do all 3 tactical substitutes when needed not when must. With James and Chilwell out,  likely Kante will be ordered to stay on defensive side of the pitch following the ball for both Mane or Salah.

watching the city match - that is the third dodgy penalty they got when losing... i really dont think that this kind of stuff evens itself out over a season.

remember the Pulisic situation against Brighton. The VAR did not even check. Here the referee is coming to the rescue of Man City.

yeah its crazy - when the league is so tight to see such ludicrous officiating.. TT got reprimanded for his comments - klopp called the ref a cheat the least he should have gotten is a ban.. But i think despite all the progress and good work CFC has done the FA is biased and there is always a soft messaging against us.
