Barely .... his best recent rating was in the Wolves game, and there were six Brighton players whose rating was better than his in that.

Nothing here yet to say it was a mistake to sell him.

Are you saying that Gilmour getting a fan-generated rating of 6.8 out of 10 in a game that was lost 4-1 is some sort of evidence that we should regret selling him ?

Well it does show that for a percentage of fans he was the best Brighton player and that's arguably worth more in a heavy defeat. Having watched the game I would have to agree even though he only played 50 or 60 minutes.

De Zerbi has eased him into the team and obviously trusts him. Next season will be a big one for Gilmour in taking the next step. I have always said he was the best passer of the ball we had in our squad when he was sold and I still believe that.

Not arguing against you here but wasn't de Zerbi put into that position a bit though with having to play Caciedo at RB?

Thought the decision to prefer Gallagher over Gilmour for the two man midfield in Tuchel's system was weird then.

Possibly yes Whitewall. I also so think De Zerbi wanted to ease him in slowly with MacAllister moving on. I've said many times his size will always be an issue for many people but, for me, his creativity and the speed and quality of his passing will out-weigh that. Plus, he certainly doesn't fall short on work rate.

They are taking the piss thinking we are clown of a football club. Then again, they kind of have a point. We buy guys who score 8 goals in Ukraine for 100 million but sell 2 times POTY for 55-80. We pay Sterling 350k a week while we let Mount go because he wants a lot of money. Not sure how any of it makes sense.

I think we can all agree on that.

Hope Gilmour has a great career. We need Colwill as everyone else gets injured regularly.

I mean by all means keep trying. 

 

Tells you everything you need to know about how good a player Colwill is, and can become, that a club like Brighton are willing to smash their transfer record for him.

Credit to them for trying to rake advantage of our FFP issues.

Let’s just hope the club aren’t tempted by the money.

As much as I'd be f**king furious, selling an academy player for 40m is great for the academy. 

This notion that our academy has one purpose, create first team players for Chelsea, is just wrong. 

It's first purpose is to create professional footballers. It's second is to create Chelsea players. It's third is to make money. 

(But I'd still be f**king furious if we sell Colwill)

I’d like the club to still keep a hold of its identity amidst this new chapter and selling Colwill (on top of Mount, Gallagher, and Maatsen leaving) will indefinitely give the academy lads of the future no incentive to stay given we are so willingly able to sell our prized youth products. 
 

Colwill will likely reach James levels.

Key for Colwill ìs staying both fit and focused. If he does he will be at least as good as Reece imo.

injuries will determine how good Reece is rembered as being.

Romano usually gets his information through agents. They push info to him to get news out there in the open. So I suppose one can only speculate what Colwill's agent agenda is here but I hardly think its a good sign for us unfortunately.

He's effectively got three years left on his deal and we've made it clear he's not for sale.
