June 3, 20233 yr This has been overlooked with all the bollox that has been going on. Can't wait for an official unveiling and seeing this guy in a Chelsea shirt.

June 4, 20233 yr Think there’s more to this ‘Bundesliga tax’ thing than just the league makes average players look good. You’ve got to first look at the recruitment/scouting but most importantly the environment and structure of the team signing them. It’s no coincidence that Gundogan, Sane, De Bruyne, and Haaland have flourished at City. I like the look of Nkunku he looks like a talented player but he needs more than that to succeed here.

What else does he need to succeed here?

Firstly he needs to be played his best position in a system that suits him, the for his team mates to create opportunities for him to score as well as movement and runs to allow him to create opportunities for them. All these things seem to be missing in this current team. I feel even prime Hazard would struggle in this team. Pochettino has a difficult job extracting the talent out of this group, but I’m optimistic he can do it.
June 4, 20233 yr A more technical player and better finisher than Werner, but still with plenty of speed. I think he will do well, at many said Pochettino needs to find the best position for him.
June 5, 20233 yr As much as recent signings, somewhat going back to Werner, Kai along with all the Clearlake business dampens enthusiasm as so few players actually improve at Chelsea, it is hard to not be excited by Nkunku. The goals montage is wonderful - either foot, one time shots, dribbling goals, chips, power shots, freekicks, penalties - looks really complete, and the video doesn't even show his setup play! Assume he'll be signed July 1, and can't wait!
June 5, 20233 yr Author He has all the attributes to do well in the PL. He's far more technical than Werner which is a big plus too.

June 6, 20233 yr Still not announced by the club yet though is it? Strange considering Boehly hasn't been able to keep his mouth shut up until this point.

On paper I could get excited about a front three of Sterling (or Mudryk) nkunku and yes havertz. Havertz the nominal no 9 but often found wide right dragging defenders away and making space for Nkunku.

What we need, and have needed for a few years now, is an actual centre forward who plays in the middle of the pitch, preferably all the time in the opposition box. We havent had a focal point player for years, and our attack has been awful mostly. I just want us to go away from these "false 9" type players. Oh and also not Lukaku, obviously.
June 6, 20233 yr His pressing game will need to be fine tuned if he wants to operate as a midfielder. He can get away with it at the Bundesliga, not sure about the Prem.

That Marcus Thuram fella we were linked with before could possibly do it. I have mentioned Mitrovic before as well. Might not be the best player around but plays the role required and would allow all the bright young playerrs to work off of him.

I've wanted mitrovic since last summer, aggressive, great first touch, scores goals (though maybe not enough?). Angry bastard too, we don't have any of them.
