July 27, 20232 yr Throw another 20+ in the mix for Kane, he’s as good a midfielder as I’ve seen, and he could morph into a lampard esque player, you know you’ll get 20-30 goals…….problem solved

July 27, 20232 yr The ship may have sailed with Lavia but I would 100% back the move to drop this Caidedo interest and end up signing Lavia and Kudus for less than what just Caicedo would cost.
July 27, 20232 yr We have to move on now, embarrassing if we get another bid rejected. Its plain and simple Brighton have pulled our pants down on Cucurella, Potter and potentially some of their board members we sniped. They think we're mugs, how is it we can scout players like Jackson and sign them for £30m but can't do that for a DM. There are plenty of quality DMs, CMs who can play there and other hidden gems in world football. Time to move on
July 27, 20232 yr Trying to look at it as objectively as possible, we paid more than 100m for Enzo, we paid loads for Mudryk who has played in a much weaker league than Caicedo. I don't really know if the guy us worth 100m, but I can see why Brighton would expect to get close to that from us. They paid peanuts for the guy, but it's sort of beside the point -- they took a punt on him, he's proven an amazing signing, they set the price. If we're genuinely not willing to go above 80m then we need to pull out and look elsewhere. Based on last summer, I think we'll offer 90m plus achievable 10m in add-ons eventually. July 27, 20232 yr Tell them straight swap for Colwill, he’s got to be worth, Brightons crazy inflated fee for Caceido. or move the f**k on, get Amrabat, and that Striker Yoonited are pining for?
July 27, 20232 yr I’m in the move on camp now. The more money we spend the higher the expectation on the lad. It’s not fair on him at this point.
July 27, 20232 yr Amrabat the obvious choice now. Onana cheaper but not by much, and not quite as good. Lavia likely a bidding war with the scousers. Tchouameni - could it be done? He's a far superior player to Caicedo right now but not exactly the same profile. Would he fit in our midfield, and more importantly, would RM consider letting him go? Manu Kone, quality player, Knee injury right now will miss the start of the season so not ideal. Other options: Zubimendi (Real Soc), Haidara ( Rbl), cheaper but I haven't seen enough of them to say if they're worth it. To put it short, if Caicedo isn't willing to at least put in a transfer request then this is done, because Brighton's demands and stance are ridiculous.

July 27, 20232 yr Rice has 5 times more PL experience and is English. Being within 20% of Rice's price is more than enough, especially since Caicedos signing of a new deal was conditional on him leaving in the summer.
July 27, 20232 yr Author If we have offered 80mill and they have turned it down serious move to f on. It is way too much money already. What are we paying these big executives and their people for if all they can do is come up with a list of 1?
July 27, 20232 yr Author Apparently Ornstein has said Brighton hope to keep Caicedo and only a bit north of 100mill will get them to change their position. So unless Moises goes full on Lukaku we need to stop messing about with this and find Pochettino an affordable good CDM to partner Enzo. And if we cannot find one then these higher ups need sacking.
July 27, 20232 yr If we’re £20m apart, that’s quite significant. I struggle to see how we don’t move on. That said, if he’s that good then finding a replacement will be tricky. Im yet to see a Brighton player that looks good outside of Brighton - they’ve all pretty much failed so I think I would back the club if they decided to move onto other targets.

If Pocjh is teh manager that we hope for and that he is shaping up for, there is no reason why he can't take this guy and make him fantastic for us. It still gives us options for other purchases as well.

Our first offer was 60mill, they price him at over 100mill. We have already come up 20mill and they have not budged. That shows they don't want to sell unless we go full on like we for Enzo. I don't think Enzo was worth what we paid, neither do I think Caicdeo is. However if we are determined to get him then stop messing around and get it done, or move on.

If we end up paying what they want, it will be a major loss of face and will show us up to be mugs thus inviting ridiculous prices for everyone. Regardless of his current stats, two seasons ago nobody would have heard of him. How do we know that Pochettino couldn't get an alternative to the level that Caceido is now be perceived as being at.
July 27, 20232 yr Time to move on to other targets. £80m is a huge fee that surely can get us a brilliant option elsewhere.

Yeah, Bissouma, if I remember rightly, was quite hyped too. He went to Spurs (yeah I know it's Spurs) and was poor. I would be nervous paying so much for Caicedo. He's not Kante at Leicester, who was a major part of their title winning side. Problem is, Brighton don't need or particularly want to sell and Caicedo isn't forcing a move, so we are in a difficult situation where it means spending so much. There seems to be a lack of quality midfielders out there and we would need to overpay once again. Edited July 27, 20232 yr by enigma
