World Cup Qatar 22

Featured Replies

Never ever have I been less excited about a World Cup. Being in Qatar certainly is a part of it but I think it’s more the time of year. Usually the season ends with all the finals, squads get together, and no football for a few weeks and the whole thing builds up.

This time I’m sort of feed up of football, and that’s just not our form but it’s been constant since the start of the season.

maybe I’ll get into it but it will probably in the later stages. I’ll probably want to watch the South American teams as I seen loads of the European nations this last year or so and there has been nothing special.

At ALL previous World Cups I can remember since '66, I looked forward to them for months, got excited by the qualification, draw (even if England hadn't qualified), squad announcements and then planning the times, TV watching parties etc etc.  This Year - NONE OF THAT. I couldn't be less interested. I don't know who we are playing (except Wales) when or at what time.  I think this may have something to do with age, but probably has more to do with the Venue, time of year and the fact that I do not rate Southgate, his tactics or his selections and for a long while England Internationals have bored me senseless.

I am however, looking forward to seeing new emerging players from South America, Africa and Europe (shame we haven't really got any) and theoretically deciding which ones I would love to see at Chelsea.

For what it's worth - after looking at the squads announced, I think the winner will come from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

With you in that Coombsie. Was driving to Inverness today and had radio on and was genuinely surprised when I heard it kicked off tonorrow.

All I care about is that none of our players get injured, England fans win the throwing plastic chairs trophy, Ziyech has a blinder so we can sell him for two bob and a biscuit  and Baba Rahman shines so we can chuckle as someone says we should bring him back.

It's going to be unusual, no doubt. I'm not excited at all because of many familiar reasons but still it's the World Cup. Also I'm pretty short of time right now so I don't think I'll be following it closely.

What I'm expecting is lots of tight games and surprising results in the group stage. And a european team (possibly Spain) to win the whole thing.

Just as many fans hate Liverpool FC because of their fans , I suddenly hated England during the Euros in Sweden after seeing that footage of England fans taking turns to kick a young unconscious Swedish boy in the head.

anyway, I could never get as excited by England as I do about Chelses., I've got more into it lately , even if they are so timid sometimes instead of going for it.. Hmmm....! reminds of something....

We're bound to be the club most affected by injuries after it all ends, just know it. Hope Qatar get thrashed today  even.If they have bribed the Ecuadorian team. 😁😁

Bit of a brown envelope VAR decision there. Must be for the first ball when the keeper was off his line?

Why? Valencia isn’t even involved in the play at that point

It’s a joke

That’s a red

Is that 'double jeopoardy' rule still in place (assuming it isn't just something I made up)? Where you can't give both a red card for preventing a goalscoring opportunity and a penalty?

I’m not sure but the Qatar goalkeeper didn’t seem to be trying to play the ball so that would be a red

the double jeopardy is maybe for goal scoring opportunities where you do try to play the ball

That Ecuador support is brilliant.

how come South American countries take  tons of support . Didn't Colombia have a load in Russia ?

can't see England anywhere near that, same as in Russia couldn't sell the allocstion.

this game is ok tb fair
