Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

My fear exactly. We need quality and experience. Still wondering why we didn't went for Milinkovic-Savic at €40m.

And yes! Three or four new quality players are indeed needed.
- Even if Caicedo comes in, we still need a backup CDM. We need depth/quality in RW. We need backup in CAM. We need a quality leading ST.

Let's hope that something happens. Otherwise I can't see us ending higher than Brighton, Villa, etc.

Gives me some sort of 2010's Arsenal-vibes to settle for a top 10-finish in the PL. 😶

I would assume Pochettino is having a good look at santos during the u.s tour as to whether he is ready to cover that dcm you mentioned? I would have liked to see us use lukaku to do a deal for barella, this is the level of established player we are crying out for imo, but that opportunity has seemingly passed now. Cherki would seem to cover a few of the positions you mentioned, whether he has the workrate seems to be the question.

If Brighton will not do business at £70m, I would walk straight down the road to Fulham and offer £50m for Joao Palhinha. I honestly think he is the better defensive midfielder, His stats last season (his first in the Prem) are excellent and I would do this not just to save £20m, but to prove to Tony Bloom that Chelsea are not mugs and to stop West Ham getting a player who is arguably as good as Declan Rice.

Fulham quoted £90m for him.

Why are we low balling Brighton, common consensus is saying Moises is a £100 million player, so we submit a 70million bid, that instantly gets rejected out of hand, has The salty media lapping it up.

Common consensus isn't 100m. Common consensus is more like 75/80m. I assume we're fannying about to not give any impression that 100m is on the table.

Enzo is a 100m player. He won young player of the tournament at the world cup.

Rice is a 100m player (sorry Argo), he's captained West Ham, been their outstanding player for many years, is an ever present in the England team. And he's still got many years ahead of him.

Caicedo does not have that pedigree.

At least we know where we are in the negotiations.

I've stated quite a few times that when you think of a 100m footballer, you think of someone who has an expansive game on the ball. (dictate play, opening defense's from deep, attacking/creative traits, etc).

Enzo is only one near that value.

My understanding is that we have already agreed personal terms with Moises Caicedo [21] and it is now only up to the clubs to agree a reasonable fee.  70 million quid seems reasonable to me.

Perhaps, but how much would prime Kante have got this summer? Definitely over 100m.

For me, value is reputation + age + impact on a teams ability to win. There's also a bonus for someone who is Hg/English.

Enzo and Rice have all 3. Caicedo does not have the reputation.

You have to think they’re serious about Santos, and maybe we’ve caught a player who’s profile is similar to someone who would progress thru teams like Southampton, Brighton, Fulham etc. big step, but excited to see how he adapts to the pace.

we need midfield options though. We’re one injury away from having no options, and I don’t think James can play there as we simply can’t depend on his fitness

On top of being second to none in winning the ball, prime Kante was among the best in the world in dribbling in tight areas and progressing the ball to the attacking third. He was an asset on both ends.

Rice is a good player but I can't help but feel his reputation is mainly built up on English media hype (prime example see Arsenal getting praised for Rice whilst we were criticized for getting Enzo despite the latter being a significantly better footballer).

"Perseverance pays and for Brighton & Hove Albion, it has landed them one of the hottest prospects in South American football following the capture of Moises Caicedo from Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle for a fee in the region of £5 million." ---- We are Brighton - Feb 2021

So, Brighton are going to make some money on this lad, good for them.

Lets be reasonable Brighton.

Brighton still sticking to 100mill according to sky Sports

I think this is more the reason other clubs are not involved, they wont go near that price.

  • Author

Brighton  are not budging on their price as they are not desperate for a cash injection, are not happy about us not selling them Colwill and are happy to keep Caicedo.

What lovely bunch.

If they don't get their 100mill. That's what happens if you don't put in a minimum fee.

It is? Is Common Consensus saying that? I never really trusted Common Consensus and IF Common consensus is saying that then Common Consensus is totally wrong [again].

Fcuck you, Common Consensus.

Apparently Caicedo and his camp feel disrespected by Brighton, and think 80mill is a fair price.

Brighton either want 100mill or will lower the price if we give them Colwill. Their current stance is one or the other otherwise Caicedo has to stay.

Boy do your agent screw the pooch Moises.
