Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

Zakaria is more of a #8 and Onana a pure DM.

Zakaria played 166 games as a DM and 58 as a central midfielder

I am not so convinced about Onana, seems like an inferior option to me to Caicedo in that age range. Would rather go for Lavia then who is 2 years younger, always thought he was a very good player

We're not interested in Lavia it's just a ruse to spook Brighton. Just pay the money and get the player. We're still going to sell CHO, Ziyech and Lukaku to cover any additional funds.

Get him in the team and move on.

Aye that 4mill for Cal and loan fee from Juve is going to really help us there...

I get the feeling we are going to cave to brighton's demands once more and give them 100m. Really wish we wouldn;t.

We did with Enzo, only the payment plan was what we won in the negotiations.

I can see why Brighton believe they can get an Enzo fee from us for Moises.

Indeed.  Yes, he does. Brighton also have to live with it too. How disgruntled an employee will he be?  How much harmony will be in the Brighton dressing room?

IF players want to leave, clubs should let them go.  Chelsea will always let players go [ex.1. See Mason Mount].

Brighton are being unreasonable imho and so rather than walk away I would do the opposite and just start fcuking with that club big time.  Put in some bids for some of their other players, etc.

I don't think it can be claimed that they are being unreasonable, yet.

Brighton will, presumably, have known for some time that Caicedo would prefer to leave this summer if the right offer came along. They would therefore have decided if they need to buy a replacement should he go, and must be sitting on a 'just in case' plan . They therefore have no need, nor any incentive, to accept an offer now. Sit tight and see how high Chelsea will go is their best move. As long as their backup plan is in place they can drag this out to the last day, and probably will.

Indeed, from Brighton's point of view, they should drag it out. Who knows how desperate Chelsea might become? It could even be that another club is using Chelsea as a stalking horse, and will make a move later and so bid the price up even further. Brighton have a good hand and they will play it.

Is this just a weekly re-tweet or whatever it is called. Romano has been telling us all to calm down, calm down, for the last three weeks.  Fking Brighton. Used to like them as well.

Now i hope de Zerbi gets a big job and they end up with another Hughton or Mullery in charge.....or even the return of the prodigal son and no more scoring goals :bluescalf:

What's your opinion on Caicedo footballing wise?

I like him a lot; good defensively, can retain possession and manipulate the ball to give himself passing options. Once he has the options he usually chooses the right one and executes it at good pace. Nothing bugs me more than an under paced pass which, by taking too long to reach its target, robs the move of momentum.

Adding Caicedo, Kudus and Gabri to the moves we've already made would represent an excellent incoming window in my opinion.

Thanks, similar to my own assessment. I would also like to get Kudus. He's versatile and looks a proper talent. Not sure if Veiga's necessary anymore though after those two. We'd have Nkunku, Carney and Kudus for the AMC spot and Enzo, Caicedo, Conor and Casadei/Santos for the CM spots. If we decide to get another CM I'd rather go for somebody a bit more defensive than Veiga. A Lavia, Kone, Thuram type of player (not talking about them specifically just profile).

Well, I think Brighton have known for some time that Moises Caicedo wants to leave.  WANTS to leave, is more than a preference. He has agreed personal terms with Chelsea after all.  Brighton have known since the Arsenal bid on Caicedo in January. The player wants to leave. The replacement 'just in case' plan is in reality an inevitability plan.

Who has the upper hand in this? 3 sides to this deal. 2 clubs and one player. Chelsea and the player are in agreement on one side and Brighton is on the other side.  In the final analysis that should give Chelsea the upper hand. But then again it is Todd Chelsea. Ho-Ho-ho.

Move on, Brighton are taking us for mugs, not because they want £100 million but because they know we overpaid in the past so we will bully Chelsea into paying what we want them to pay.

We are two time UCL winners and we won everything over the last 25 years and we will continue to do so with or without this one player!!!

Am sure that will be instantly rejected by Brighton also.

We’re dealing with Bloom. Young, wealthy, and a poker player (not just in transfers). They’re also brimming with confidence from a few years of success and to the credit of their club, standing firm. Bloom likely has to feel he wins every deal being a sporting gambler.

Stay patient, this needs more involvement from Caicedo and team to make it happen.

FWIW, at the game Wednesday, when Caicedo came on he didn’t break sweat. Took little to no risks, and honestly gave me the impression of someone that didn’t really want to be there. Funny thing, based on those 30 mins, he looked nowhere near a 100M footballer (clearly a larger sample size determines this).

Come on Tony, meet somewhere in the middle.

Th laughable thing is Sky's insistence in dramatically announcing that updates are coming up after the break regarding the in demand Caceido.  In demand? Seriously?  In demand implies that numerous people are interested. We are the only bu88ers hoping any interest at all.

Where is this bidding war? Only our lot could cave and pay the full monty when we're the only ones involved.

"OH Mr. Bloom, please sir, can you lower your asking price for me"

Tb: "Whhhhaaaaaatttt!"

Mc: "I said pwease sir, can I have some more, I mean pwease lower my fee"

Don't want to hand in the request and lose that loyalty bonus....
