They were not though; the formation and style is just all wrong. Sterling is running at the opposition because England is playing to his strengths; he passes, spins and gets the five & go. With us; when he passes and makes the blind run, the ball isn’t getting passed back. Rather it’s getting move inwards, and sideways.

Iran got in a couple of times, so I can imagine what a decent side will do to that England defence.

Only Iran yet they manged to open up England in the defensive transition rather easily.
