And with our injury record we need strength in depth. Toney is EPL proven. A monster physical presence. Good in the air and knows how to finish. Arsenal bound I reckon.
October 22, 20232 yr Given the gambling addiction and what we also know about Tonali and Zaniolo, Toney would have had to undergo rehabilitation and agree to a close follow up for me to be an option. As a player, he’d be great, but I’d worry about his gambling habits if he can’t beat it.
October 24, 20232 yr Ivan Toney is only medium quality, we need better, cant see him scoring a significant number of goals for us. its a no from me, i think he will be back in the Championship before us.😁
October 24, 20232 yr Ivan Toney is only medium quality... perhaps that's why we should give him a go... how many "great" strikers have come to the Bridge and failed?

I'm indifferent about the Toney signing, but i agree with the highlighted but. Never want to see us sign a 'big name' striker again.
October 25, 20232 yr Christ, he's out of football for a few months and people have forgotten how good he actually is. Realistically who is better than Toney that we could get? Osimhen is the only name I can think of. Toney may not be the best finisher in the world but he's certainly very good and the way he would be able to bring players like Mudryk, Palmer and Nkunku into the game would be a real difference maker for us.
October 25, 20232 yr There is still a lot to be seen from Jackson, Broja, and Nkunku to make an indefinite decision. I think the club are closely monitoring Osimhen. With a year left and refusing to re-sign he could be available for a snip.

He's had just 1 top draw season, hasn't played for months due to a ban, has never played for a top club, is a gambling addict, is dumb enough to have been filmed slagging off his own club, and his own club have been hawking him around to prospective buyers. Can't see any red flags here.

October 27, 20232 yr Ivan Toney is very good and he can be a perfect part of our st rotation but he won't be cheap and I am not sure you want to sign an expensive plan B st. If we want to sign a st, we should either get Oshimen or a demba ba/a remy Edited October 27, 20232 yr by Bob stark
October 28, 20232 yr https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-arsenal-ivan-toney-future-31291883 Go get him Poch. I don't buy this Osimhen is better than Toney opinion. He is playing in a far inferior league. No guarantees at all that he could deliver in the EPL.
October 28, 20232 yr So when Ivan Toney arrives in January, who plays alongside him? Here he is. A big strong target man. Tattoos and muscles. Banging opponents out of the way. Winning headers. Kicking the snot out of defenders. Ohhhh, makes you a bit damp around the under carriage doesn't it? Vote Ivan Toney. You know it makes sense.

Personal opinion, he votes to go to Arsenal.

October 29, 20232 yr Well, if there is one thing for certain we need a CF, one that can score goals anyway. Whether Toney is the answer or not the proof is in the pudding. To get a striker we will have to let a couple of players go for sure...but at least one thing for certain, the best thing Todd did in the summer was to fleeces Arsenal and Utd. Havertz and Mount have been atrocious, especially Mount. I think I was reading a rumour that a swap for Tammy and Lukaku was being spread...is Tammy though any better than what we currently have? Maybe Toney is an upgrade, although I doubt he's the answer.

October 29, 20232 yr You might all think I'm bonkers for this but I don't want us to sign a striker, would still rather stick it out with the current personnel we've got. BUT if we did happen to go in for one, I would rather it be this guy than Osimhen, please stay away from that one.

I remember @Argo was against us signing any striker after the CL win. You still feel that way too mate?

I think getting Lukaku in that situation was just a disaster. As for right now, well we already have 3 forwards as is. I feel like if we get another striker we are just shelving and writing off at least one or two of them. I still believe the likes of Jackson and Broja have potential and will get better over time. And Nkunku still has a lot to prove when he comes back. I'll be gutted if we go out and splash stupid money on a Serie A forward that's got Chelsea flop written all over him.

Well yes, we literally had an elite system that went toe to toe with the best in the business and we threw it all away to accommodate Romelu Lukaku. That transfer caused a massive snowball effect. And I would still say the same thing now, sign a player if they're the right fit else we're making the problem even worse, stylistic fits only. On paper Auba and Sterling solved all out goal problems and the end result was our worst scoring season for a century.
