Title is gone, time to rest those who need it, have the big players around for Spurs and then a further rest ahead of the FA cup to recover.

Do you actually prioritise cups over top 4 battle? If Arsenal win their postponed games they are just two points behind us. It would be a massive gamble.

Its a must win game. Other clubs have a bunch of games in hand & we aren't playing great either. Desperately need a win to get some confidence back.

Come on Chelsea!! Just win this one emphatically and keep the doubters quiet… if only till the next one. Is it too much to ask?

What are you smoking? This is a must win game and the most important game right now.

If Spuds win all their games in hand up to this point they are 2 points ahead so the battle for Top 4 is on, as I type the Pikeys are giving it their all to equalize so can’t forget about them & the Arse either, every prem game is just as important as the last & next - 3 points is & should be the target every match for a club like Chelsea ! Brighton are the 1-1 kings and we’ve been on the receiving end of their late equalizers this season and on NYD 2019 which was the last live CFC game I attended. Play the best available players every game and then at 38 games you’ve only yourself to blame or congratulate.

Assuming Alonso starts he could be given a tough time against Lamptey's pace. Cucurella has also impressed when I have watched Brighton recently. I think this will be a tricky game, but we ought to create a few chances against their makeshift defense without Dunk. Would be nice to think our forwards could take a few chances when they come their way. This might be a good game to start with Havertz/Werner/Mount. They have tall central defenders but are not as mobile.

Iirc we came up with the perfect solution on another thread. Sarr at left back, Alonso as striker, Lukaku out.

Every game is important now. We can't afford to slack off.

When we were still trying for the title every league game was a cup final. The city result killed off our title chances, we are not pulling back 13 points on them.

Now we are aiming for top 4, and we don't have to win every game to achieve that. We have played more games than anyone else and the players are in overload.

For TT to keep his job in don't think top 4 is enough. He will need success in cups too, probably at least the club world cup and league cup too.

This lineup is the biggest wind up I've ever read on this forum. How can you have the audacity for anyone to take you serious is beyond me.

We need to finish in the top 4 and fight for all the cups. Not piss about with some kneejerk debut line up

Wind your neck in fella, at least the above posters were respectful in disagreeing with my opinion.

There should be no need for anyone to be deliberately insulting.

Just re-read so I could sanity check....

I called your line up either satire or a wind up and someone else questioned what you were smoking...

one of us apparently insulting and the other, respectful..

This begs the question, what are you smoking?

Konakai Blue comment, to me at least, is a funnier way of calling my suggested line up crazy. A fair point of view as it would in theory weaken us for this game in the hope it strengthens us for the longer term.

Your post may have intended to come across the same way, and I would have taken it as such had you said something like "you must be on the wind up axman, I cannot take your line up seriously, we need to win this game and get our top 4 bid back underway and that line up won't cut it"

However you added emphasis on your point by calling the lineup I put forward "the biggest windup" you had ever seen on this forum.

Come on we both know there have been legitimate trolls that have come on here and said far more controversial things trying to aggravate members.

Finally you accused me of having audacity in my post, "how can you have the audacity for anyone to take you seriously is beyond me".

Well for one people can take me how they chose. @Munkworththinks I am an idiot, fair enough.

So posters can chose to take my post as it was meant, a shift to a back 4, 2 youngsters who, in my view, played well at Brentford and Chesterfield, respectively, at full back. Sarr staying in who I think has done well, and the hope it refreshes us for Spurs while the pace we have up front catches Brighton out.

Or they can take it as they think I am nuts for having that opinion. Fine by me either way.

However at no point have I had any audacity about it.

Hopefully that makes sense mate.

I feel the safe bet is on a score draw and late Brighton equalizer. They are masters of it.

Understood. All good fella.

So the standard scenario where we score in the first half, miss a bunch of chances to wrap the game up, and then concede a sloppy late equalizer 😉

Agreed, we need to find some sort of understanding between the front players, most of the squad play 1 game a week with the exception of maybe Rudiger and Mount, the rest are constantly being rotated... We need to find the right balance within the squad and stick with a set 11 and rotate when necessary...no more looking to keep big names happy and give them game time if the can't find a pass to break the lines or keep making poor decisions when in the final third...

Exactly, the Chelsea special 🙂

Every professional team just trys to win the next game or if it is half time win the second half. Maybe the manager can think about the bigger picture but this is professional football. We are expected to perform like a good car, when you hop in and turn it on you want it to go like in the ad.

Last game was sh*** and there have been plenty to moan about, just like liver puddle had last season. Don't matter just have to perform this game.

Brighton are no mugs, although neither do they have any forwards.

I personally think there have been some positives from recent events specifically how  well Sarr is playing and the the improvement in Kepa's good to bad ratio.

We are still a sausage short of a full breakfast as team and I don't just mean the forwards its really the ageing backline and now the lack of wing backs. If James and Chiller had been available we'd have created a lot more wide threats to counter Citeh's extra midfielder. But lets be honest Citeh have an excellent defence, its no shame really not creating too much.

We are a bit stuffed at the moment for wing backs, alonso and dave can't play every game there and if we use them every game they will run out of motor and additionally get injured.

So I think Kennedy is going to be playing sooner rather than later, but maybe this is a game too early.

Kepa

Mount Toni, Silva, Sarr CHO

Jorginho RLC

Havertz Lukaku Werner

So taking a big risk with the wing back suggestions and I'd not be selecting RLC if I did think we simply have to rotate Kante and Kova.
