July 18, 20233 yr Author I did compare Tony Bloom to Napolis ADL for a reason. Last year Cucurellas price went up from 52mill to 62mill because we would not sell Colwill to them, only loan him. Now they want 100mill for Caicedo as we won't load or sell them Colwill, rather than previously rumoured 80-85mill. How many years did ADL refuses to sell top players unless he received huge money or they entered the last year of their deals? Brighton having a cracking owner, tough as nails. Their fans must love him like Napolis do ADL.
July 18, 20233 yr Caicedo and his agency dropped the ball here. Should've had something binding written down on a price for him to leave as part of that extension.

July 18, 20233 yr Walk away now. Rumours that Bayern are willing to sell Joshua Kimmich as they look to raise money for Kane. We need experienced players now and he’d be brilliant for us I’ve no doubt. Stick in a bid at the very least to show Brighton we have options. if we pay anything north of £80 million for Caecedo then we’ve been mugged again. He might end up a world star but he’s nowhere near proving that yet.
July 18, 20233 yr If they want £100 million then the deal should be a fee of £50 million tops with £50 million in add ons. If Brighton received the whole £100 million in the end it would mean Caecedo was performing for us

I would like to see Caceido at Chelsea but not at the expense of all this f*ckery for a whole summer again. Edited July 18, 20233 yr by WhiteWall

They are right up there with Inter Milan and Barcelona in terms of wanting deals to be too much in their favour.

If I was a club owner and had Caicedo I would never ever let a player of his quality leave for less than the total committment for someone like Mudryk.

July 18, 20233 yr The Brighton friendly is coming up fast on 22nd July ... would be hilarious if Caicedo played the first half for Brighton, signed for Chelsea at half time, and then played the second half for Chelsea LOL. The PR for both sides would be immense 🙂

I would have no problem with an offer that was structured in a way that if he was a success he costs us 100m

There’s always risk in signing anyone but Kimmich stays fit by and large, is only 28 so unlikely his performances have fallen off a cliff. If he is for sale it says more about Tuchel than Kimmich in my opinion. it would only be us, City, Liverpool and PSG who would be serious bidders
July 18, 20233 yr Just like with Kane, it’s his own fault, he signed that extension to his contract after the Arsenal contact but clearly his agent hasn’t negotiated that to an extent to which it makes a future deal viable enough. Caicedo was in a bit of a rock & a hard place admittedly, as his wage was low but still had time on the original deal.. nevertheless, after this saga, it’s clear his agency has f**ked it.
July 18, 20233 yr Why are some of you upset with the price of the player? The money isn't coming from any of us

It means we will never be at the "good end" of any transfer activity because clubs, that is, all clubs will always look to mug us off.
July 18, 20233 yr Everyone we’ve signed from Brighton or sent to Brighton have played extremely well. Take them out of them and they all look rubbish. For all the hype of Colwill, he only played 17 times for them. I think Caicedo is gonna be a massive flop and overhyped.
July 18, 20233 yr We will never balance the book if we just throw 100M around every season. Forget FFP, if the club is in sh1t state financially, it won't be long before another firesale and reboot. There are alternatives out there, just need to get one in and revisit Caceido a year or 2 down the road if we are still keen. There's no way we could take the current bunch of kids into a new season, regardless the promise and talent. Preferably, we get someone over 25 with experience for a change.

Brighton has a clear tactic and system where everyone knows the their role. This allows players to unfold... I mean, look at March or Gross. Not sure that Caicedo will necessarily flop per say. But we did see Bissouma doing exactly what Caicedo is doing when he was playing for Brighton. - Now he's one of the biggest disappointments of last seasons PL. That could happen as well for Caicedo - but on the other hand his performances for the NT has also been decent. He looks great for the role we want him in. If he furthermore manage to free up something for Enzo it'll be massive. However, there are other options available for less - that statistically aren't much different.

Goretzka and Kimmich are very good options we can explore for experience and in the case of Kimmich, his versatility would be a bonus.
July 19, 20233 yr Even Kessie is not a bad option as a pure DM. He is strong and skilfull on the ball although not quite young. Whether he would leave Barca is another matter entirely

He does seem like more of a box-to-box midfielder IMO. - At Milan he was primarily playing as the 8 - not an out-and-out 6-role. Personally I believe that the club are looking at at defensive-minded midfielder that can help Enxo gaining more freedom in the midfield. Could be wrong though.
July 19, 20233 yr There is no way Kimmich is leaving Bayern, he is a key player. Wouldn’t even go near him because we will have the same issue Bayern have with him & Groetzka, none of them wants to/has the discipline to sit in the middle. That is why they have signed Laimer. There is also the small problem that he is on ridiculous wages; £300k/w. Not happening!
