no but if de zerbi was confident he would be staying my guess is he would be in midfield and on earlier

He probably is expecting we cave to Brightons demands.

There must be a reason why so many people are excited about Santos but, I still have not seen anything from him which really excites me. I accept that this must mean I just haven't seen enough yet, but, for now, I can't say that I'm excited about the prospect of his starting games for us. As for Cesare, I was not convinced by what I saw in the PL2 games i attended before he went on loan. The upshot is that, rightly or wrongly, I don't believe we will see major improvement if there is a heavy reliance on those two in the early part of the season.

Hard to disagree. In regards to Andrey Santos I believe you should switch it around.
- I'm yet to see any huge red flags or major reasons that would signal he definately needs a loan move.

He's a pivot. They're not really meant to excite; but to create stability. Besides, he's young - just moved from Brazil. It's pre-season.

I'd keep him around and let him have a slow integration to the PL. A loan with loads of gametime could be good - but so could being at the club.

With Cesare Casadei I think many are somewhat biased due to his amazing display in the u20 WC. No doubt he's a huge talent. There's ups and downs to his game still.

Not to sure about this one. Wouldn't mind keeping him if we lack options in midfield. Could be interesting with a loan to a PL/Serie A club and letting him play week in - week out.

If a loan does happen Id be reluctant to send casadei to a serie A side.  They violate his ears with their italia b.s and before you know it we have a player refusing to return and we sell at a lossto said italian team 😄

Do some spying, find out who's on Brighton's radar to replace Caicedo, sign that guy and we basically fast forward 3 years and save loads of money.

Andrey Santos 😅

When we offer  £80m it will not be enough and so on and on etc until it reaches £100m...on final day.

Walk away now

Who says £100m will be enough for you to get him?

Negotiating with Brighton works like this: there's no demands. There's no "if you pay £100m, you'll get him". You make bids, Tony shakes his head until he hears a fee that he agrees with. If you don't have a defensive midfielder at deadline day and go into "negotiations" with Bloom, it is going to get VERY expensive.

You've taken my use of the word 'excite' too literally. I mean it as in its colloquial 'football' sense. Erin Cuthbert putting in a block for CFCW is 'exciting' (she's brilliant at it.), Reece tidying up a dangerous situation and rolling the ball to his keeper is 'exciting'.

I base my opinion on Andrey mainly on his international games for Brazil since it was announced that he was joining Chelsea. Exciting stats in those games but not exciting displays. Not yet to my eyes anyway.

I only saw highlights of him from Brazil and from our previous two Pre Season friendlies before this game, so I don't know him too well, but my verdict is, that while he looks a bit raw (especially in those highlights from Brazil) I like his profile as a player. What I see is a player who's still a bit sloppy at times, but has very good technical and physical foundations. He's clean technically (just seems a bit unfocussed at times), pretty quick for a midfielder and reasonably strong for his size, with a low centre of gravity, good agility and balance (not easy to knock of the ball). I also really liked his short passing between the lines in the Newcastle game. Very quick, accurate and incisive.

Think there could be more to this than just the £100m valuation and a play for Colwill.  Its also rumoured both teams want Kudus from A**x.  There maybe some annoyance from Brighton with us courting their future acquisitions and given we've taken some of their scouting staff this might be more of a f u to Chelsea.  I'm pretty sure the deal would have been done for around £70-80m with any other club.

Honestly, the best alternative imo is Lucas Gourna at Salzburg given the similarity in profile.  He's maybe a step or two back in development and he is only 19 which will inevitably piss off some fans about wanting experience.

I'd be ok with including Cucu in the deal but I think they have a better left back now, and they must know it.

My grandmum would be a better leftback than cucurella.

I say we move on and draw a line under it now!

Yes, it is madness to pay some 100 mill on him. We have done that quite enough: paying huge amounts of money on players not worth it (Cucurella, Mudryk etc.)

There is not a fixed deadline but there might come a time soon when Chelsea have an eventual realisation that it may not be possible.   The clubs are very far apart with their valuation of the player.

Chelsea remain interested and Caicedo has already agreed personal terms with the club, but the club are also pursuing other options.

80 million quid for a player they bought for 5 million quid is more than fair imho.  80 million gives them more than enough money to buy a replacement and enjoy a little fruity cash bonus.

Is there any hope with Barella or does the player seriously still not want to leave Italy?

Forgot. Newcastle tested the waters and Inter basically said it would be 100m, hence why they moved to Tonali.
