August 1, 20232 yr Maybe we will look to buy Caicedo and Sanchez together, and the Sanchez price will be undisclosed and that way everyone wins in their own eyes and the media can't put a world record transfer price narrative on the Caicedo deal.
August 1, 20232 yr Author So here is the latest theory going around about the linking of the Caicedo and Sanchez deals, including a piece of news I have not heard about until today. Brighton will owe 20% of whatever fee they recieve for Moises Caicedo to his former club. That, plus the prices both Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham went for, is why they have stuck to their 100mill valuation, as at 100mill they would get to keep 80mill, whereas at 80mill they would get to keep 64mill. Now where Sanchez fits in to this is he was one of a number of options Pochettino would be happy with as a competitor to Kepa. At first Pochettino wanted to run the rule over our keeper options before making a call over whether to make a signing or not. Originally we had looked at "elite" keepers but walked away at their prices, added to Caicedo is Pochettino main, must have, signing. Having seen our other keepers Pochettino has now decided he wants another keeper, and he is happy for it to be Sanchez, following a high recommendation from Ben Roberts. He is even more enthusiastic about the idea as us and Brighton are said to be exploring a deal where we follow the "extra money on Jorginho so Sarri is free" way. Overpay for Sanchez, so Brighton get to keep that money and share less with Caicedos former side. As it happened with Jorgi and Sarri it could very much happen here, saving us face while Brighton get their money and shift a player who has fallen out with their manager. Guess we see soon as the Sanchez deal is said to be moving along quickly.

August 2, 20232 yr If I were a Brighton fan, I'd be happy with the stand the club is taking. They need to get the most out of their prized asset, especially with the long contract and no get out clause. We will be suckers if we pay 100M+ for him, there has to be a contingency plan, even if we come back for him next season. It's a worry when we are being linked with the likes of Tyler Adams, probably just lazy rumour, but not the type of player we want to be a starter. We signed a 19 year old for 23M and on loan at our feeder club, is he good enough to come back and play at PL? He's already been tested in the French league, at least a loan should be at a PL club.

Given all they have received is loan enquiries so far for Sanchez, and that him and their gaffe fell out big time, they are desperate to get shot of him and know his value is not high.
August 2, 20232 yr The latest nonsense doing the rounds is that an unnamed Premier League club have matched Chelsea's rejected bid for Caicedo. https://talksport.com/football/1519764/chelsea-usurped-moises-caicedo-unnamed-premier-league-club-bid/

August 2, 20232 yr Yes, well, it also includes the Tyler Adams rumour that's been doing the rounds. FFS.

August 2, 20232 yr Let's pretend this is true, I can't imagine Liverpool would end up bidding more than we would and absolutely no chance they get near the £100m Brighton are apparently sticking to as their valuation
August 2, 20232 yr "Unnamed clubs", "don't know if it's real" Just an absolute circus over at Brighton right now.
