It is just idiocy from those managers when, we need a 6 to free Enzo, we don't use on who is capable. Is Trev the long term answer? Probably not but he is the best this squad has.
May 26, 20233 yr What ever happens to Colwill is our own doing. Period. Levi Colwill is a professional, and he will leave this club if he doesn't see an opportunity here. He showed at Huddersfield he's ready for a step up and he showed this season at Brighton that it was a mistake to let him go in the first place. He knows he's good enough and he won't make a decision that will f**k up his career. Make no mistake he will be among the best CBs in the league, and he knows it. City knows this. Liverpool knows this. Ignoring the fact we already messed up by not giving him a chance here and bought 2 players that directly compete for his LCB spot, if we don't have mutual trust in his ability as a footballer and don't give him the opportunity he's already more than deserved, it's not going to work. If I am Levi Colwill and that becomes the case, where I am promised one thing yet I see the absolute mess and zero planning going on, I'm f**king off. Especially when I can play for an established up and coming club like Brighton under the guidance of a manager like De Zerbi who on a weekly basis praises me. We need to be extremely careful here. This is where I feel Lampard taking Cech's previous role could be vital moving forward. From Colwill's interview, it seems like he has no connection to the club. Nobody keeping tabs on him saying "Mate, you're killing it. You are definitely going to be the future of this club". This is where Lampard excels and I hope he's provided a similar role. To City i could begrudgingly understand it but Brighton and Liverpool doesn't make much sense despite European football. Liverpool have had to pull out of the Bellingham deal due to lack of finances so even with Klopp and our current situation it's far from certain they will challenge again before us. Brighton ofcourse have had a great season but are likely to lose two key midfielders and may not see a position that high for a while. Only thing i could think off is maybe using them as an easier pathway to City but if he goes there on a 5 year deal it will probably be atleast 3 (or BHA getting relegated) until he's financially viable even for them.

Yes, agree with what you're saying. But by slagging off his club, he's showing a great immaturity and pissing off some fans at the same time. Not very clever. Be happy to be at Brighton, you can also hope not to come back to Chelsea, but to say loud and slag off Chelsea? Not very clever.

Think he played there quite successfully for some of his loan spell at Wigan ?

Yes Reece can absolutely play that role, but you listed the main problem he has not, the other is our beat right back outside of him is Trev.

City is a nailed on cert for medals and big wages every year, I don't begrudge him that so long as he allows us the big fee we are due.
May 26, 20233 yr I've just read on another forum we have the option of a year extension if he plays 15 games.

Colwill is also obviously well aware of how it's gone for Fofana and Cucurella this season. Last season they were both considered two of the very best defenders in the league. Now one of them have been booed multiple times by his own supporters and become a scapegoat and Fofana isn't looking half as good as he did at Leicester. Both Fofana & Cucu have taken singnificant hits to their reputations, Colwill probably fears the same happening to him.

June 1, 20233 yr £30m bid from Brighton rejected today, I expect them to come back with an improved offer. Pressure is on the club now, we either play him or sell him. Will be interesting to see if he asks to leave.

I think even without any external pressure he'll 'earn' his spot pretty quickly anyway. Although it is strange him having such a hard on for Brighton given he'd have spent the whole season on the bench if Webster never got injured.
June 1, 20233 yr 30M? They are having a laugh. Maybe a deal involving Caceido coming to us, other than that why do we even sell our best prospect to a club like Brighton ( no disrespect)
June 1, 20233 yr If we sell Colwill, which I would find ridiculous, we should at least get the same amount that we paid for Cucurella, if not more. But he will be played next season if he stays, no doubt about it.
June 1, 20233 yr I suppose it boils down to whether his social media represents his real feelings or whether he was taking the p*ss. If the former, things will end in tears. If the latter, you have to question his maturity.

Levi is going to be one of the best defenders in the world, as long as he keeps his head down and works hard of course. 70mill should be the bare minimum, or a straight swap for Caicedo I guess if he is worth 70mill, which I am unsure of.
June 1, 20233 yr If they want £90m for Caicedo they can pay £70m for Colwill to even get us to the negotiating table. Brighton starting to piss me off more each season. Want the world for their players then try to pick obvious talents for pennies. Gilmour was the only bargain we should be giving them.
June 1, 20233 yr I wonder who's leaked the bid... Brighton will have been encouraged by Colwill here when they make their move so early. If Colwill's told them he doesn't intend to extend here and will tell the club he wants to leave Brighton did the right thing making their first move early.

If Colwill's told them he doesn't intend to extend here and will tell the club he wants to leave Brighton did the right thing making their first move early. He's effectively got three years left on his contract. Even if he wants out (which like I said would be very strange he's got such a hard on to stay at Brighton given he was only given the trust he claims to want to repay so much because of Webster's injury) we hold all the cards. Brighton will have actually have in hindsight shot themselves in the foot with the Cucurella deal if they want to do business here, as I imagine we'd point to his fee citing the value of a good season at Brighton then add things like homegrown tax, growth potential etc.
June 1, 20233 yr Brighton just made a record signing for Joao Pedro at £30m. Given that Colwill still doesn't start over Webster I can't see Brighton coming back with an improved offer at all, which would make Colwill their record signing. Given last summer we tossed out any discussion of including him in a deal with Cucurella, now that he has established himself there is simply no way we entertain it. As far as FFP go, we already in a good standing without including Colwill. Close to be done. RLC: £15m Mount: £55m+ Kovacic: £30m+ Rumoured fees. Pulisic: £20m CHO: £10m Ziyech: £15m Gallagher: £40m Chalobah: £25m
June 1, 20233 yr This club eh ? Pay a fortune for Cucurrela, loan out a better player who gets pissed off with us and wants to leave. We are desperate for sales because of FFP and everyone knows it , no one is going to pay the going rate while we are holding a firesale of players

If the reports are anything to go by Pochettino will give him more chances than he got at Brighton last season.
