If he stays here he'll become a key player pretty quickly. I very highly doubt he'll be pining for Brighton when he's beaten his league appearance number he made there by February.

None of us would have thought Mount would be on his way to United this time last year.

Colwill will likely reach James levels. It will give a lot of incentive to buckle down and work. Because they will have seen a Lot of older players go on to big things in the professional game. That's all we can ask for.
June 6, 20233 yr God, this would be the worst thing out of everything that could happen under this ownership, the concerning thing is if we have genuinely told Brighton he is NOT for sale, why the f**k are they putting in another bid; the warning couldn’t have been that stern.
June 6, 20233 yr Many a club says a player is not for sale and a sale still happens. Brighton counting on us being desperate for cash perhaps?

It is basic math 2 x 60m (cucu's fee) + low ball bs offer premium + 30m = 150m They want 100m for Caicedo and I am a nice guy so I will give them that.
June 7, 20233 yr Promising young midfielders are a dime a dozen; promising centre-backs are as rare as hen's teeth.

Trying to test our resolve. They feel we still may be tempted. Villa did the same thing with Smith-Rowe, 2 summers ago. They kept trying to test Arsenal's resolve despite Arsenal insisting he was not for sell and went in with 2-3 bids until they eventually got the message.
June 7, 20233 yr Leipzig wanted £90m for Gvardiol last summer after one top flight season. Absolutely no reason we shouldn't want at least that offered to even get to the negotiating table. English premium and EPL experience on top as well.

I suppose, but with the Caicedo interest thrown into the mix with this one, push might come to shove (god, if only we hadn’t signed f**king Badiashile 🤦♂️ wasn’t even in the UCL squad and now he’s blocking Colwill). Nice to have strength in depth but not when you’ve got heigh ceiling potential superstars with their futures in the balance. Brighton would double their money in two seasons at present, easily get £60m from City for Colwill, club at that level can only buy to sell anyway, who are they kidding.

Badiashile's been our best defender this year, we should be more upset by the Koulibaly signing. Colwill/Badiashile Fofana/Chalobah gives you good options and depth for the next decade.

Not only has he been one of our better defenders - when he actually gets a start - omitting him from the CL squad was one of Potter's more mystifying decisions. Koulibaly in the squad ahead of him? Spare me.

Koulibaly in the squad ahead of him? Spare me. Badiashile is 22 years old, Levi Colwill is 20 years old. Both players are LCB’s, this is not ‘strength in depth’ that only work when one player is significantly older than the other and can settle for a squad role/vice versa. This was poor planning, like any position, Levi Colwill should have competitive, sure, but not of this profile. Kouliably has played on the right hand side his entire career, so not sure what your point is there, not bothered about decisions Potter has made either.. more concerned about what’s going on higher up. Man-City will pay Brighton £80m for Levi in 2-3 seasons time, if we are stupid enough to let him go.
June 7, 20233 yr I think Brighton are counting on reports of our need to raise money will get them Colwill at a cheap price. As is the Kai deal to real is off, RLC to Milan off, Kova to City gone quite, and United are happy to wait till the end of the window expecting us to drop Mounts price of 70mill.
June 7, 20233 yr Really hope we don't sell him. He looks like a very good player in the making, so I'd like to see him develop here and I think that selling off our academy because they bring in the most profit isn't good. Especially when other clubs are circling around us like hawks looking to swoop down on certain players. We'd still be paying the price this transfer window for last year's transfer mistakes. It would also go against Todd's pledge on the academy prospects when he was in the running for buying Chelsea.

June 7, 20233 yr Even City and Liverpool have proven over the last few years that you are only as good as your depth in defence. Liverpool have only been competitive so long as they have had three first-choice CBs fit and available, likewise City domestically and in Europe.
June 7, 20233 yr Nah keeping this kid is something we have to do. I will be absolutely furious with the board if they let him go. To Brighton of all teams that constantly get the last laugh with our transfers.
June 7, 20233 yr 4 hours ago, bisright1 said: And man city managed to make 4 centre backs first teamers this season, I think there's more than enough room for both. It’s Man-City tbf. In the state we’re in, it’s a concern.. and just to add, Badiashile has been an astute signing.. don’t wanna seem like I’m totally turning a blind eye, but if his presence in the squad is a factor in the boards decision to sell Colwill then f**k me. Colwill has the higher ceiling and as a homegrown player to boot (ability aside) his real value is astronomical.
June 7, 20233 yr Need to keep him and give him a go in the first team, otherwise it could be another Salah & KDB story. If we sell him now, almost a guarantee we will get a replacement that's worse off. If Brighton is willing to break record for him, imagine his value in 3-5 years time.
