Wouldn't of called that system elite when it worked well in Europe but up and down in the Premier League. We relied heavily on James and Chilwell in creativity along with Kante at the peak of his powers. Not to mention Rudiger being a monster.

And I would still say the same thing now, sign a player if they're the right fit else we're making the problem even worse, stylistic fits only. On paper Auba and Sterling solved all out goal problems and the end result was our worst scoring season for a century.

Yeah it makes it hard to trust the people in charge to get it right and not just load us with another 1 or 2 players that just don't work.

January is getting nearer.  How many players are we buying this time?  Logic says we need an experience striker with Toney being the best solution.  But the powers that be will probably pick out more youngsters.  The pessimist in me sees us going for the latest shiny toy in Santiago Gimenez or Victor Boniface while Toney rips it up for Arsenal.

If we're legitimately trying to sign him I hope we're getting a move on to sign him from the 1st January, given he can't play until 15th anyway would be good to give him a couple of weeks with the rest of the players.

Think we would pose too much of a risk for Toney. Arsenal a much more sure thing.

It's sounds like another case of "Lets slap £100m price tag on him - you know Chelsea will pay it".

Wouldn't want to pay a penny more than £70m for him and would rather our scouts found an alternative who was more value for money.

I wouldn't disagree in terms of price but there is such a shortage of top strikers around at the moment, it's quite odd how few of them there are.

In terms of top strikers who have actually proven they can do it in the EPL there is only Ivan Toney and Callum Wilson who might possibly be available. Toney has shown he can lead the line as a lone striker. We desperately need him.

If we want to cement ourselves as a team that competes for mid table, yes. The guy has had a decent start to the season, but that is all it is.
