I do have sympathy for players in Caicedo's position. He's signed a new deal under after the agreement that he could go in the summer but now he's being kept until a team pays stupid money. His agent should have pressed for a release clause

I don’t have any sympathy for him, that’s on him and his representatives thinking they can trust the club.

PSG have put up Mbappe for sale, and Madrid might need to fund the transfer by selling one of Tchouameni or Valverde. Common sense is for us to bid £70m for Tchouameni and £90m for Valverde and see what offer gets accepted. City, Liverpool & Utd will stick in a bid if they get any hint a deal is possible.

But who will buy Mbappe if he has made up his mind to go to Madrid the following season?  How much will Madrid have to bid?  Maybe not so much if there is no competition. Bayern are the only other club that might offer him what he wants. Well Man Citeh might but that ship has sailed. 

Put a 100M for Mbappe, Real will step in and bid more, and we buy one of their MF for 70-90M range. The chances are Mbappe won't be interested in, but Real won't risk another club buying him. If we switch targets, Brigton may just soften their stand and lower their price, if Caicedo is downing tools

He has not even handed in a written transfer request and we are thinking he will go on strike to make this move happen? No chance imo.

Brighton have made their price clear to us. We are not willing to pay it so, for both our sakes, we need to move on.

Makes more accounting sense for Madrid to buy him this summer for €100m & spread the cost over a 6yr contract, than sign him on a free next season & hand Mbappe €40m+ a sign on fee. 
Wouldn’t discount City just yet, with Gundogan & Mahrez gone they are missing that player with the extra spark in the final third. A move to City actually makes more sense than Madrid because at Madrid Vinicius already occupies the LW.

PSG have also said if he stays they might have to sell some of their other players. So let's bid for Marquinhos and Donnarumma.

Marquinhos would be a good, but Donnarumma isn't any better than Kepa, plus he just got tied up and robbed in his own apartment in Paris so I suspect he is mentally a bit shot at the moment !

All setting up quite nicely for Reece James getting selected in midfield for the Brighton game and bossing Caicedo off the park 🙂 

Either that, or a Butch Casadei and the Santos Kid pairing dominate the Brighton midfield LOL
