Then why don't they propose a straight swap of Caicedo with Colwill ? Or maybe Colwill + 10 mill ? But they won't. They value Caicedo at an eye-watering 100 mill but Colwill at 30 mill only. Yes its hard to understand and maybe you can tell more about the logic of this valuation. I see it as simply trying to get a top prospect for peanuts and flogging him at triple profit next season. Brighton are a selling club, that's not hard to understand.

Brighton are said to be quite happy to keep this going on till the end of the window expecting we will cave and give them colwill or 100mill plus.

We gave them silly money for duds like Potter and Cucurella. Imagine what they'd want for a decent player. My main worry is that Brighton players look good playing for Brighton only.

It needs to be made clear to Caicedo either him and his agent take steps to make this move happen, or we move on to another target.

I've had a change of heart, I think we should leave the deal and go elsewhere. I don't know if Caidedo is worth the money or the time that Brighton want to make this deal happen.

What about a 50m bid for Cancelo. He is not a item with Pep any longer and knowing the way Pep treats those who falls out with him, we might have a decent chance of nabbing either him outrightly  or Kalvin Phillips on loan

I’d imagine this will drag on for weeks and eventually we cave in paying 90-100 million. If the club have identified a suitable back up that’s where I’d be looking. 100 million for a guy who’s played 1 season in the premier league is absurd. 

If we are looking to sell Gallagher as well then we really need another midfielder brought in.

I think he’s a top player so we might just have to pay up.

If we do this deal then they have absolutely no leverage about even bringing up Levi Colwell’s name again.

It’s under 3 weeks until we play Liverpool, it’s not an ideal match to play with rookie midfielders not used to the EPL.

Possibly Lavia. Maybe he isn't quite as good as Caceido but he's probably half the cost.

As good as Caceido might be, if he gets an ACL in the first week, it all means bugger all anyway. £75m we paid for Fofana. Generational talent apparently, joined us in Aug 22 for £75m, has played 15 games and is out now for most of this season.

Rather than pandering to this f*ckery from Tony Bloom, let's get Lavia and move on to other targets.

I'd actually test PSG's resolve and go as large as we could for Marquinhos. With our young Brazilians he woudl be a good mentor. Decent senior pro, Silva's mate so good partnerships, Can play in either CB position and can play defensive midfield as well. 

Philips or Alvarez from A**x can do a good job just don’t pay anything over £40 or a season long loan for Philips wouldn’t be a bad option.

Brighton can get f**ked now, move on.

I’m struggling to think of players that don’t look good at Brighton. Heck, even Danny Welbeck looks competent.

Have those "talks" scheduled for this week been held yet? There doesn't seem to be anything going on right now, or last week, or the week before. I'm thinking the fridge magnets will fall off before there is any real news.

We thought the same of the chap that went to Tottenham, Bissouma. 

Loads of teams were in for him and it looked like a coup. Turns out it wasn't. 

 

If Caicedo isn't willing to put in a transfer request and rock the boat at this point, espacially after the stink he raised for Arsenal mid season, then he simply isn't worth the hassle.

Let Brighton stew over the 80+ million for a player they bought for peanuts and their weirdo wet dreams of Levi.

 

Its time to look elsewhere.

I thought the same of Cucurella last year. He looked genuinely fantastic. 

Maybe there are stats out there that say otherwise and that I was duped, and that Caicedo is demonstrably fantastic. It doesn't change the fact that Brighton are being sweaty weirdos.

Like i said above though, thsi is what everyone was saying about Wersley Fofana and that is starting to look like 75m down the swannee. There have to be limits.

If this is guy is genuinely the best midfielder in his position bar none, why are we the only ones interested. I do believe that he is quality, but clearly everybody else can see he is not worth the money being quoted. Not for one seaon, great as it was. And lets not forget he spent a fair amount of that time playing out of posiiton as well. didn't he?

With Kroos, Modric, Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Valverde all jockeying for position in Real's midfield, if we belive that Santos really does have elite level potential (and most of us do) then why don't we put him out for a PL level loan for a year and why don't we try to get a Tchouameni or Camavinga on a year loan form Real with no option or obligation.

Keep our 100m in our pocket (or better still specd it elsewhere), see where Santos is this time next year and see what Brighton's relationship with their player is like then.
