Of them 3 you name Valverde is one I would stay well away from, just doesn't look like he would work on the prem.

But the other 2 we should definitely try for if there's even a hint they could be available .

I agree that the others fit the deeper lying position we are trying to fill.

We're 10% away from having Caicedo and then our midfield will be sorted for years to come.

There's no point going back now. Just bite the bullet, take the short term banter but have a player that improves us immensely.

Looking at all the footage I could find on Caciedo I don't think I've ever seen a player with his ability to win the ball back cleanly from seemingly unwinnable position's, it's almost like he's completely double jointed at every joint! Add a excellent passer and undoubtedly skillful player and he's definitely worth paying the money because imo he's better than Rice in all areas apart from his shooting on target which Caciedo could definitely improve upon.

I'm not on board with this theory that we'll get him for less than Brighton want because we blew £25 million on Sanchez,and Brighton know full well if Chelsea seriously want Caciedo then Chelsea will have to pay their valuation,there's no great mystery or underhand business going on its just business and Brighton are particularly good at it.

It's a hell of a lot of money for one player,but this one is special and going by some of the players purchased for silly money before in comparison Caciedo is a snip,call it what you like but Chelsea will be a better team for years to come if Caciedo becomes a Chelsea player.

I looked at his stats and you're correct on paper he really doesn't stand out from the crowd significantly, it's only when you see him play on the pitch it becomes apparent he's a bit special,the potential this player has is limitless if he stays fit and thus far he's managed to avoid the real serious injuries likely to dull his future performance.

Given we’re 10% away from their asking price, I would pay the £100m and then tell the recruitment team and board that we are never having anything to do with Brighton for a LONG time. We won’t buy their players and we won’t sell/loan them.

Last year they get a package of 62mill for Cucurella, this year a package of 100mill for Caicedo.

After that they will go for 150mill for Ferguson.

At this point, we should pay the 100M and move on. As others have said, we’re so close and if he is really deemed as the player we need, with alternates being considerably limited in quality, then do it. Also the amount we spend on young Brazilians is exceeding this. I doubt the 100M will be the problem; mroe the actual terms  I’m sure the lizard wants it in a single payment delivered in briefcases  

Id also agree with above - wouldn’t deal with Brighton on loans, sales, purchases.

I think the Caicedo deal is done. Sanchez sold to us, Brighton landing Kudos. 

Something dodgy is happening, likely around the sell on fee %

If we don't land Caicedo after those two deals happening, I'd be absolutely shocked.

Apparently deal is done - £95m plus £10m in add ons. Announcement will be made Monday.

We wait to see if it's true.

Also Caicedo was absent from the Brighton pre season kit photos this weekend.
